There's some interesting info already posted on Pholus http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/006662.html but I decided to dedicate it a separate thread. Pholus in Houses
Pholus in Houses I. This is a position of the cosmopolitan mind. Pholus on the ascendant or in the first house marks a mobile and unregular life. II. Roaming access to your account and temporary loss of money when Pholus is in the second house. Pholus has it's own oblique ways to make you find the things you miss in life. III. Briefs such as this analysis, quick schedule builders, blitz interviews and a sense of overall improvisation with Pholus in third. Pholus thelepats your favorite city and escape destination. IV. Changes are studied and patterns of timespace arrange for insight with Pholus nadiring. This is the position of the master spy. Snooping around the kitchen in the early morning makes for a paparazzo scoop in the late evening. V. Celibacy and meditation with Pholus in fifth. One definitively has no love for trivia. To others he might seem a troublemaker. The lover as companion in adventure. VI. Pholus in sixth. Rituals such as of left tantra. Success as seaman. Swiss banks protect your capital. A discrete standard even after heavy taxing. Generally a symptom of good health. VII. Unmarried does not mean haremless. When Pholus is in the 7th house, the soul mate is from another place. It might even be off the planet or from dreamworld. VII. This is a very loving position. Tears will clean the way to sincerity. Davison relationship synastry chart reports will determine the time of love. IX. Dreaming together and contacts with your guru in the astral kingdom. Pholus is about traveling and is accordingly obviousely strong in 12th 3rd and 9th. X. Artists could profit from this position. The would be guru has yet to discard his uman frame. Media like TV. Not a steady job at ll, movimentated career, paid not to work, poltron, flatterer, double agent. XI. Moving inside his own clan he keeps the core sincere. Pholus is a happy family man when the big clan prospers and perhaps lively transactions happen from within it's circle. An advice increase severity and nevertheless cherish the woman as the centre of the clan. This is NASDAQ's position. XII. Samadhi is the end of married life. Yin and Yang unmarry here. Tao knows neither Yin nor Yang. One quits entangling himself with the world of duty, parents long gone, he quits mindane business and has false mind ("his" ego) as the only devil to face to the end. TrueMind takes over, dissolving the salt doll of "ego" or "foreign instal", daily mind. Events funneled, as if guided by a mysterious hidden god. TrueMind in the movie director's seat. ------------------ It all depends on how we look at things, and not how they are in themselves. Carl G. Jung IP: Logged |

I was contemplating my 10th house and charting asteriods, and discovered that Anubis is at 14 Gem, between my MC at 13 Gem and my Mercury at 17 Gem. Peri wrote: quote: AnubisTraveling through the labyrinth of the soul. Coming face to face with Universal powers.
Well, in a way I cn readily relate to that, although I know these all are still heavily debated. I am currently trying to finish a novel that I began writing 10 years ago when I was , ahem, "crazy" (and I mean crazy - I had a mental breakdown). It's essentially a journey of a soul through a kind of psychic labrynith where the souls confronts his own subconsciousand then comes face to face with what you could sya is an comsic power. Because it is such a strange concept, and things like magical realism is so popular, I am hoping I can actually get this one published. It may very well be my first major publication. Actually, many of my stories contend with similar themes - sort of "soul journeys" that are at the fringe of this reality and contend with humanity's relationship with cosmic powers. I tend to call it mystical existentialism. It sems to be developing as my own writing "voice" - seeing Gem MCs are common among writers, any body conjunct would be significant, especially if it was conjunct Mercury as well, yes? Perhaps Anubis is being an infleunce here. So I'd be an "Anubian writer" and my work "Anubian fiction" maybe? LOL. I also have in my 10th (along with my Merc and Sun): Vulcan at 18 Gem Nessus at 18 Gem Ceres at 21 Gem It's getting to be a very crowded house, lol. IP: Logged |

Another interesting thing:Kronos is also conjucnt my MC and Venus, but at 8 Gem and in the 9th (Hadies is int he 9th, too, conjunct my Saturn in Tau). In my 1st house: BML, Apollon and Iris are all right on top of each other at 1 Libra. I have also have in the 1st, asteriod Lilith at 29 Virgo, Pluto at 27 Virgo, Lachesis at 22 Virgo (why aren't I lucky then???) and Uranus (a singelton) at 9 Libra. I also have Isis and Merlin conjunct my Chiron in Aries. That seems cool. Anyone knwo anythign about Harrington? It's listed on teh astro-com list of hypthetical planets, and it falls inbetween my Jupiter-Neptune conjunction. IP: Logged |

