Do any of ya'll know a good way to calculate the % influence of each particular element in an ind's chart? How 'bout the percentage influence of mutablity/cardinality/fixity?I was wondering if, given that information, how high of a correlation there would be between each element/quality and whether someone tests I/E, S/F, T/F, J/P; and if that info could then be used to predict to a fair degree of probability one's "personality type". And how much to you think the distribution of planets in each house/house type would effect the outcome? I mean, it would obviously have an influence, but do you think that the first two base variables would be sufficient for establishing predictability, or must a third be thrown into the mix? Sounds like a very good experiment. Since most people have no idea what you're talking about, why don't you find a good link that explains these personality types (and lets us take a short version of the test)? ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Sometimes I get ahead of myself Eh, I searched around the web for a free Keirsey, but it seems as if they were all removed due to copyright violations. So. Hm. Op, found one: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp If you take it, remember that this is a pretty abbreviated form and also that the answers that you give are to be your ideal, not necessarily what you've resigned yourself to do. This test says that I'm an INFJ (once again testing 100% intuitive; it's a wonder I don't get lost on my way to the bathroom); when I've taken the full Meyers-Briggs I've come out as an INXJ (a mix of INFJ and INTJ attributes), but as I've grown older I keep seeming to veer more towards making that J an X, too. INFJ descriptions: http://keirsey.com/personality/nfij.html http://typelogic.com/infj.html (If you take the test these two links will be given for your type.) Dimensions of Temperament (What do those letters mean?): http://keirsey.com/pumII/dimensions.html The Four Temperments (with links to the 16 types): http://keirsey.com/matrix.html CORRI IP: Logged |

I was very interseted in this at one time; myb problem is that I'm a twin, and my brother test completely different than I do. Particularly I test introverted and he test extroverted. The only difference in our charts is 4 degrees of the Ascendant. All house and planet location are the same. I wish I could find a linkage between the keirsey of BM types and astrology. It would appear that its cultural in nature; he was twice my size in HS and therefore was into football whereas I was to small. Just some thpoughts Lanny IP: Logged |

Thanks for your thoughts, Lanny - they're appreciated The only thing being that I've noticed that w/ twins (whether paternal or maternal) that they tend to make an effort (whether concious or not) to distinguish themselves. The thing that got me interested was the extreme parallel between my INFJ description and certain aspects of my chart; also the fact that I test INXJ in many instances, which may be explained by my heavy Aquarian influence. My sister's test of an ENFP also seems to reflect her astrological portrait (S-Virgo/M-Scorp/A-Aqua); my mother's, ESFJ, hers (S-Pisces/M-Sag/A-Cancer); as well as my ESTJ Grandmother (S-Aqua,M-Taurus,A-Cappie); and then a few other examples. Ergh - the problem being that there's no really specific lines that I can point to - it's all much more of a feeling that I get (and I can feel that something's right all day long, but that doesn't prove it to anyone else). That's why I want to break it down and examine it, to see if there's any validity on a relatively large scale (taking into acct, of course, that there will be exceptions in expression due to life circumstances). wow! corri. the ponderings of excellent minds will always lead us somewhere. The 8 Preferences and 16 Types: Extraversion ISTJ ESTP Introversion ISFJ ESFP Sensing INFJ ENFP Intuition INTJ ENTP Thinking ISTP ESTJ Feeling ISFP ESFJ Judging INFP ENFJ Perceiving INTP ENTJ the elements: fire earth water air the modes: cardinal fixed mutable the houses: angular cadent succedent i took the test last year and came out INTP. took the abbreviated test you searched and came out the same. http://www.knowyourtype.com/intp.html i share albert einstein's temperament, a rational. BUT...my chart virtually spells out zero air element. (astro.com) my planets are all in angular houses save for 3 in virgo in the 11th house. "A majority of planets in Angular Houses means that you will tend to concentrate on situations that are immediate. You are probably a "let’s get it done right now" kind of person." from... http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/11.5MajorityPlanet.htm what can we come up with here, then??? uhh... kinda lost now...gotta think. oops. there goes that word...THINK! i have to, anyways... gotten this far

I think that there is a direct correlation with the Meyers Briggs / Keirsey test and ones natal chart. I was tested in jr high and came out as an INFP, then in college it leaned towards INFJ and has continued to remain the INFJ - Counselor type. http://typelogic.com/infj.html On the surface I do appear reserved (Virgo rising?) and often take in a situation. I have what my family calls an innate BS detector but I am very outgoing at times (Sag Sun / Sag Venus). I think that most of us Sag's will admit that while we appear to be completely carefree and extraverted, we really aren't. Most people see that part of us when we are "in the mood" many times I have to run away from all the "noise and people" to just go into myself and think...recharge and be back to nature. Maybe that is why so many of us are drawn to animals and the outdoors. Does the part about the intuition leading to the "seer and prophet" fall under the Sag Sun and Venus or does my Pisces Mars also lend to the fact that I dream things before they happen or can see deeper meanings into things when others can't. It has helped me tremedously in business since I can cut to the chase and read the other person easily. My Aries moon lends emotional outbursts and a temper, but I am always at odds with what I should say and I worry about the ramifications of my actions (Capicorn Merc square Moon). Sometimes people take this as cold, but really I am feeling deeply, I have just gone back into myself. It is true that while I have a wide range of friends, I hold only a few extrememly close and let them know my inner thoughts and fears. I am close to my family, but they can tell you that there are times that they don't understand where I am coming from. One thing that they pointed out, that I have had trouble with for years is the "empathy" part. I can feel what another is feeling to the point that is sometimes causes to me have to escape. I can sense the tension, fear, deception, pain and happiness of those around me. Maybe that is why, although I enjoy getting out and being with people, after a while it begins to grind me down, like a sensory overload. So, I do think that there is a case to be made for the natal chart being in line with the personality profiles. My brother and I just had this discussion on Tuesday when his little boy was born. He is a total skeptic. ------------------ "Loyalty to petrified opinion never yet broke a chain or freed a human soul in this world--and never will." Mark Twain IP: Logged |

INFP here too. I took the test for the first time 12 years ago and again 2 years ago and still INFP. It completely clashes with my fiery/airy chart but the description is very much me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INFP IP: Logged |
