I have a Sun, Jupiter and Neptune stellium in 12th. Cat, i think you're right about "soaking up atmospheres"I definitely have to cleanse myself of other people's energies almost on a daily basis, depending on who I come into contact with during the day. Sometimes I'll encounter someone with severe emotional pains and I can't shake that off afterwards very well. A nice, long bath really helps. When close friends of mine break up, I feel it like it's happening to me. I have to make conscious efforts to distance myself and not adopt the emotions as my own. (While being supportive at the same time--very difficult) I have a hard time dealing with people who are very emotional and project themselves strongly (ie my mom) and I can shut down if I'm overloaded with those feelings. But, this goes in all directions, too. Anyone around me in an excited or elated mood rubs off too. Same thing for encountering people who are good terms with me--lovers and crushes. After a long day at work or whatever, a hug from my lover absorbs all the good, happy feelings between us. Weirdly, though, death situations don't affect me as much. This might be a 12th house thing, but I have such a different outlook on death that when it is present, I'm often the "rock" that others anchor to. I can handle death better than rejection most times, but not insensitively--I'm in total awe of such a major transition that feelings of personal loss take the passenger's seat. This is only with death itself, though, not the suffering that sometimes accompanies. Since my 12th house is Sag, I think extreme sensitivities to animals comes with that placement, too. And also, plants. IP: Logged |

Somehow I have missed that thread before... Wow @ 12thhousearies' post.To continue that line - my 2th hs hosts an abandoned baby-dragon hibernating in the healing sanctuary of the oceanic womb. That's scary accurate. Like it! The thing is how to get a baby dragon out into open? hot_ice, Aen, sana ~ Me too! Pluto in XII. Actually I rather liked one of the glib in-a-nutshell interps that I read: 'it's easier for you than for most others to go thru deep life-changing transformations.' And I believe it! Here's something I got from a pop-astro website, a karma report:In Astrology, the Twelfth House represents the unconscious -- anything that is hidden, intuitive or difficult to explain. Therefore, this House also represents the ways in which your subconscious mind may hinder or otherwise influence your conscious mind and actions. It is in our subconscious minds that we carry our karmic memories, which can influence (and, often, undermine) our current life efforts. Fear and guilt are two of the largest hindrances to personal growth and transformation. Subconscious fears and guilt are quite difficult to face head-on, as they are difficult even to identify. But if we can remove the blockages created by this type of subconscious feeling, we can greatly enhance the growth of our souls. This report can help you to identify any sources of guilt or fear that may lie in your subconscious mind. If you find in this report that there are several descriptions of planets located in your Twelfth House, then you may be unusually influenced by past lives and your subconscious mind. In this case, past life regression could be quite illuminating in the exploration of your hidden self. You possessed great personal power in a past life, power that you abused. You may have been a magician, a con artist or a palm reader who used your powers to control others -- to make them fear you and follow your direction. You used your magnetic personality and your powers of persuasion to your own, selfish ends. In your current life, as a result, you fear your inner power and what it could do, if unleashed. You tend to be submissive in your romantic relationships and may even be magnetically drawn to charismatic, powerful types that mirror the person you were in a previous life. You are at risk of falling into relationships with people who want to control you, who want to use your passivity and timidity to their own, selfish ends. Your karmic lesson in this lifetime is to lose your fear of your own power, and that of those closest to you. Rather than backing down in the face of others’ intense anger, for example, you must learn to accept that anger, not to be swayed or intimidated by it. After all, anger has a rightful place in life, as do all other human emotions. Anger does not have to be used for ill purposes. Learn to establish an emotionally open, equal relationship with a partner who cares for and respects you. Creative projects and regular exercise will also help you build your personal power and reconnect with your true, inner self. When I was younger, the "passive" and "timid" description above was probably true. But not now! Steven Forrest writes in “The Book of Pluto”: quote: The best way I know to come to terms with the highest potentials of 12th house planets in general is to think of them as our ‘master teachers’ – inward spiritual giants that guide us, like kind gurus, into transcendent states of consciousness. Each planetary master teacher promotes in you a certain class of experience or perception which is customized to trigger evolutionary leap.... With Pluto in the 12th house, you were born with a unique psychic attunement to suffering....what happened was that you were flooded, overwhelmed with the psychic shrieking, whimpering and wailing of embodied life forms. And you shut down, at least partly. You had to.
Did either of you go thru periods of "shutting down", being The Hermit? I have my Pisces Moon (the detective, student of human nature, and human lie-detector) hanging out at Pluto's house (VIII), and nice sextiles from Pluto to my Libra stellium (Sun-Saturn-Neptune) in III, but I definitely still need alone-time to recover from the psychic overload than can happen from time to time. LOL Aen! "how do you get a baby dragon out into the open?" Yes, food! (Dragonriders of Pern) hi zoso ~ I feel much the same about "cleansing myself of other peoples energies" Thanks Cindi for your awesome descriptions! IP: Logged |