The Eight TransNeptunian “Planets” of the Uranian SystemCUPIDO Getting together. All groups: family, marriage, society, partnerships, organizations, corporations, collections. Art ... Cupido is a Super-Venus. The glyph is a combination of Venus and Jupiter, so where Venus means beauty, Cupido means art. Where Venus means love, Cupido means marriage. This is the planet of Togetherness. Cupido is the fastest of the TransNeptunian 'planets' and advances 1°23' per year. Cupido's orbit around the Sun takes 262 years. HADES All that is unpleasant, useless, antique, or deeply buried. The occult ... Hades is misunderstood, because many think only of the negative meanings: dirt, garbage, sewage, sickness, poverty, mistakes, and all things ugly and sinister. There is a positive side that deals with antiquity, depth, and past lives. Hades advances 1°01' per year, so its orbit around the Sun takes a little over 360 years. ZEUS Controlled, directed energy. Machines; creativity; leadership. All things military. Combustion engines. Compulsion. Drive ... Zeus is like a loaded gun that is aimed. Even the glyph looks like a rocket. It signifies well planned efforts. Zeus advances 0°48.2' per year. Its orbit around the Sun takes 455 years. KRONOS Superiority: the highest quality attainable; the ultimate in authority; standard of excellence; undisputed expert ... Zeus and Kronos traveled in very close square from 1900 to about 1970. All natal horoscopes from 1900 to 1950 have these two planets together on the dial. These two together speak of energetic, creative activity of the highest quality. Unfortunately, they also speak of warfare, armament, and military commanders. The world experienced both sides of this combination. Kronos advances 0°48.1' per year, just six seconds less than Zeus. The square between them is widening, with Kronos falling behind. Kronos takes 521 years to orbit the Sun. APOLLON The multiplier: expansion and spreading; growth and increase. Science, commerce, trade, industry, peaceful efforts ... The glyph is a combination of Jupiter and Gemini, and Apollon is truly a Super-Duper-Jupiter. Apollon advances 0°37' per year, so it takes 576 years to go around the Sun. ADMETOS The brick wall: steadfast, stable, immovable. Shrinking. Narrowing down to a sharp focus. Specialization. Endurance ... The glyph for Admetos shows an affinity for the sign Taurus and must be drawn with a base line to show the Admetos capacity to be steadfast, stable, and immovable. Admetos describes inertia, slow motion, and things that go around in a circle like phonograph records and ceiling fans. Admetos advances 0°35' per year, and takes 617 years to go around the Sun. VULCANUS All that is mighty and powerful. Strength. Intensity... If a sentence has the word mighty or powerful in it, the Planetary signature will have Vulcanus in it. If the Sun and Vulcanus are together, the vitality, strength, and muscular power describe outstanding good health. Vulcanus advances 0°32' per year. The orbit of Vulcanus around the Sun takes 663 years. POSEIDON Spirituality, truth, ideation, enlightenment, illumination. Wisdom and culture ... Poseidon has an affinity for Pisces and its glyph looks like a sideways version of Pisces. Be careful drawing the glyph, so it is not mistaken for Neptune. Poseidon is Super-Neptune without a negative side. Poseidon advances only 0°29' per year and takes 720 years to circle the Sun. The preceding discussion gives a brief description of the basic natures of the TransNeptunian “planets.” The practical applications and usefulness of these “planets” are found in their combinations with Personal Points and other planets, both traditional and TransNeptunian. A discussion of all possible combinations would be quite extensive and beyond the scope of this chapter. However, a few examples are provided to whet your appetite. The examples below show how the fundamental nature of Cupido is modified when combined with other planets SUN + CUPIDO Since Sun classically refers to a person, this can mean the artist, the married man, the member of a society or family. The Uranian astrologer also interprets the Sun as the physical body, so this will mean a body able to express an art (pianist, ballet dancer). Other meanings are art object, club member, fraternity brother, corporate man. MOON + CUPIDO Since Moon is female, the combination of Moon and Cupido means the wife or the bride. It can also mean Ladies’ Association, or a social gathering. The Uranian astrologer recognizes the Moon as also meaning the time interval HOUR, so Moon Cupido means hours of art or sociability. The Moon also refers to the public, so look for public manifestations of one of the attributes of Cupido. MERCURY + CUPIDO Mercury is generally considered to be the planet of communication: thought, speech, writing. It is also the planet of youth. When combined with Cupido, the following key phrases are developed: Thinking about marriage; talking about marriage. Thoughts or opinions about marriage. Thoughts or opinions about art. To think of the family. To call home. To phone some relatives. Social conversations. Speech, music, song. Intellectual associations. Youth groups: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts. The staff of a newspaper or