I was wondering if anyone knew the significance of eclipses. I have read a little on the subject, but am still not quite sure what it all means. The reason I ask is because I have met both of the guys I've cared most for on an eclipse. The first, I met on a total lunar eclipse. The sun had just entered his sun sign of Aquarius (also my moon and rising sign) and the Moon was in Cancer, my sun sign. I found this to be interesting. Well, some years later I met the other guy on a solar eclipse. I read in an astrology program somewhere that eclipses would play a significant part in my life, similiar to Princess Diana (also a Cancer). Do you think that eclipses have some link to fate? Any ideas would be appreciated.IP: Logged |

Welcome! ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll IP: Logged |

randall, i love your alice quote. i have it on a card someone made me near my desk at work actually.melanie, eclipses do play a powerful part in life-changing events that occur in our lives. i met someone i became very attached to at the time of an eclipse as well. actually, what you want to do is set up an eclipse chart to see how a particular eclipse will affect you. youll have to do a small amount of research to determine the time of greatest eclipse, then set up a chart using that time and your own location. compare it in a synastry wheel with your own natal chart and you'll see. i dont know if this link will work, but i have set up a chart for the upcoming oct 3 solar eclipse because this will be a very important one for me - it occurs at 10 libra, and my natal AC is 12 libra. here's the link: http://tinyurl.com/7o4jg i know that link is prolly not gonna work for long. hopefully youll see it before it expires. it's just the eclipse chart i set up on astro.com compared synastrically to my natal. incidentally, i have already determined using nasa's site that the time of greatest eclipse for CDT is 5:31 am, so use that to determine what time to set up the chart for at your own location. i have a variety of links for you: http://www.mooncatsastrology.com/webpages/eclipses.htm http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/UpcomingEclipses.html http://www2.bitstream.net/~bunlion/bpi/Eclipse.html http://www.skyscript.co.uk/eclipserules.html http://practicalastrology.prettyfedup.com/articles.htm i hope those help. i have tons more but that's all i could find for the time being. basically, eclipses occur about twice a year in pairs. there are a few exceptions. the pairs consist of one lunar and one solar. the house that the eclipse occurs in will be most significant and you could experience great losses and gains in that area and its opposing house, consider that house as well. an eclipse is about tearing down what isnt necessary and showing you the way to a happier place (even if it's not what you originally thought). it's really crazy, the power of an eclipse. another technique many astrologers use is the prenatal eclipse chart. set up a chart using the last (solar) eclipse that occured before you were born for the time of greatest eclipse and the location you were born. this will show the karmic lessons you have chosen. if you have any questions just let me know...sorry i dont have time to go into more detail here. one reason eclipse cycles may be important to you is that you were born close to an eclipse. does your sun or moon conjunct your nn? if so, then you were born around the time of an eclipse. -chrissy

I found an old book by Jan Spiller called Spiritual Astrology that discusses eclipses in thorough detail and i was amazed at the insight. There is over like 2 pages for solar and luna eclipses in each sign. IP: Logged |

I have a question about this. I would guess that where the eclipse chart sun/moon falls is where and how you'd feel the eclipse. Is that right? Then, would you just take into account the aspects the sun/moon makes from the synastry chart or all the synastry aspects to all of the planets? Mustang - its actually for the meaning of pre natal eclipses in your chart as opposed to forecasts. They were very insightful. Both Lunar and SolarIP: Logged |
