Topic: Your Ascendant + Your Parents Sun Sign?

G'Day  I was reading yesterday that more often that not a person's Ascendant is the same as either their Mum or Dads Sun sign...
For example my Ascendant is Taurus – and my Mums Sun Sign is Taurus... Has anyone else noticed this trend? What do you think this means?? Love

hrm....well my Mom is a Capricorn but my rising sign is Cancer. I *think* my birth dad's birthday is July 22... ok well there ya go, that's Cancer. My mom, if I have her birth time correct, has the rising sign of Aries... which is my grandma's sun sign. My kids are adopted... my eldest's rising sign is Sagittarius...and that is his birth mom's sun sign. it's also the sun sign of my other two kids's birth mom (they have the same one, but she is not the eldest's birth mom) however their rising signs are Gemini and Scorpio SO since this all seems to be falling nicely into place, that must be their birth father's sun signs. this is so COOL! thanks for sharing this! *edit* .... my brother's rising sign is Sagittarius but his Dad is a Taurus (deffo his dad too :-p) so... well I guess you can't win them all. Still this is way cool. ------------------

I believe I saw something about this in the book "Parker's Astrology". There were charts of families shown, and how you "inherit" signs from your parents and grandparents, not necessarily so neat as getting their Sun as your Ascendant, but it was a very intricate plan on how, even though you choose your chart, you choose your parents as well, maybe some of that choice is because of their chart. On a personal note, my Leo mother has a Virgo rising and a Scorpio moon. Her mother was a Leo with Virgo rising and Virgo moon. I have a strong Virgo moon and and a Taurus sun (Taurus was at a lesser point in both their charts) and I have a great big Jupiter in Leo. The signs they lack in their charts, I lack as well. Is there such a thing as heredity? Or is it all just our charts? Hmmm... My ex-husband was a Virgo with Scorp Ascendant. Both his parents and 2 of his grandparents were Sun sign Scorpio. Yes my mom has her Sun in Virgo and my Ascendant is in Virgo. My sister however has hers in Sag but neither of my parents have their Sun in Sag. My friends Ascendant is in Virgo as well and her parents have their Suns in Taurus and Libra. Her brother has his Ascendant in Sag. So as you see it doesn't work with everyone. I think it is more the personal planets which are situated in the horoscope of the parents and so in their children's.

It's not always so neat and tidy as just Sun and Rising (I'm Virgo Rising, and my parents are Libra and Cappy Suns), but like Auriel says, astrology is as good as a paternity blood test!  ------------------

Cancer Sun Capricorn Sun
Cancer Moon Cancer Moon
Scorpio Rising Leo Rising Brother: Me
Sagittarius Sun Sagittarius Sun
Scorpio Moon Aries Moon
Pisces Rising Virgo Rising (I still think Leo Rising...LOL) My maternal grandmother lived with us all my life and she had a Leo Sun, Cappy moon and Sagittarius Rising. My other grandma has an Aries Sun, Libra Moon and Sagittarius rising. My mom is almost all water and my father had mostly Capricorn and Cancer dominating his chart. ------------------

I thought I'd just put my 2c in. I've a Scorp rising, and the only Scorp sun that I'm "descended from" is my maternal grandfather, although I have a paternal uncle with a Scorp sun.
Hmm...let's see (I'm writing this out for my own benefit as much as anything else)
My Pop:
Sun - Libra
Moon - Cancer
Asc - Virgo My Mum:
Sun - Pisces
Moon - Sag
Asc - Cancer (and then both Merc and Ven in Aqua) Me (1st born):
Sun - Pisces
Moon - Aqua
Asc - Scorp My Sis (2nd):
Sun - Virgo
Moon - Scorp
Asc - Aqua My Bro (3rd):
Sun - Cancer
Moon - Cappie
Asc - Leo I then know my maternal Grandma's stats:
Sun - Aqua
Moon - Taurus
Asc - Cappie
And my maternal Grandpa was a Scorp w/ Taurus in there somewhere (trust me); but I just know the sun of my paternal Grandmother (Leo), and I don't know any of my natural paternal Grandfather's info. Hmmm...veeery interestink (to me, anyway). Corri IP: Logged |

