well wholefoods rebuttal is that they have people of their own who visit the people whose produce they buy...so local regulations aren't really an issue for them...but like i said, to me the issue is not wholefoods' honesty. i read labels!! AND having lived in europe for decades i recognize a lot of their imported products, mostly nothing LIKE organic tho they do not claim any special status for these things people tend to assume that IMPORTED means higher quality (how do you spell d-o-o-f-u-s?) and many of those products are basically common garden variety items, not even "high" quality.
but what interests me more is the number of people who will pay more for organic yet i suspect in nine out of ten cases the water being pumped into those foods as they grow is anything BUT organic. that would mean all organic produce would have to be watered from springs...because even extra-filtered water is not REAL water, its maybe clean but also lacking in natural nutrients...
back to grow your own, but can you afford spring water for your veggie garden??
wanting my manor even more now!!