magazine. The Telephone Company; AT&T. ITT. Sprint. MCI. Dear Abby column. VENUS + CUPIDO Because the glyph for Cupido has Venus, and Jupiter, this combination has Venus twice. The combination leads to the following key phrases: Marital happiness. Love Marriage. Social pleasantries. Pleasant company. Beautiful art creations. Group of Fashion Designers. Group of Beauticians. Collection of objets d’art. MARS + CUPIDO Mars is the planet of action. Mars combined with Cupido describes someone active in art or art activities, someone who is an active member of a club or community. Key phrases include: Marriage. Marriage partnership. Work partnership. Working with others. Group activity. Stress in the family. A fight in the family. A gun collection. Gun Club. National Rifle Association. JUPITER + CUPIDO Cupido has elements of Venus and Jupiter along with other characteristics, so the combination of Jupiter with Cupido leads to the following key phrases: Happy marriage. Successful artist, who makes money through his art. Fortunate or successful partnerships. Family happiness. Sociability. Money through marriage. Money through the arts. Happy group of artists. Travel group. SATURN + CUPIDO Classically, Saturn represents limitations and restrictions. The Uranian astrologer defines Saturn also as separation. The combination of Saturn and Cupido leads to the following key phrases: Separation from associations. Separation in the family. Separation of marriage. Separation from partnerships. Divorce. Losses in art. Nursing home. Attending a wake. To leave a corporation or a company. URANUS + CUPIDO Uranus is the planet of the unusual, the innovative, the astrological, and the electrifying. The combination of Uranus and Cupido leads to the following key phrases: Sudden marriage. Sudden wedding. Elopement. Sudden event in the family. Astrological Society. Unusual group. Innovation in art. The Electricians’ Union. Airplane Pilots. Computer organization. IBM. NEPTUNE + CUPIDO Neptune, in its negative sense, is the planet of illusion, delusion, dissolution, deception, and fraud. In its positive sense, it implies dreams, inspiration, the medium of film, and the theater. The combination of Neptune and Cupido leads to the following key phrases: Spiritual association or community. A nunnery. A seance. Dissolving a marriage or partnership. Photography Club. Film Company (Kodak). Actors’ Group. Swimming Team. Drinking group. Alcoholics Anonymous. Artistic inspiration. The Gas Company. Violin section. Dance Troupe. Anesthesiologists. PLUTO + CUPIDO Traditionally, Pluto is considered to be the planet of gangsters, the underworld, the underground, street gangs, the mysterious, the forbidden, and sex. To the Uranian astrologer, Pluto also represents subtle change, growth, development, transformation, and metamorphosis. The combination of Pluto and Cupido leads to the following key phrases: Changes in the family. Changes in a partnership. Changes in the human society. Social transformation. Development of art. Growth of a company. http://www.arlenekramer.com/uranian_eightplanets.asp IP: Logged |

Peri,So if Pholus is associated with "sudden awakenings" moments of euphoria, ...etc does this mean, if I get you correctly, we tend to find people of our Pholus sign or who aspect our Pholus (conjunctions mainly) with their luminaries especially, cause these moments inside us? Or we tend to view them in that light so to speak? Would that then apply to other asteroids, I don't have one single planet in Capricorn, it is my 6th house but I have Eros there, almost all people whom I found sexy are either Cappies or have Cappy placements? These are the asteroids working with their Sun, Moon, ...etc same would be with other asteroids I imagine? Strangely my Pscyhe in Virgo does not like Virgos nor does it respond to them! I edited to add that I have been reading about aspects of unconditional love or spiritual love and I found a lot on Neptune and the asteroids CERES and AMOR. Ceres is sort of motherly love but Amor is the lover's love but unconditional, not like Ceres with its motherly overtones...I just thought of making up an aspect, A's Amor conjunct B's SN and B's Amor conjunct A's NN. How would that feel?! What sayeth thou lady of the asteroids...? IP: Logged |

Experiences with natal positions of PholusA person with a prominent natal Pholus is in his actions guided by impulses whose motivation he is not really aware of. Actually, he is confronted with energies or parts of his nature that are not incarnated, i.e. that hang over or about him like a cloud (Neptune, the aphelion of Pholus) and urge towards incarnation (Saturn, PholusÄ perihelion) within the material world. In other words: Pholus stands for parts of our nature from which we are still cut off and with which we try to get into contact. The parts in question may be those which cannot be soundly unfolded, or on the other hand a domain where the person intently strives for and with time even reaches great progresses. A combination of Pholus and Mercury, for example, can indicate highest precision and almost magic power of a personÄs mercurial abilities, or on the