I am 12th house baby too. Mercury, Venus, Vesta, Pluto and Uranus all in 12th. Wow talk about Karmic Debt. Just wondering why i chose this time to pay it all off?? LOL I definitely can hide my feelings(venus) and thoughts but also pick up on pther peoples stuff a little too quickly- way before anyone else does that could be my Pisces Moon too though. I am sure it just adds to the whole thing. I like to be alone .. Alot I dislike loud noises, people, places. I am not afraid of death- no fear of it whatsoever. I do get the sneaking suspicion that living is really hell. My faith and spirituality are of the utmost impotance to me and could not live without them and have always had a strong sense of faith eversince i was very young. I think i read somewhere that is a 12th house thing. Sometimes i feel like a butterfly just waiting to come out of my chrysalis. IP: Logged |

Cat is that you. Are you the same Cat from long long ago? Same country. If so, I was wondering what happened to you.About 12th house issues -I'm starting to learn to focus on the positive energies-- the meditation, creativity, art, compassion, healing, uncovering the subconscious to move forward by "facing my shadow." I started painting again and it feels great. After all, the 12th house is a Pisces house and if you think about all the wonderful things that Pisceans offer - know that they are also at reach for you. I think being a heavy 12th houser has had a bad rap. what you expect you'll get. So I say focus on the good stuff since dwelling will get you no where. IP: Logged |

My moon is in my 12th house, and people say I am too sensitive, especially to my surroundings... the way other people act affect me, and there have been times where I had to go home to be alone to get away from negativity, or too much excitement. I know things bother me that shouldnt. I always need to have alone time to regroup and rejuvenate. When I first found this out, reading about my 12th house it freaked me out to say the least, I was astounded. The description above says "abandoned child" which is even more freaky. I always feel like I raised myself. But with help from angels along the way. My parents and I have really just formed a relationship. I was bitter because neither one took time to raise me. Now it is okay, I wouldnt trade them for the world. IP: Logged |

I'm not saying this a snarky way but really they are just over your head. There is no tendency for self-delusion with the 12th house. If you think that, it's because they see or know something you don't. Or maybe they just aren't looking for perfection any more and they've just become pragmatic. Maybe they're getting something out of the relationship you aren't aware of OR maybe the person has feelings for the 12th house person YOU aren't aware of. I guess because my Mars is hidden too, very often other people, even their closest friends aren't aware of our relationship or their feelings. That's happened to me a LOT. 12th causes the person to attract the unnattainable through no fault of their own. The only men I've ever had serious relationship potential with were either married or somehow unavailable. That's the curse of the 12th. I haven't noticed a lot of secret enemies that I wasn't aware of them to begin with. Again-very intuitive. I've had a lot of the kind that noone else seems to realize their motives or their threat to me. I just can't seem to do anything about it. Then again, I have Jupiter in the 11th so I've also had secret friends in high places that have rescued me from the other enemies at times. Thank God for that placement. Self-undoing-yes, but not they kind you're referring to. It's more the choking under pressure and saying something stupid to undermine yourself. IP: Logged |

