Blue Roamer -

Cliches are nothing new, but they're still truer than anything you or I can think of. Maybe, instead of looking for novelty in the psychic realms, you should be looking for consistency. If Sylvia was a fraud, I'm sure she'd have no problem making new stuff up. If she says what others have said before, maybe its because its true (there's a thought), and she just wants to confirm it.

Maybe try considering that possibility, next time you feel like making defamatory accusations like that.

Just a thought.

I dont mean to sound insulting at all, honestly, but, I cant stand people rushing to judgement, and I get emotional.

OMG!!!! Hope this does not turn into something that is really nothing. WE all have our opinions and is welcome to express them here on the forum I think, no need to get touchy at all we are all a diverse group and we are not going to agree on things, we should respect ppl's opinions and let that be it with out all the emotional lash outs and getting upset. If one believes in Sylvia good if one does not good too.

Fair enough.

But, I was objecting to the notion that someone ought to be denounced as a fraud, on account of the lack of novelty in her work.
An extremely flimsy argument, if you ask me.

I in no way see this as a personal issue. Blue Roamer is as likely to harbor false notions as I am. I see no reason to deny the emotional nature of defammation for the sake of a political correctness. I do not contest, by a long shot, the notion that a person should be free to voice their opinion.

I do, however, object to the notion that I ought not to contradict that opinion, if I feel called to do so, or that I should have to conceal the emotional aspect or nature of my objection, which, although it does not alter the essential gist of my remarks, yet, suggests the essential element of depth and significance with which they are imbued.

Since when does "agree to disagree" mean "not to disagree", or "to disagree, but with indifference"?

It amuses me that when people say things like this " dont mean to sound insulting at all, honestly, but, I cant stand people rushing to judgement, and I get emotional." ------they really DO mean to be insulting lol

I'm sorry that I don't appreciate sylvia browne, my opinion shoudln't affect your faith in her....I just don't feel that she has any great insights, and that she's simply in it for money.

RE: The original subject of this thread - Everyone freaking out about men...

There's just no stopping them BlueRoamer...new ones come out of the woodwork, all the time, all wanting the same thing.

Just pass them by if you're tired of it.

Sylvia is a Libra.

Roamer -

I'm not about to deny the anger your remarks aroused in me. I think what I had to say was true, whether it can be related to the present case of Sylvia Browne, or not. You may think it self-righteous of me to say so, but, as you know, sometimes the truth hurts. If that (truth) pained you, I am more happy for us all, than sad for you. If, on the other hand, you are only objecting because you feel, or think you were, insulted, then, allow me to assure you to the contrary.

If my object was to hurt you, then, yes, you would be right in considering my remarks an insult. But, my intention is only to speak the truth.

Pop stars are the ones with the maximum novelty, every month they come out with a new gimmick to entice people to the racks. So are starlets and others hungry for fame. They have large corporations behind them to research and resupply them with 'new' stuff. But often, original people who are not in the public arena for the money have to contend with lesser gimmicks and more of their original raw talent. And also, asrology is a study of stars and ancient concepts. Unless you reorganise the universe or reinvent history, there is nothing much you can do abt the 'oldness' of the work.

Thanks, Heart--Shaped Steve and Pixie, I had very little inkling that mentioning one of Sylvia's tenets would arouse such sniping on BR's part, he sure can be a curmudgeon sometimes! I like what Sylvia Browne has to say, and yes she is a Libra, born October 1936. I have seen her in person at lectures and I think she has a special gift. It's OK with me, and her, if you don't believe in what she says, because we all have our own paths to follow. What she says resonates with me, however, and her writings have helped me personally to grow spiritually. I hope you don't feel the urge to condemn that too, BR. If someone believes that carrying a rabbit's foot around helps, then it DOES help, since you believe.

I dont know enough about Sylivia to comment too much, I havent read any of her books but I've seen her a few times on TV in the past. She seems like a wise woman. She may be in it for money to a certain degree but what is wrong with that? If she has a talent and is using it, great! We all need to make money somehow. And it seems to me what she is doing is helping people to bring positivity and good change into their lives, which is fabulous. Cant knock that. I dont think she is trying to scam or con anyone. If she is spreading positivity and helping people better their lives then I like her. Just my two cents.
