We hear so much about the Ascendant and Descendant, I was wondering what everyone's individual ideas on the IC/MC axis are. How do they manifest in your life? What are your experiences? Any planets directly on their points? How does that effect you? I'll start...with example I suppose... My IC is in Aquarius, My MC is in Leo. -All my life, I've been part of the "odd" family within my extended. Our lifestyles are different, viewpoints, etc. We don't even talk with any other family members often, mainly because they see us as snobby/proud/arrogant (MC), and we see ourselves different and detached (IC) from them.
Mars is conjunct my IC- Parents argue a lot, mostly about social issues being from very different religions (Baptist vs. Muslim) and very different viewpoints., and finances (Uranus/2nd house..). My IC/MC (parents) axis tends to flip flop as well... Both of my parents are aggressive and emotional (Mars/4th-Moon/10th). Both are super dramatic, yet are also detached. Both are workaholics (Moon/10th). I'm not close to my father AT ALL, and he's kinda separate from my emotional needs (Aquarius IC). Yet also, my mother and I are so close we could almost be friends (Aquarius IC). My dad is super drama KING (Leo/10th house), my lord, and he's well rewarded in his career (Leo/10th). My mother views career choices as an extreme importance, over almost anything else in life (besides happiness). My mother is also quite dramatic, and loses her temper quite frequently..(Mars opposite Moon). My dad sees women the traditional way (should be nurses, work from the home... w/ children), however, views the women in his life as superior and almost goddess like beings that are to be worshipped (his mother, my mother, etc.) I could go on, but I really wanna hear others responses! ------------------ Libra Rising, Scorpio Sun, Leo Moon IP: Logged |

Thats cool how you recognized your experience with your parents, not everyone can do that. I am not exactly sure if I can pin my experiences with my MC/Aries and IC/Libra, or what it means to have these ones in particular ------------------ Sun in Libra Moon in Cancer Jupiter in Cancer Venus in Virgo Mars in Cancer Ascendant in Cancer IP: Logged |

I can't resist the urge to quote Karen Hamaker-Zondag, the Jungian astrologer/author:The MC is like the flag you proudly wave from the highest tower of your castle that tells other folks something about who you are while they're still approaching from a great distance. Very often it reflects your chosen career or perhaps, some other avocation or interest to which you ascribe import. The midheaven closely resembles the Jungian term "persona". The persona is the outer, external mask that we each construct to protect the true inner core of our psyche (Imum Coeli, or IC) from the everyday, bumps and bruises of the external world. The danger (in Jungian thought) of the persona is when we sometimes end up identifying with the mask that we've constructed for society's sake. We start believing the protective mask we've constructed is the real us. We then ignore/repress many of our true needs, desires and wants. This refusal to give life (or expression) to our basic needs and desires then results in a whole host of problems. I have Cap on the IC and Cancer on the MC. No planets in 4th or 10th. Fitting though -- I think people see a Cancerian (nurturing) energy in me (emphasized by a Piscean Sun) before they'll actually see the reserved, practical, cold side of me (Capricorn). It's not until someone gets to know me they see the Saturnine influence.

IC in Libra Pluto conj. IC Pluto conj. Saturn in the 4th houseMC in Aries Sun conj. MC (8 deg. orb) Sun, Mars, Mercury all in the 10th house What does it mean? Not sure, but let me take a wild (WILD) stab… My father has worked nightshift my entire life, so I barely see him (Saturn/4th). Both of my parents, esp. my father, are ultraconservative and religious (Pluto/4th). Conflicting values have led to occasional power struggles. The conflicts never get totally catastrophic, though, because we all have a tendency to sweep things under the rug in order to reinstate peace in the house (IC/Libra??). IP: Logged |