contrary legastheny and dyscalculia. Pholic impulses are blind in a sense. They press on being realized even if they do not "know", what could be their appropriate place in the actual order of life. On the contrary, they are in conflict with the established conditions. The person in question may feel impelled to actions, motions or gestures that give rise to disastrous life situations. So, Pholus finds himself in a strain between self-destruction and enlargement of his own character by additional energies or horizons of experience. The pholic person walks on the narrow path of great and seemingly easy success, with the risk of catastrophic slips. Whatever happens, afterwarts the person is altered. He has broken with his past, has stripped off an old skin (Greek pholis means "squama" or "skin"), has got over a rocky edge and unexpectedly attained a wonderful tableland, or else is stumbled over it into a precipice. Instead of blindness, Pholus sometimes gives visionary power. In the myth he is a haruspex, i.e. he reads from the entrails of offered animals. People with Pholus at the IC are often very inspired, sometimes spiritual channels or fortune-tellers or work with the pendulum. But in the myths, the seer is often blind. It is not easy to dream the future and, at the same time, actually realize the present circumstances. More details on the interpretation of Pholus can be found - for those who read German - in our book on Pholus. (s. Bibliography) Experiences with transits of Pholus It goes without saying that, besides the study of mythology, astronomy and the effects of Pholus in natal charts, his qualities in transits had to be investigated, too. A new planet must cause distinct experiences when transiting, for example, the natal sun or the ascendent. This is especially true if it belongs to the slow-moving ones and the transit lasts for several months or even years (in case of delay by one or several retrogradations). Therefore we decided to place Pholus on this kind of probation, too: we collected detailed experience reports of volunteers for all important Pholus transits during their hitherto life. Thereby, we took into account conjunctions, squares and oppositions of transiting Pholus with respect to natal main axes, main planets, Chiron, Pholus himself and the lunar nodes, as well as passages through the Placidian houses. The maximal orb we used was 2À. We listed the periods of pholic influences in their varying lengths in form of a table beginning with the birth and ending at the present time and presented them to the participants. To avoid the danger of influencing them, we gave no hints on the kind of transit or the factors involved. So they groped in the dark, as it were. Only after they had returned us their written experience reports, we commented on their respective transit theme in a personal talk and searched after deeper meanings. To our surprise, the most transits of Pholus in the lifes of our informants had been accompanied by subjectively important and impressing events and developments. The only exception seemed to be the transits of Pholus over the lunar nodes: people were seldom able to report something. But apart from that, in almost all cases, especially at conjunctions, the participants used to mention distinctly noticeable changes and developments, be it during a house passage or a planetary transit, though they did not know at all what transit was in question. Of course, we investigated whether there were other transits involved, but this turned out to be true only seldom. While evaluating the reports we could with time sift out the following typical transit qualities of Pholus that used to show up in the lifes of the participants both in disagreeable and agreeable variations: Pholus intensifies the natal factor affected by him in a way that we are impelled to unusual and often thoughtless actions in the domain in question. Frequently one feels a kind of "goaded on" and under a hardly sustainable permanent strain. An underdeveloped facet of the affected part of our personality suddenly appears. On the one hand, this often gives us a spontaneous insight into our deficiencies in the domain concerned. On the other hand, it drives us even more towards a change. The participants often felt a wish of riddance. The old and hitherto sheltering way of life becomes too "limited" and is stripped off without much effort and sometimes even "accidentally" (cf. pholis, squama". A skinning effect). Some persons characterized this process as an "awakening" of new energies, capabilities and insights, often accompanied by a strong enthusiasm. Pholus seems to launch us again and again into unexpected frontier situations, where we feel demanded too much and eventually exceed the bounds of our possibilities. In these periods of transition from a suddenly lost security (Saturn) we find ourselves helplessly exposed to and confronted with the neu haziness (Neptune). In this situation we run great risk of calamitous misreactions (self-sabotage, accidents; cf. Pholus death in the myth). On the other hand, this "wobbly" state may give rise to a positive new beginning that leads into