Hello Everyone,I just thought I will let you know about an interesting concept that will enhance your natal analysis. It's called your Guiding Planet and it describes your innate skills and inner faculties. To find your Guiding Planet, look for the planet rising directly before the Sun. Here is the website that gives descriptions of each Guiding Planet: http://khaldea.com/planets/oriental_intro.shtml This is a great webiste filled with useful and unique information that you won't find anywhere else. You can learn so much about yourself with this alone, so I hope all of you will look into it. IP: Logged |

Hi Novgal -Thanks for that info... it seems accurate to me so far... Interested in knowing what others think. It's really easy. Look at your WHEEL, and find your Sun. Go CLOCKWISE and see the first PLANET you hit. Mine is Venus. .gloria IP: Logged |

I'm a moon...that seems right to me, I find I'm quite domesticated for a gemini (moon in 7th, taurus). I also take a lot of "abuse" (lots of unpaid overtime, (un)willingly take on extra work etc) Great topic! Nackie IP: Logged |

Thanks for the article. It looks like I have a few things in common with the late Marilyn Monroe.Marilyn Monroe was born with Mercury less than four degrees ahead of the Sun. I have Mercury at 10 degrees Gem and Sun at 14 degrees Gem. In the birth-chart of Marilyn Monroe, the planet Venus rises before Mercury and about forty degrees ahead of both the Sun and Mercury. We both have Venus at 28 degrees Aries. While Mercury seemed to act well ? at least in part ? in her instance as Guiding Planet, leading her and attracting her to highly intelligent men, Venus (which is trine natal Neptune in the first house Venus trine Neptune here too. Mmmmmmm, smart men are super sexy. seems to have usurped the role of Skill Symbol, leading her to fame as an immortal sex symbol and tragic female. I am also an immortal sex symbol

Mine is Jupiter and it's all the back in the 7th house, does that dampen the effect??????Anyway here is what it says about Jupiter as a guiding planet: Jupiter Skill Symbol people tend to function well in social situations and when dealing with big social issues. They like occupying important positions in the world and have a knack for knowing how to advance themselves and prosper. As Guiding Planet, Jupiter bestows a sense of social responsibility, and often a religious or philosophical outlook. IP: Logged |

It's the planet directly ahead (or behind I guess you could say) your sun, in a clockwise direction. For me, I have Sun in Leo at 15 degrees, and the planet closest to my sun clockwise (downward on the right, upward on the left) is Mars at 1 degree Leo. If we go counter-clockwise, it's Mercury. Does that mean something too? It's conjunct my sun, actually, at 15 degrees Leo as well. Hmmm. IP: Logged |

Yeah, my Merc is practically on top of my sun, with a hairs breadth between for my Midheaven.....so I am going with Merc being my guiding planet....Probably explains why I can never shut up. LOL MK IP: Logged |

.gloria....Hey Ya!! The night shift is here!!! whooooo hooooo.......um ~cough~ ok, back to business...... My MC is at 6.18 Virgo......Mercury is to one side at 6.07, and the Sun at the other, at 8.10.... My Asc is Scorpio. Scorpio being my 12th house seems interesting, but I don't have any planets there. Waaaaah I like Scorponic traits....go figure, hmm? LOL Now you have piqued my curiousity...why do you ask?? MK IP: Logged |

Hey MK -Since the concept of "Guiding Planet" is new to us, was looking at your stuff to gauge its strength. Virgo in Mercury likes to talk, so I'm wondering if your Guiding Planet being Mercury would be even more "enhanced" if it's in a chatty sign. For example:: Mercury in Scorpio would not be as chatty, but Mercury with this placement may fall into someone's Guiding. Your Asc is in Scorp, so that would make you less chatty to a degree. How do you see your Asc affecting you? .gloria

Interesting interpretation....I can dig it, .gloria......Last night I was just reading at Bob Mark's site and it states that Virgo in Merc is almost too strong....and I can feel that one. At times (ok, honestly, at ALL times) I feel compelled to speak, not only because I love chatting but because I know I speak well......way more so than I type here. Add to that a Virgo Sun, a learning compulsion, and a high IQ, and I wander dangerously into the territory of a know-it-all, with a big mouth. Here comes the good part..... I think its my Asc that saves me from being the aforementioned person-who BTW, is a personality type I cannot stand. Scorpio puts a brake on that tendency, shutting up my dominant Mercury so that I take the time to listen to other people's viewpoints. Who wants to listen to someone who doesn't listen to them? It helps my driving need to communicate, because I need interaction- someone to bounce off of (heavy Libra influences) I need conversation, not just a soapbox. Scorpio also helps me channel my strengths, because Scorpio wants to understand the motivation, the deep seated desires that drive people to believe what they do. It makes me good at interrogation, at asking the right questions to get the information I crave from people to keep a discussion going. Scorpio does, however, disincline me to discuss my feelings, which is fine. I don't want to share my inner self as much as I share my intellect. Thats my private self, and altho I can see in my life where its a detriment, thats my lesson to integrate. I love my Asc. I think it helps balance my chart, so that I can use the good stuff to its fullest potential, and helps me to understand the negative aspects, and learn to work with them. MK IP: Logged |

Hello everyone,I'm glad to see the interest in this topic. I myself have Jupiter as my Guiding Planet, and it seems to relate to me pretty well. There is also a section on the site for the Guiding Planet in the houses for those who want a deeper analysis. It's located on the side bar to the left of the page. IP: Logged |
