What is the effect of two people meeting who have the opposite rising signs? Are they exactly what the other person is looking for? Cause, I do remember that your seventh house of relationships is ruled by the sign opposite your rising sign (Aries rising with a Libra ruled 7th house for example). This typically represents the type of temperment you think you need in a partner, the complementary energies....but what does it do to the relationship? Would appreciate anyone else's take on this, as I am very curious.------------------ -K "Most people love with restraint As if they were someday to hate We hated gently, carefully As if we were someday to love"-Venus Trines at Midnight IP: Logged |

That's how I would interpret it too. Your 7th house is what you look for in others, so someone who matches that ideal with their rising sign would definately pique your interest, and vise versa. But sun or moon to descendant contacts are probably stronger though, because that would actually put their sun or moon in YOUR 7th house, or vise versa, in the synastry chart. Remember that your ascendant is really only the packaging. Once you get to know someone on a deeper level it tends to plays a smaller role in the dynamics.IP: Logged |

I did a post once on this topic. I've heard that your descendant ,(being the oposite of your asc) is both who you are attracted to,AND how we behave ourselves whilst in a relationship. I find this spot on personally as I'm a taur rising and always go for scorp suns, but being a sag , its never compatable .Also when I'm in a relationship I'm can be a total possesive jealous scorpio ***** , which is really not in my usual sag/virg/aqua personality . The asc opposites i think is probably one of the strongest ties in a couple, somehow the idea seems right to me. In fact indian astro regards the person as their asc ie I am a taurus to the indian astrologist I saw once and he said the best would be a scorp (meaning asc) !(they dont see opp as neg as do some wetern astros, infact they thinks its the best) This topic is rarely talked about but its reaaly powerful i think, so I was realy excited to see you post it Virgo Aries artist!! ciaoIP: Logged |

VAA,This is an interesting topic. I have Pisces Rising, and "coincidentally" both my husbands had Virgo Rising. Also, my first had the Sun in Virgo and my second, the Moon and Venus in Virgo, to strengthen the 7th house ties, so yes...the attractions were very strong and on the surface it appeared each was what the other needed. However over time, other negative aspects proved to be stronger, leading to the demise of both unions. My first husband's and my Suns were exactly square, his Saturn conjunct my Moon and Neptune, and my Saturn squared his Mars. My second husband's Sun was square my Moon, his Saturn opposed my Sun, my Sun squared HIS Moon, and my Saturn squared his Mars. If I'd known my astrology better back then, I wonder if I'd have married either of them, lol. So I would have to say that yes, the attraction between opposite Rising Signs definitely exists, but for a lasting union look for other things too, such as harmonious aspects between the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, Saturn, etc. (or at least try to avoid the harsher aspects). Having said that, I would also add that Saturn aspects are the karmic ties and there are lessons to be learned (and did I ever learn!), so there is always a reason for the relationship, whatever the outcome; and when one is in love, aspects don't seem to matter much anyway (lol, I sound like a Libra trying to see both sides, don't I?). Thanks for everyones input. Actually I asked because although I am deeply into my "special Gemini", I have found this stirring connection, so to speak, with a Cappy guy who I find out recently has a Libra rising....complements my Aries rising quite nicely, and gives him a even more charming sensuality when mixed with a Sag moon and Venus (which go well with my Leo moon and Venus), Merc in Cappy (trining my Merc in Virgo), and Mars in Libra (which makes him a bit hard to 'get' at moments since he seems into me, but (detached/cautious)...just exploring my options and glad to know there are a few others feeling the cosmic pull of oppositions... ------------------ -K "Most people love with restraint As if they were someday to hate We hated gently, carefully As if we were someday to love"-Venus Trines at Midnight IP: Logged |

Mars in Libra is very romantic and a bit shy. I think that's true of opposites, I go well with Gemini risings with my Sag rising, and I like Gemini moons very much. Plus Mars in Gemini and Mars in Libra. I prefer more Libra and Aqua suns, but I like Gemini in every other planet. I also have Mars in Sag both are in the 1st, so I know a lot of air signs, and Cancers too.I wonder about Mercury in Capricorn? Does Mercury in Capricorn get along well with Venus in Aries, Sag rising, Sag mars, moon in cancer, and taurus sun? Would Mercury in Capricorn get along me with all those squares? The friend in question seems quiet most of the time and has Venus in Capricorn, and Moon in Libra. Natasha IP: Logged |

The effects of connecting with your opposite sign were beautifully and thoughtfully memorialized by the Knowflakes here: http://lovestarz.com/connectpoems.html From what I can tell, they are real and accurate and bursting with meaning. Much can be learned about this topic from reading and meditating on our poems. Love, Carlo IP: Logged |

Wow, Carlo~ I am so touched by the way this was all put together. I loved the sensual images coupled with the deep heartfelt poetry. All done by people who post here! I knew we had a community of wondrous people, but I am so impressed and enamoured. Thank you for sharing. I love John William Waterhouse, too. How did you compile them all? Did everyone have a hand in the making of this? IP: Logged |

I sent the original thread to the top for you, pixiechick...you can read it and feel that creative knowflakian flow lol...and if you feel like writing a poem about connecting with that special Taurus man somewhere along the path of your life, if ever there was such a fortunate dude, feel free The poetic words of a Scorpio woman (witch if I recall, you are one, like my mother, whose b-day is today!) are absent from the series so far, so go for it and we can add it and some images too Also, you might like this page on my website: http://lovestarz.com/zodiacmusings.html it's organized by sign with quotes and poems about and by members of each sign. Enjoy Love, Carlo IP: Logged | |