http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080628112728AA5XVCv Venus in the Twelfth House: is someone who hides their sensitive side. Barbra Streisand has this placement.Venus in the 12th House *You often hide your affection, or find your feelings difficult to express or get across to the person you love. Being openly affectionate and trusting often doesn't seem safe to you. You may feel your love won't be appreciated or reciprocated. You may get involved in secret love affairs or fall in love with a person who is quite unavailable to you. Love and sacrifice often seem to go hand in hand for you - having to give something up to be with the one you love, or having to relinquish some person or some aspect of an important love relationship. +You can appreciate the difficulties of others and be understanding of the problems they may be having. You value a certain amount of self-sacrifice and a giving attitude. You can discriminate between superficiality and the reality beneath them it. !Since you are rather shy and reserved about showing your love for others, you enjoy spending time alone. With your strong sense of compassion and desire to serve others, you need to take time away from the needs of others to recharge your batteries. You are very private about your affairs and may even keep your affairs secret. You are big on romance and you tend to live and breathe your partner once you’re hooked. Not the best at defining your boundaries—where your needs and your partner’s needs separate—you can get hurt in love rather easily. You can also feel used easily as well. You are attracted to people from all walks of life, finding a partner who has an unusual background or quirky personality quite pleasing. Partners who mistake your compassion for weakness can take advantage of you. Being openly affectionate and trusting often doesn't seem safe to you. You may feel your love won't be appreciated or reciprocated. You may get involved in secret love affairs or fall in love with a person who is quite unavailable to you at different points in your life. Love and sacrifice often seem to go hand in hand for you - having to give something up to be with the one you love, or having to relinquish some person or some aspect of an important love relationship. You can appreciate the difficulties of others and be understanding of the problems they may be having. You value a certain amount of self-sacrifice and a giving attitude in a partner, as you embody these traits. You can discriminate between superficiality and the reality beneath it. You can be quite mysterious to others, even if you don’t mean to be, because your romantic needs are kept hidden. Although you are quite naturally drawn to relationships that are unusual, secret, challenging, and unequal, do take the time to examine why this may be the case. Be certain that you are not, in some way, punishing yourself because you don’t feel worthy of an equal and public relationship. Because Venus represents attraction, and the twelfth house is associated with the feet, your feet may be especially attractive and/or erogenous zones! http://www.skyscript.co.uk/temples/h12.html Main Rulerships: The 12th house represents matters that are hidden, restrained, secret, incapable of action or of being fully understood. This can sometimes suggest conditions that are in a premature state of development and not yet recognised by the conscious mind (a recent horary on 'will I become pregnant?' showed the querent was already pregnant but unaware of it because of a separating trine from the Moon to Venus, ruler of the 5th, located in the 12th). Traditionally, however, it is a wholly unfortunate house, associated with sad events, sorrow, anguish of mind, tribulation, captivity, imprisonment, persecution, hard labour, all manner of affliction and self-undoing. It represents places that are denied access to public view, particularly those concerned with seclusion or isolation, or where one is restricted from living a carefree life-style, such as institutions or prisons. Many sources attribute monasteries to the 12th house as places of isolation, but otherwise monks and nuns belong to the 9th house which represents religious concerns. It has rulership over scandals generally, personal fears and skeletons in the family closet. I have often noted transits to Uranus in this house denote a time when guilty secrets and hidden vices are exposed. It has much to do with shame and the fear of future consequences and Barbara Watters notes: "very adverse connections between the 8th, 12th and ascendant may suggest that the querent is contemplating suicide" ([JoE], p.68); while Lilly notes: "the significator in the 12th house can show someone in despair" ([CA], p.42). Its significations include secret, unknown enemies, such men as maliciously undermine their neighbours or inform secretly against them: traitors, spies; witchcraft, malicious hauntings; weakness, infirmity and bondage. It also rules great cattle, such as horses, oxen, elephants, of which Ezra notes "Those which serve as a mount for men". It can be used to signify the mother's kin (3rd from 10th); finances of friends (2nd from 11th); sickness of the spouse (6th from 7th) and the death of children (8th from 5th). In Horary Astrology: As above applied to the querent.
In Mundane Astrology: The prison system; reformatories. Criminals, spies, secret enemies of the nation at home or abroad. Underground movements, secret societies and occult (ie., hidden) groups. Monasteries or places of isolation. Banished or imprisoned persons. Hospitals, asylums, institutions governing those who are weak, infirm, or in need of support, and as a result, the welfare state. In countries where relevant, concentration camps and those kept in slavery or bondage. Homeless people, the wounded and infirm.
In lawsuits, conflicts or events: This is the house of incarceration and therefore when emphasised in a trial chart can indicate imprisonment for the defendant. Outside of lawsuits, it may show that the perpetrator of a crime goes into hiding. In conflicts or unfortunate events it suggests the work of saboteurs, unhelpful fateful influences or unknown elements of destruction. The Sun in the 12th house in the chart for an unfortunate event may show that underlying factors do not come to light or public knowledge.
In Medical Matters: Specifically the feet, but it is a general indication of ill-health and disease.
In Commerce: Particular care should be taken if the 12th house is emphasised in charts concerning business deals. Unknown factors may be at work, relevant details may be held back, and the general reputation of harm and self-undoing attached to this house does not bode well for commercial activities.
Colours Green
Qualities: Cadent, feminine, nocturnal. A dark house and reputed to be the most unfortunate in the chart.
Direction: East-south-east.
Associated Planets: Saturn rejoices in this house; Lilly notes: "for naturally Saturn is author of mischief' (p.56). Cosignificators are Pisces and Venus.
Names: Mala Fortuna ('Bad Fortune'). House of Enemies. Lilly notes: "vulgarly called cataphora ['casting down'], as all cadent houses may be".

Since when is "saturn author of mischief?" What does that mean? It doesn't seem to fit saturn at all. I thought this was a bad placement for saturn...? IP: Logged | |