I have Can IC with Saturn in the 1st house and Cap MC with Sun/Merc in 10th. Of course, you'd think I'd never see my dad with Saturn in the 4th but thats not the case. I had a great relationship with my dad. I think the Can IC is apt though, it was a very emotional household but at the same time difficult, this is what I see the Saturn in the 4th means. It also means that I try to structure my feelings, which I agree with. I was and probably still am very career driven, maybe the health of my ego depends a lot on the state of my career. I certainly used to want to be that mountrain goat on the summit, looking down below at all. IP: Logged |

At the top of my chart: Ive got Mercury, Mars, Sun in Aqua and Pallas Athena in Cap conjunct MC...Im still trying to find my niche in the career dept...Im teaching now, and enjoying it too. Will see what comes of it tho as Ive also got Uranus and Pluto in the 6th hs of work...and Mercury on the MC could mean a change of work. IP: Logged |

I have Virgo MC and Cancer IC...no planets in those houses, either, but I have tons of aspects to my MC. A lot of important people in my life have been Cancers, or have strong Cancer placements, even though I don't have anything in Cancer. IP: Logged |

I have cancer IC and Cap MC.I have sun in the 10th. I'm very career oriented. It means more to me than almost everything else in my life. And it isn't because of money that I feel this way. I just feel driven to suceed. I have to be a success for self fulfillment. Any other cappy MC's feel this way or am I an extreme case? IP: Logged |

Hey, tealogist, so we have another thing in common! Libra IC with pluto conjunct Well, in my case Libra had abs nothing to do with my home, except tht my Mom is a Libran. I have seen the Pluto energy manifest quite a lot, with constant fighting and the air always heavy with frustration, resentment and anger. I can't blame any one parent for it, they r just so different and stubborn in their own way. My father's anger was barely contained and erupted quite often, in the form or rages, while my mother had this way of harboring resentment and nagging and crticizing. and gosh, they r supposed to be Piscean and Libran respectively! My mom even has her moon in pisces! ILWL

Scorpio IC conj Uranus: I've always been a bit detached at home and super-secretive with my parents. Typically people with Uranus on IC are said to move often when they are kids but I didn't. Though I do move a lot now Taurus MC: Don't know for sure, probably I long for stability and money in career, but who doesn't? I have Venus in 10 hs which I suppose means I am one of those people who need to LIKE what they do. It also could mean an arts-related career... not yet I also have Chiron conj MC but have no clue how to interpret this... ------------------ Sun in Gemini AC in Leo Moon in Pisces IP: Logged |

Hmmm, I have Aries IC and Libra MC.I don't get why the 4th represents the father and the 10th represents the mother. Doesn't make any sense to me but...oh well. Aries IC. I have no planets in the 4th but the aries description totally fits my familia (atleast my mom's). Loud, passionate, sometimes hotheaded, open, gregarious, but not as obnoxious I guess the fact that there are no planets in the 4th shows how close me and my dad are...lol.
I have libra MC with pluto in the MC. I think pluto modifies it a bit because I see nothing Libran about how I present myself to society. Most people won't even come near me....lol. In the "pics-elate your chart" thread, I put The Godfather as a pic for my Pluto in the MC.
As for my career, I don't know if the medical profession qualifies....but ok, there is the healing part. And my mother is very religious and conservative, which I slowly creeping away from. She did have alot of influence on me though...as a kid. IP: Logged |

I have an Aries IC and Libran MC as well.I think it's quite fitting if I take my dad as the IC. My dad is a double Aries. Even though I have no planets in the 4th, Sun and Saturn are opposite the IC. My dad played a huge role in my growing up years, and my household is (really) like bouts of fire. What with a Scorpio mum and an Aries dad? Sun/Saturn opp IC : Me opp my father (usually in speech)! But that does not detract from the fact that I love him. I have Pluto on the MC as well, and I do understand the "godfather" part lol.. It's quite hard to balance detachment with intensity. My mum has Venus in Libra, so is that signified by the MC? I see my mum more as the 8th house anyway. Because my moon is right there. IP: Logged | |