a richer and intenser life. In both cases there is a tendency, that the subconsciousness determines the "course". After all we found that almost all Pholus transits mark more or less important turning-points in life. People often leave behind old things relatively fast and spontaneously, open themselves to unknown new things and therewith grow out of their old self. The way in which this happens with Pholus transits distinctly differs from those of the known planets, as sketched above. So, Pholus is indeed clearly perceptible in transits, and according to our experiences his astrological power is by all means equal to other main planetsÄ transits. For instance, we recommend to look at the transition of Pholus over the rising or setting points. At those times there was an important turning-point in the lifes of most of the participants of our transit research, though nothing of such kind had been indicated by transits of other main planets. Experiences of similar importance were undergone at passage times of Pholus over MC and IC... ...In a sense, Pholus offered a "vague precognition" to the discovery of these realms, other keywords given by von Heeren. But when Pholus is involved, such vague perception often leads to concrete and tangible results. Something starts like a wispy notion (Neptune-styled) and then rapidly takes on form (Saturn-styled). Given that Pholus's orbit crosses the orbits of Uranus and Neptune, with their revolutionary changes and compelling spiritual processes, as well as that of Saturn, the most traditional planet, you can be sure it carries a lot of energy wherever it goes, and can wear many masks. At other times, the energy of Pholus feels like a pressure release, akin to shaking up a bottle of Pepsi on a hot day, and promptly opening it. It's just that the stuff keeps coming out. A genie coming out of a bottle is perhaps a better metaphor, but that, too, comes with the sense of materialization. Pholus has a quality of opening the door to the infinite. Depending on the door, that may or may not be helpful, or seem helpful, but it is what it is and when Pholus has become active, it's necessary to get out of denial and work with the energy consciously. Pholus has the property of release from situations, thus opening to new possibilities, and emerging into new states of existence. It is the Centaur of fast-moving changes, or rapid transformations, typically initiated by one's own action. Something as simple as curiosity or a chance encounter may start the chain of events. One quality of Pholus experience is, "I would never have done that if I knew what I was getting into," sometimes with the added idea, "but I'm glad I did." A small gesture that leads to something large, a minor project that becomes one's life work, an experiment that takes on a life of its own, leading to many developments, all are properties of Pholus. Pholus, von Heeren adds, is "the catalyst and provider for a landslide-like change (in history for example) and turning points," adding, "Pholus exaggerates energies in their raw state. Pholus is an emphasizer." In some cases, Pholus activity represents or instigates situations in which something gets out and you can't get it back in, such as when riots begin and the government cannot stop them, or you make one change and it cascades into a series of other developments. This same quality also gives Phlous experiences the quality of a leap to a new level... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pholus http://www.centaurs.info/menu/index.htm?page=/newphol.htm "Pholus transits are associated with "new frontier" situations – it is an instinctive impulsive energy that dissolves old barriers and one is challenged to jump into previously unchartered waters. Because the Pholus energy is so unfamiliar we might first experience chaos (Neptune) before things settle down and we find a structured outlet (Saturn) for this new way of being. In personal charts Pholus often relates to previously undeveloped creative/artistic talent or spiritual awakening as well acts of martyrdom and self-sacrifice. In the short time I have been observing mundane charts, I have found that Pholus transits offer an opportunity to transcend outmoded structures/belief systems, often necessitating the sacrifice of some cause or ideal for the benefit of the whole, with the aim of raising collective consciousness".. http://www.centaurs.info/menu/index.htm?page=/Raising.htm and...the other entries are very short "Pholus in any exact major aspect with an" http://www.azastrologers.org/Newsletters/newsSept2004.pdf "Pholus: For the ending of an old life and the beginning of a new, higher life". Good bump, thanks!I have tCupido conjunct moon, venus, and sextile uranus!! Sudden marriage? How slowly do these move? Are transits from them significant? IP: Logged |

* 5145- Pholus As far as movement for Pholus I did a quick check [manually I do not own the Swiss Ephemeris program] and approx. 4 years in a sign seems to be the deal.- Dec. 2 1995- Enters Libra
- Oct. 20 1999 - Enters Scorpio
- Jan 22/23 2005 Enters Sagittarius (depending on time zone)
- Today - 2/18 Pholus is 10* Sag.
