2, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12..... all empty. Welcome to the freakshow. Major Scorpio stellium too, in my fourth. Stay away, stay far away! No, but doesn't it also matter whether the planets that rule those houses you are missing are ruled well? Or if you're eighth house is empty, if you have strong Scorpio or pluto aspects, it sort of compensates? Or if ninth house is empty as long as sag/jup is aspected elsewhere, etc.?IP: Logged |

Here is an article by John K Hammelton on empty Houses:Of the major factors that astrologers use in delineating a chart or horoscope, all the planets, plus sun and moon, come to a total of ten (not counting part of fortune, nodes, etc.) The horoscope is composed of twelve houses that describe the mundane affairs of the individual as experienced in life. In all cases, there are two houses that will be empty; and in most cases many more. In some charts, the planets are bunched so closely together that it is not unusual for eight, nine, or even ten houses to be empty of their direct influence. This does not mean that empty houses are ignored in a good reading. On the contrary, the sign on the cusp, or leading edge of the empty house, along with its ruling planet, allow an inference to be made in regard to that area of life. Many basic text books of astrology do not include readings on empty houses. In most cases, it is necessary to hunt down a text specifically written to cover this area. I have written interpretations for all twelve houses for each of the twelve astrological signs on the cusp of every house. All you need is your horoscope, or a knowledge of which sign is on the cusp of what house. The interpretation or reading is here for your use and help in understanding your own horoscope. The First House is the window through which you see the world, but also the window through which the world sees you. Your physical appearance and presentation is how others perceive your outward manifestation; and first impressions come through the Rising Sign, or Ascendant, which is the cusp of the first house. Represents head and face. The Second House deals with a person's finances, or the area in life that pertains to assets and personal worth in terms of worldly goods; shows gain or loss according to conditions affecting this house. Denotes ears and throat. The Third House has to to with short journeys; correspondence, communications, reading, studying, mental abilities and inclinations. Rules the nervous system, lungs, arms and hands. The Fourth House centers about the home and living environment; shows conditions at end of life. Has to do with land, mines, property; father, and rules the breast, organs of digestion, and stomach. The Fifth House is involved with social affairs, children, speculation, romance, and the ligher side of the emotions. Pertains to the heart, upper back, and sides. The Sixth House denotes work, service, health, pets, servants, hygiene, and clothing. Relates to the bowels, and solar plexus. The Seventh house has to do with marriage, partnership, contracts, lawsuits, and relations with the public. The sign has rule over the lumbar region, kidneys, renal glands, and urinary system. The Eighth House deals with wills, legacies, inheritances, death, astral experiences, and all things connected with the dead. Has to do with the sex organs, muscular system, and bladder. The Ninth House is associated with foreign lands, long journeys, the higher mind, education, ideals, values, religion, and philosophy. Its domain includes the thighs, and liver. The Tenth House is linked to an individual's occupation, or profession; also fame, promotion, honor, government, and the mother. Has rulership over the knees. The Eleventh House is associated with friends, companions, hopes and wishes. Pertains to the ankles. The Twelfth House has to do with secrets. seclusion, isolation, enemies, unseen trouble, limitation, exile, prisons, monastaries, hospitals, and the occult side of life. Rules the feet.

Now call me a muppet but I am new at this game. On my chart it clearly has nothing inside the segments 7th, 8th, 12th, and 11th. Now outside the segments above the cusp line I have signs. Im real confused. Can someone take a look. 18th October 1972, 2am Greenwich, London UK. Thanks cause Iam sitting here thinking that Iam lacking patnership, sex or health...which can't be true.IP: Logged |

Lapierre dear, you have nothing to worry about. Your 7th and 12th houses are empty, but not to worry. An empty house dosen't mean that you will have nothing going on in those houses, because events in your life are triggered by transits to the houses, not natal planets, and all of the planets will be transiting through your 7th and 12th houses at some time. For example Uranus is in your 7th house right now. Lanny IP: Logged |

This empty house thing has bugged me too from time to time.. My 2nd, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th are empty of planets.. though a couple of them have the south node and part of fortune. Then...unless I use the Equal house system, the cusps are all weird too. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd have Leo cusps so conversely, my 7th, 8th, and 9th are all Aquarius. Does that make my personality heavily lopsided towards Leo when considering that I have 7 planets in the 5th house and my Sun is in mutual reception with my Leonine Jupiter which is in conjunction with my Leo asc.? I've never thought of myself being really Leo-like but these indicators would seem to say that I have a good dose of the Lion within..and by the other token, I suppose my partnerships (7th), sex life (8th) and philosopy (9th) have all been rather unorthodox and bizzare (Aquarius) from time to time... Even if a house is empty, it's still has a planet governing it. If you have Aquarius on your 7th house cusp, Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, so Uranus is the ruler of your 7th house. Where is Uranus in your chart, and how is it aspected?IP: Logged |

