Nice to see you kids having such fun. 26 (strange how HSC calls you Taurus ) Im not that much into scorps, as they are into me ... Most of the guys who asked me out were mostly Scorpio. My mom, best friends, mostly all folks in my life are Plutonions. My son has a Scorpio Rising and his dad is a full scale Pultonion. I feel I have a good understanding of how they work. Its like the jungle - people who have never been there are fascinated by the mystique and charm but to a trained naturalist, it holds no secrets or romance, yet he loves it with a passion for the reality it hides from everyone but him. And HSC, being total opposites does hold its charms, sometimes I can apprehend what a Scorpio is going to say or do much before it actually happens. And dont worry, I love all Scorpios, cause they are the most wonderful sign of the circle, Taurus included (though Sag and Taurus are a close second, followed by the Fishes.) And thanks AJ, I always liked you but now even more than before. I totally got 26's point, though I wish her Cappy side was less harsh with the facts sometimes Love you guys IP: Logged |

CUPID, aka AMOR was the Roman god of Love, son of Venus and Mercury; and in Greek mythology he was EROS, son of Aphrodite and Hermes. He took as his wife the beautiful mortal maiden PSYCHE ...on the condition that he would join her only at night so she never saw his face. Their dark nights together were full of love and passion; though Psyche had a fear that her loving husband might also be an ugly monster! At the urging of her sisters (and her own fears) she hid a knife and candle by their bed one evening before he came. After Cupid fell asleep, Psyche silently stole out of bed and lit the candle. As she held the light up to his face she saw not an evil ugly beast... but a most handsome young man with wings! In her surprise, she spilled some candle wax on his sleeping face. The hot wax woke Cupid, and he flew away as he cried, "O foolish Psyche! Is it thus you repay my love? But go; return to your sisters whose advice you seem to think preferable to mine! I inflict no punishment on you, other than to leave you forever." Like the mortal maiden Psyche, we sometimes let our own insecurity (or the opinions of others) blind us to a True Love which waits before our very eyes! Sometimes we cannot trust our feelings and our souls to sense Love, but insist on seeing it with our eyes! "Psyche" is a Greek word for "butterfly" and also for "the soul". At times, the beautiful butterfly of Love looks more like the lowly caterpillar; and sometimes Love lives in a self-protective cocoon concealing the loveliness inside from the gaze of mortal eyes. Aphrodite was upset because her son remained the size of a child and took her problem to Themis. The wise Goddess of Justice told Aphrodite that Eros needed a brother, for love must be returned if it is to grow. And so ANTEROS, meaning "returned love" was born, and Eros grew quickly. Anteros, the god and avenger of slighted love punished those who did not love others and scorned love itself. IP: Logged |

CERESis the Greek name of Demeter, the Roman goddess of agriculture. She looked after the fields and crops. Ceres is part of an ancient myth that helps explain the cycles of seasonal change.Hades -- or Pluto -- the god of the underworld, kidnapped Persephone, Ceres' daughter, and took her to live with him. A single mother, Ceres felt abandoned by her daughter's absence. JUNO, known as Hera in Greek mythology, is subtly tied into the legend of Lillith, Adam's first wife before Eve. She was independent and quickly disappeared from Adam's life because she refused to be subservient. Juno was married to Jupiter (Zeus). Before their marriage, Juno was a very independent and active young woman. After marriage, she held the status of Queen of Olympus. VESTA was one of the most revered and trusted of all Goddesses. She was the Keeper of the Hearth and tended the sacred fire on Mt. Olympus. She is the eldest sister of Jupiter and the daughter of Rhea and Saturn.
Hestia, her Greek name, literally translates to mean "fire." She is revered as fire is: warming, soothing, enlightening, and essential to the soul, but less crucial to the needs of the flesh. Every fireplace on earth is said to be an altar to the sanctity of Vesta. Vesta was the Goddess of the Vestal Virgins, a group of women trusted for their truth-telling who wielded immense power in society. The Virgins held and protected important documents for the city. Death by torture came to any who was caught engaging in sexual activity. Becoming a Vestal Virgin was the highest standard a woman could aspire to at the time.

SAPPHO was a poetess who flourished in a very early age of Greek literature. Of her works few fragments remain, but they are enough to establish her claim to eminent poetical genius. The story of Sappho commonly alluded to is that she was passionately in love with a beautiful youth named Phaon, and failing to obtain a return of affection she threw herself from the promontory of Leucadia into the sea, under a superstition that those who should take that "Lover's-leap," would, if not destroyed, be cured of their love.As the Greek goddess of love and beauty, APHRODITE or Venus holds great power over both mortals and immortals. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that she is featured in numerous myths, poems, and plays; likewise, there are many representations of Aphrodite in Greek sculpture and vase painting. While several legends of Aphrodite emphasize themes of love and desire, some of most compelling myths deal with the consequences that the goddess herself suffers as a result of being the victim of love. The most beautiful of young men was ADONIS the son of king Cinyras of Cyprus and his daughter Myrrha. The gods turned Myrrha into a tree, and out of its trunk Adonis was born. Because of the fact that he was the result of incest, he was hidden in the underworld and looked after by Persephone. When Aphrodite saw him she fell desperately in love, and when he was killed while hunting by a wild boar, she pleaded with Zeus to bring him back to life. Zeus agreed to get the young man back, but he had to stay in the underworld during winter and be with Aphrodite in summer, thus making the vegetation die in winter and blossom in summer. The cult of Adonis was the first important cult in ancient Greece. It has been suggested that Adonis was a semitic god, since his name seems to be a grecian for of adon - the lord. The myth also resembles the Babylonian story of the god Tammuz death: here, it is Ishtar who laments him and brings him back to the world. IP: Logged |
