quote: The key premise of the book is that because the mind and body are connected, illnesses of the body somehow have their root causes in emotional and spiritual aspects of the mind and its beliefs and thought processes. While modern medicine concerns itself with eliminating symptoms of disease in the body, using tools such as chemotherapy and other pharmaceutical drugs and various surgical techniques, Hay's approach is to identify and work to resolve what she perceives as the mental root causes of disease. Hay believes that the causes of "dis-ease" include stress and unhealthy thought patterns and beliefs about oneself, and postulates that the most fundamental way to affect positive change in the body is to change the way we think, using tools such as "mirror work" and affirmations. At the end of book, a separate section lists numerous illnesses and various emotional thought patterns that Hay believes causes them; this was derived from Hay's earlier book, Heal Your Body, which had its origins in a pamphlet she published in 1979.

Thank you for bringing Louis Hay up, Faith. I found her book “You Can Heal Your Life" about 8 years ago and soon after, her other books and audiobooks. I was single and in the lowest period of my life. Looking for identity, quitting my study, problematic health. I met my husband 1 year after I practised with affirmation and set up my first small business. Louis Hay read her audiobooks herself. I find her vibration very powerful and has healing effect on me. Some degree of hypnosis. Blessings that all is well in our world!

Thank you both Loving this book so far! And wanting to post big portions of it here, but I guess that would be a copyright violation. Here are some affirmations: http://www.louisehay.com/affirmations/ IP: Logged |

I think some of her ideas are too simplistic, but they are beautiful concepts.IP: Logged |

Like mantras I have a friend who really loves Louise Hay and I like when her things come up in my Facebook feed as long as I'm in a receptive mood.. but I agree with Randall a bit, sometimes my mind wants to delve a little more and have more to chew on. Then again simple is beautiful and powerful and i like the vibration i feel when i read those affirmations IP: Logged |
