There are 30 degrees per sign. They are numbered 0-29. The degree indicates where that planet was when you were born. It doesn't indicate a more intense influence if it's in the higher degrees.

The most significant degree position I've heard of is the 29th degree. Since it is so close to the next sign, that planet may be affected both by the sign it's in as well as the next sign. I've also read that it means that there is something left for you to learn from the sign it's in (you weren't quite able to escape it and move on to the next sign).

There are other meanings to degrees, but I think most of them are fairly subtle. We'll see if other people show up to talk about them. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about degrees too much.

Sun is in 29 Degrees Gemini.
Moon is in 11 Degrees Aquarius.
Mercury is in 00 Degrees Cancer
Venus is in 19 Degrees Cancer.
Mars is in 11 Degrees Gemini.
Jupiter is in 01 Degrees Libra.
Saturn is in 03 Degrees Libra.
Uranus is in 26 Degrees Scorpio.
Neptune is in 23 Degrees Sagittarius.
Pluto is in 21 Degrees Libra.
N. Node is in 01 Degrees Leo.

Taurus 0-10 degrees= Artistic and creative. Very stubborn nature. Cannot push a bull but you can lead him if you know the ring in his nose is Love. Sensual side of nature needs controlling. Aspects to Venus will be important.

Gemini 20-30 Degrees= Would have success in business, science, or heading big corporations or large groups of people. Excellent business head and keen mind.

10-20 Degrees of Aquarius= The type of mind that roams that universe sitting at a desk. Keen intuition. Ideas should be grounded by being used. Curiousity very active. More friendly than the first decanate.

0-10 Degrees of Cancer= Reacts more subconsciously than consciously to life. Timid and shy in early life. Receptivity strong. Needs to learn not to respond emotionally to impressions or feelings.

10-20 Degrees of Cancer= Mystical tendencies strong. Note the aspects to eight house and the aspects between the Moon and mars. Strong tenacity and stubborness. Has to overcome resentment and jealously.

10-20 Degrees of Gemini= Creativity and artisitic talent strong. Should have a career dealing with people in a personal sense. Very likable type. Very restless and dislikes routine work. Can be lazy.