So Uranus gets the grand pleasure of ruling three houses in my chart.. It's conjoined my moon/venus (moovenu? teeehee.. I like to give it it's own name cause they are both at exactly 7.20 Scorp and have a strong influence on me) , if abit widely and Uranus also exactly trines my MC.. which may mean I will have an unusual career.. Maybe something regarding Scorpionic energies since Uranus is in Scorp and my MC falls into the 8th house in the equal house system. Good GRIEF! I'm not going to be in the sex industry am I?!? Prolly not likely now but I was kind crazy in my younger days... Now I may get into some kind of investigative work or something regarding humanure! hmmmmm.IP: Logged |

I have 1, 2, 7, 8, 11 and 12 empty. The only thing in 10th is Chiron and South Node.Harpyr - That's so hilarious what you said about your possible career. Hey! You never know! You might invent the next best birth control method!! Speaking of the MC, I have Sun Trine in 5th hs. I wonder what ideas you guys have about that? And also MC Square Neptune in 6th. .gloria ------------------ it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness... IP: Logged |

I've read if you have an empty house- you don't have to work on the issues that house represents in this life. You worked out those issues previously and are now focusing on things in the houses that have aspects in this lifetime.I have also read that the more empty houses you have - the older you are on a 'soul' or evolution level. Simply put, if you have six or more empty houses, you are an old spirit who's been around the block, having learned much in your previous incarnations. IP: Logged |

well.. actually pixel, if I were to design a birth control method, I think it would certainly involve wild yam, in which case I would ideally grow it in soil that is fertilized with humus that comes from humanure! ...okay back to our regularly scheduled topic.. empty houses.... MurcurialMisfit, I've never heard that before but it makes some sense and hey, sounds good to me! I've always thought I'm something of an old soul.. perhaps not always evolved but certainly old at any rate..

Hey, don't get me wrong, I am not knocking renewable resources and I mean, we all 'renew' so to speak... it just strikes me as a funny word, and I don't have a fabulous relationship with that function. I might be an old soul, astrology wise, but I am sill an immature t!t in the real world...hee hee..... Yams... so much to be said of the power inherent in the things we take for granted...tasty, too!IP: Logged |

my 12th is empty (among others) and I was told that my 12th being empty signifies that this is my last trip and that I'm here for a very specific purpose...(I sure as hell wish I knew what that was..I wish I could be like Owen Meany and just know what I'm supposed to do so I can go at it).IP: Logged |

i have a question:a house without planets is the same as a house without anything?cuz for example i have houses without planets but in the 1st there's lilith,in the 7th there's ceres, in the 10th retrograde chiron and part of fortune and retrograde juno and direct south node in the 12th.Houses 2,8 and 11 lack anything!!!!!!IP: Logged |

Awakening ~Transiting planets pass thru empty houses. As the transiting planet hits points in the empty house that aspect natal planets, events will be triggered. As lanny wrote: quote: An empty house dosen't mean that you will have nothing going on in those houses, because events in your life are triggered by transits to the houses, not natal planets, and all of the planets will be transiting through your 7th and 12th houses at some time.
Here’s a sample chart with natal planets and transiting planets. The 6th, 7th, 8th and 1st are "empty". I’m not much of an interpreter, but I note that transiting Neptune at 18 Aqua is trining this person’s natal Moon at 17 Libra in the 2nd. tUranus at 13 Pisces is on this person’s Descendent, opposing the Ascendent and sextiling nVenus in Taurus in the 9th. The tMoon at 9 Aries in the 8th is sextiling the nSun in Gemini in the 10th and trining nLilith in Sagittarius in the 4th. tMars at 13 Virgo in the 1st (conjunct the Asc) is opposing tUranus on the Dsc and trining nVenus in Taurus in the 9th. There’s a lot going on that has to do with the experiences of these “empty” houses!!! My favorite little “reminder” sticky-note goes: Planets are WHAT Signs are HOW Houses are WHERE Zala IP: Logged |
