Do you think it has to do more with Mercury or Uranus? A sunny disposition and an optimistic attitude would no doubt help(Sun, Jupiter, Mars) but I'm mostly wondering about people who are not only popular, but also very happy with the people they are friends with... IP: Logged |

More like a Leo and Libra thing. Sag too. I also noticed this in 11H Sun people. Aquarius too.IP: Logged |

I think venus would say if someone liked being social. I have venus in Cancer and I like being home but I have a lot of Leo/Sag 5th house energy and I am playful and can win people over. people tend to view me as theirs, I don't know why that is (astrologically speaking). Being with people does make me tired easy. I feel comfortable in my home but I like social events once in a while. I don't know if that helped or not.

I'm the opposite of someone like that... I was extremely shy as a child. I always had a best friend, but not a wide group of friends. I still don't really enjoy large groups and feel drained from lengthy periods of socializing even when I enjoy myself. A lot of this seems to come from having everything from the 12th–3rd house Retrograde. http://www.cafeastrology.com/natal/retrogradesinthenatalchart.html http://www.pathwaytoascension.com/astrology/lesson5.html IP: Logged |

I consider myself an introvert but I can turn on the charm and socialize well. The best place I do this is at work. I've never had a workplace where I didn't become friends with everyone. I can be sociable at parties and bars but it takes far more effort on my part and feels less natural than winning over people at work. Work place socializing and charming feels like the home game to me while other places to socialize feel like the away game. Venus in Libra in the 6th Also helps I think - Taurus Ascendant, Jupiter 1st - people find me easy going, and warm and Jupiter adds a heartiness to the already hearty Taurus Asc. People may forget but Taurus Ascendants do have a charm. It's a calmer charm that makes people feel easy around us Sun in the 7th - This is kinda an extrovert position for the Sun, but my Sun is in Scorpio so I feel like it is in the middle. I like people, and I like connecting to other but I spend almost as much time brooding alone in my room. :P
Mars in Aries - Most wouldn't expect it but I believe this one helps too - at times. My excitable Mars in Aries, combined with my Jupiter in the 1st demeanor makes for a very energetic person to talk to at times. Some people really take to it - usually Geminis. IP: Logged |

I wonder if it depends how you were raised and how your parents interacted with you and others.

^^I don't think so. I know too many who are different from their parents in that regard. But being shunned or bullied to an extreme degree makes it difficult for many people to interact because at least at a subconscious level they project their past experiences onto others so that a friendly greeting sounds sarcastic to them, for example, or assume they're being judged when they're not and can even create self-fulfilling prophecies of being rejected or worse by others until they just give up. And abusive parents can make a kid cringe around others which will invite ridicule, shunning, and bullying by other kids, so I can see an indirect effect. I can see how astrology would have an indirect effect as well as "chemicals mix and react to each other" which in turn help shapes how they all turn out as patterns get set based on how their charts play out with each other. That's just an example. I don't mean to say introverts are damaged people, they're not (necessarily) anymore than extroverts are necessarily happy people (many extroverts are miserable, fearful, and sometimes can feel very alone because their entire interaction is a facade so that they don't truly connect with others and fear people finding out who they really are). I'd say Mercury is more important than Uranus. I'm not sure what Uranus would have to do with it unless you mean enjoying a variety of people. Of course how charts react to each other count so that one person will make another feel comfortable but someone else with a different chart may not and that influences optimism, sociability, etc. As for myself I have many levels of friendship, from very close to just casual (and I can get along amiably with many associates), more so when I was younger and more restless & curious. Sometimes I'm "sunny" but not always. How optimistic I am is debatable as I don't have high expectations of people and many find me too cynical, though on the other hand I'm a lot more forgiving/tolerant than others are and consider minor failings and such to be a given which helps me get along with people rather than get all bitter whenever someone inevitably stumbles or otherwise make mountains out of molehills. Back in school I was both loved and hated. Most didn't dare bully me (at least more than once) but I got shunned and such (hateful rumors spread about me, for example) a lot, yet I didn't care as I got along with so many others who were less anal and more comfortable with themselves and other people. Looking back on it I'm surprised at just how fast I made friends even if many didn't like me because I was different. I think it's based on my 3H Libra stellium (including mercury) sextile 5H Sag stellium (including Uranus). IP: Logged |

I do think this is a significant factor for me and also my husband. Both our parents were very sociable (and still are to some degree) whilst we were growing up. My parents used to have parties often and their friends with children used to come around and there would be lots of music, dancing and fun. So in turn, we are very sociable people (as are our siblings), we love going out for an intimate dinner with friends, having a party at home or now and then hitting the clubs and dancing until 3am like we're teenagers again. I've always been pretty sociable and I think my placements of note would be leo ascendant, aqua Venus conjunct mercury, and trine my 11th house gemini moon and mars (11th house ruler in 7th house). Not sure how uranus fits in to the topic but it's in my 3rd house. Socially I normally feel at ease in most situations, Venus sextile Jupiter, and I enjoy meeting and conversing with new people, venus and mercury in 7th house. Pisces sun probably helps somewhat too; of all the piscean suns I know, they like to have a good time.

I think this has to do with Venus in Sag or Gemini, not Uranus or Mercury.IP: Logged |

Me! 🙋I genuinely do love talking and getting to know new people. Was popular in school of course but I was very happy with the groups of people I associated with. I was friends with everyone from the goths, emos, skaters to the preps, jocks and "nerds". My Venus is in Scorpio in my 1st. Venus is my chart ruler. I'm a 12th house Libra Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Virgo Jupiter. They just about all conjunct and aid in my optimistic, happy attitude I believe. I have a 3rd house stellium also. Mercury is conjunct my Asc. IP: Logged |

Wow! So far everyone seems to be in consensus that Venus plays a huge part. Barbiegirl19, do you have any harsh aspects to your Venus?

Top half planets. My guitar teacher is all top half of the chart occupied and he is super comfortable with people. He is a true genius, too. He has an out of bounds Mercury and there is something else about his Mercury I can't remember that is amazing but the top half of the chart of the chart occupied by planets is a natural extrovert.

Absolutely! She's very important in my opinion and so much more than what we like and love. No harsh aspects. I have a Mars trine and minor aspects with Neptune and Chiron. IP: Logged |

Leo/Gemini sun and/or venus - with good aspects, maybe to jupiter for a little optimism And also Aquarius of course (sun, venus, jupiter?) I myself enjoy socializing but I wouldn't say that I am good at it at all, I'm too nervous, mistrustful etc. (virgo-nerves) - I'm virgo sun and libra mercury, and scorpio venus. My venus makes only nice aspect, but the rest of my chart is all T-squares No matter what it's definitely not anything to do with virgo/scorpio or a person who has a lot of tension in their chart (T-squares and squares to sun, moon, venus or mars) It takes a relaxed, selfconfident, trustful and happy person to enjoy AND being good at socializing I think IP: Logged |