That slice should give you an idea about the transits [then and now] that might have affected your own natal chart.IP: Logged |

So, Tr-Pholus is exactly conjunct my Neptune and NN now. And widely conjunct my ASC, but already has passed it.Recently, when I payed more attention to Pholus, I realized that he played a certain role in some of my synastries. DD IP: Logged |

Bumping again No More One Way ~ 6 March 2009 The second centaur discovered, Pholus, nudges against a fabulous galactic enigma, the Great Attractor (GA). The position of the Great Attractor is 14 Sagittarius 02 and Pholus inches closer in the short term today at 13 Sg 01, soon to retrograde away. However, given the massive gravitational effect exerted by the Great Attractor, Pholus is now in orb and will be for quite some time to come. Likely it’s time to look ahead into the promising trends touted by this wise augur. Pholus actually makes exact contact to the GA in January 2010, May 2010 retrograde, and December 2010 for the final pass, remaining in orb for many months in 2011. It is worth noting that the centaur Hylonome arguably is also in orb of the Great Attractor at present. She comes very close to exact alignment, and like Pholus dances back, making her exact contacts in December 2010, August 2011 retrograding and September 2011, staying within range of influence well into 2012. Curiously as Pholus finishes his business with the GA, Hylonome picks up the scent. Could it be that these two centaurs offer invaluable insights that may provide insights such that consciousness may shift in accord with the more optimistic views of 2012? Absoldamnluah!
Let’s establish a little background to make sense of these trends. Prior to a few years ago, the Great Attractor was considered to be the most powerful gravitational driving force known. Certainly the GA sips in our local group of galaxies and a whole lot more. Ultimately we head in the direction of the GA, which we now know is pulled by the Shapley SuperCluster more or less hidden from view by the GA. The Shapley SuperCluster contains in part, a region of eight clustered galaxies, the Shapley 8. These eight galactic entities focus on Abell 3558 located at 2 Scorpio 20 when referenced to the ecliptic. Shapley 8 may guide the GA in the Universe much like an offstage cue intern. It seems Shapley 8 is now the most potent gravitational influence known on our cosmic side of town. The cosmic octet pulls the GA, which draws in our local group and which contains the super-galactic center which captures the galactic center which pulls our Sun and solar system to it. With the GA we’re getting really big picture and with Shapley comes a more incomprehensible Universal view (much more will come on the Shapley SuperCluster in the future). For fun, check out http://www.atlasoftheuniverse.com/superc.html. We’ re at the center of this plot. The Virgo cluster is the Super Galaxy containing our galaxy, the Centaurus SuperCluster contains the Great Attractor and the Shapley SuperCluster contains the huge gravitational magnet known as Shapley 8. Perspective somewhat set, let’s consider what the Great Attractor actually does. We know it is so gravitationally intense it vacuums space on either side of it for 60 megaparsecs - suffice it to say there’s a swarming river in space heading to this point in Sagittarius. It emanates potent energy in all frequencies of the known electromagnetic spectrum. The strength of its gravity is so intense it can literally bend light as to see behind it. Symbolically we encounter irresistible drawing power, energetic inclusiveness that leaves no frequency left behind and the ability to see behind an object, presumably rendering full disclosure. Here we have cosmic transparency, irresistible insight and knowledge, and the exclusion of nothing. Finally, there is no longer any validity to the “only way” or “one way” proclamations. Within ingenuity, insight and energetic alertness, option-oriented reality prevails. Now back to the first of our grounded, earth-connected centaurs, Pholus. Next to Chiron, he was the wisest and most just of all the centaurs. His node and perihelion, both by Sun-centered measure, appear in Cancer. Pholus, an augur, lost his sensibilities when the revered Hercules came to town. Alas, Pholus started the donnybrook between the centaurs and Hercules over possession of the sacred wine, which he opened to serve his esteemed guest without proper ceremony. The safety tip to remember: Whenever food or drink are in play, toast, say grace and offer blessings before consumption. This way one stays in favor with sacred protocol. Despite the rather bad ending that included the wounding of Chiron, there are many positive images that can be derived from the Pholus archetype, and with contact to the Great Attractor, these should spread to include global appeal. Issues of food and drink abuse, addiction and substance use and abuse come to light. While we try to make sense with how greedy companies can justify the deaths of consumers when processing milk or peanut butter, everyone becomes one step more conscious of what is put into one’s body. Perhaps this principle could be extrapolated to Major League Baseball where professional athletes whose bodies are their tool of employment persist in declaring they injected themselves with something but they didn’t know what it was. Seriously, folks. We can expect people to develop sharpened instincts about what serves their bodies and what does not, especially with but not limited to alcohol. Curiously, Pholus maintained strong patterns in the charts of the law declaring alcohol prohibition in the United States and the law that later repealed it. With transits to Pholus and from Pholus, I have observed people cold turkey cease the use of alcohol or drugs and/or change their diet especially regarding the consumption of meat.