you know...this is kind of interesting because my ascendant is in Pices, my Dad's sun is Aries and my Mom is An Aquarius.hmmmm....I'm the only leo sun in the whole family....my Aunt's B-day is on the cusp of Leo/Virgo. I ownder if this is why...although I love my family, I totally feel misunderstood by them (I'm talking the WHOLE family...aunts..uncles...cousins). My Pices Ascendant, Moon and Jupiter makes me emotional and intuitive and i think this makes my family uncomfortable. I do not get along well with my brohter either....he has a Taurus sun...I don't know what his ascendant is though.....dude has some serious karma to work through....I talk to him about his karma all the time...but he just doesn't get it. I am an Aries with an Aquarius rising. My mom is a Cappy and my dad is a Taurus. I don't imagine in astrological ways I was anything like them. Which brings to mind, I've always asked them if I was adopted, .IP: Logged |

My mum is a capricorn, my dads' a Libra.There's lots of libra in me but only one capricorn (venus).
My ascendant is Gemini (or possibly taurus..havent had an irrefutably accurate chart done yet)

My mom and I both have the moon in Pisces, which is the Sun sign of both of her parents. My son has the moon in sag which is my Sun sign. My daughter's moon is in Virgo, her brother's Sun sign. I just have no idea where she gets her Gemini Sun. To my knowledge there isn't anyone else on either side of the family with a Gemini influence.

Yup, this is a vein of Astrology that fascinates me endlessly.I have Saggie rising, my mom is a Saggitarius Sun. I have a second house moon, my mom has a Taurus moon. I have Gemini on the Descendant and my siblings are all Mercury ruled. (dad & sister are on the cusp of Gem/Taurus, older sis has Gem moon & rising, moon in the 1st, dad has Cancer moon.) I have Sun (represents dad) conjunct Mercury (represents siblings) in my natal chart. Dad & Sis have the same birthday, May 21st. I guess you could say Dad & sis are conjunct. I suspect my dad has Leo rising, and his father, my grandpa, is a Leo sun. The connections just go on and on. It's so amazing. IP: Logged |

Brother 2: Aquarius/Taurus/GeminiIt's funny that my mom's three match all three of her children's sun signs. My Dad and younger brother match ASCs, and my Dad also matches ASC with his own mother's sun sign. I match my Aunt's ASC sign as well.. and she's the closest thing I've had to a "mom". Angela

 Cool...Don't forget to consider the DESCENDANT as well, the opposite sign of the ASCENDANT, because our family members are the first people that we form relatioships with. It's not unusual to for siblings to have opposing ascendants with one another, thus describing each others DESC or 7th house (which is also the house of open enemies, can you say "sibling rivalry"? ) IP: Logged |

I can't see it in either of my parents (I've a Scorp Asc, Libra Pop, and Pisces Mom...though if my Dad had been born on time he would've been a Scorp...).Between me, my husband, and my kiddo, though:
* I have a 3rd House Aqua Moon, her Dad has a 3rd House Aqua Sun, and she has an 11th House Gem Moon, Venus, and Mars.
* Taurus also seems to be a player - I've a 7th House Taurean Venus, my husband has a 6th House Taurean Moon, she has a 9th House Taurus Sun. On the 9th House/Jupiter/Saggie Energy - I have Jupiter in an out-of-sign conj. w/ my Mars and NN; my husband has a 1st House Jupiter.
* Both of us have prominent Aqua/Uranian energies (1st House Uranus trine Sun for me, 1st House Uranus conj. Jupiter which're trine his Sun for my Husband), and she has 9th House Uranus in Pisces (my Sun, his Mars). ---