In the mythology, when Hercules came to dinner in Pholus’ cave, the centaur cooked meat for Hercules while preferring to eat raw meat himself. More common in Pholus manifestations is the relaxing of a vegetarian diet to include fish or meat, however some use the transit to begin a meat/fish-free eating routine. Perhaps one of the more notable components of the Pholus to GA pattern occurs because one’s consciousness shifts about what serves the body and what does not. The consciousness actually occurs because one’s body speaks loudly and one pays attention, discouraging no bodily insight. All the centaurs were sensualists, meaning they responded to and included all the senses without discrimination - a point that appeals to the energetic nature of the GA. Maybe an acceptable alternative to existing alcohol and drug dependency programs may result. Those who have conquered addiction the AA way adamantly declare there is no other way. Yet numerous examples of Pholus patterns declare that supposition untrue. Sometimes people stop because their body says so. (And the needed disclaimer: a person is encouraged to seek whatever help they must in healing food, alcohol, drug and psychic addictions and disorders) In the early days of the Pholus-GA pattern and under Obama’s administration, the Drug Enforcement Agency has sworn off medical marijuana busts. Maybe the growing drug war problem in Mexico that threatens Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California can be partially quelled with marijuana’s legalization. Yes, there are also far more serious drugs involved, but a start is a start. Maybe food legislation can come about. Certainly some standards must be increased regarding bacteria and intentional negligence. Wouldn’t it be cool if genetically engineered foods were banned and chemical companies admitted what they know to be true about BGH substances in milk? With the influence of Pholus, addictions will likely be called addictions and brought to the forefront of consciousness for clearing and healing. If one checks an online profile more than fifty times a day to check on the status of new “friends” there may be a problem on the compulsion/addiction front. If one cannot finish the great novel but Twitters well into the twilight of life, not only are thumb disorders likely, one’s consciousness becomes but a thumbnail of what it once was. The effect of Pholus to the GA in personal consciousness shows as individuals decide to eat and drink more healthily despite the economy. Fast food consumption is on the rise in the recession. But one can eat a relatively healthy and very tasty lunch at Chipotle Grill - partially funded by McDonalds - instead of eating at McDonalds and for about the same amount of money. It really does boil down to a person paying attention to how their body feels. Even more fundamentally, make friends with your food before consuming it with a thoughtful invocation. Refuse to eat food prepared by angry people. Get a sense of what your body likes and what makes you feel like it’s all worth living again. That way, a huge chunk of remorse begins to fall away. The matter of remorse leads us to the centaur Hylonome. The soulful companion of the handsome and totally devoted Cyllarus, Hylonome fell upon the spear that killed her mate rather than endure the grief. On the personal interpretation front, Hylonome with a perihelion in Libra and node in Virgo, is a stickler for knocking down issues of grief and longing. She works with our consciousness to shed grief, guilt, shame and blame. For all intents and purposes she now is in working range of the Great Attractor, too. New modalities for clearing out severely toxic emotional reactions shall surface. Hylonome supports the modality of “have all feelings in the interest of clearing and get done with them.” Of course, get assistance as needed, especially in overwhelming circumstances. But assistance may not be in the form of an antidepressant that requires another drug to enhance its effectiveness. Hylonome urges us all to feel whatever we do. She supports seeking ways of clearing difficult emotions and surfacing above them once again. She should appear in therapeutic modalities and it would not be surprising to see a non-dialogue based method of emotional clearing on the not so distant horizon. It should spread like wild fire. Imagine! With better body sustenance and clearer psyches, it’s no wonder than a wide array of alternatives never before considerable can now be seen. It is a long, devoted gaze to ponder out into the Universe to Great Attractor proportions. But it can be done.
