Peri said something on the sun/moon/asc results thread, about 19 degrees scorpio being a very destructive degree. Granted, she was describing it in it's mars position, but what about the moon/etc? You see, my sister has her moon at 19 degrees scorpio and I was wondering if this would still have any relavance. It would certainley explain a lot!Peri also decribed other destructive positions, such as 23 degrees aries and 13 degrees gemini, plus a few more. Could someone give me any more info on desructive degrees in astrology please? I find this fascinating. Cheers. IP: Logged |

Can we describe this with the word 'challenging' !??? There are no destructive degrees. Only energy that we choose to use in the best way possible. Do I want to sound like a Hallmark Card? Absolutely NOT. I have 5 T-squares, and 6 retro planets. My North Node is at 19 Scorpio. Directly opposed a Mercury at 19 taurus. Energy is energy. The basics of polarity causes you to ascend, or descend of your own volition. Choices, it's about choices too....IP: Logged |

Serpentis the "Accursed Degree" A malefic degree, tragedy, misfortune, the "Accursed Degree". This degree does not precess. 19° Scorpio Unfortunate Mars/ Saturn http://www.astrologycom.com/fixedstars.html another to keep in mind is that astrologers look at a planet in a certain number of degrees as being in the next degree they do this with sabian symbols
for instance,my Mercury is in 18'22 Scorpio so that would be seen as Mercury in 19th degree....especially with Sabian Symbols. 19th degree is not necessarily bad. the fixed star,Zuben Eschamali(Northern Scales) is present there. my placement was in 18'59 Scorpio, and so its in alignment with my Mercury. North Scale * Zuben Alschemali Honours, wealth, distinction, brilliant mind, success in sports, politics, war, religion, writing, tragedy, violence, melancholy 19° Scorpio 23 Fortunate Jupiter/ Mercury/ Mars
This what my Kepler program says for my Mercury placement
Weber (Mercury):
Traditionally considered one of the worst, most despised, troublesome, destructive degrees, but this is not necessarily true. A “wrecking crew”, often destroying those things and people which have eclipsed their usefulness. Partially Aries, but more Sagittarian, often unwittingly sponsoring Scorpio carnage - or should we call it regeneration? A devil’s advocate. Perceptive, opportunistic, easy irritated, persuasive and enduring, has good chances of success (North Scale of Libra here), and evil reputation is unwarranted; must avoid being own worst enemy. these degrees interpretations were used for horary and event charts!!!! not natal interpretations. before a battle or a sale, or a trip to a far land, ppl used to ask the astrologer to establish the most fortunate timing of such an enterprise. hence - these interpretations that helped with the timing. some have tried to use the same interpretations for natal but astrologically it doesn't hold. bc the fixed stars are not 'conjunct' in the usual way - being in a different plane than our solar system planets (they are far far far away). you ppl like sensationalistic stuff even when it burns your ears! words like 'unfortunate' or 'doomed' attract you like the flame attracts the flys. fascinating. and so very sad. So fixed stars aren't used in natal charts interpretations?? I dunno much about it thought (newbie in astrology still lol), just heard about those stuffs around so got curious.. ^_^;Nuoo~~ "unfortunate" and "doomed" words, don't really enjoy hearing them.. T_T although I do have some fascination in what's tragic or dramatic or whatever (when we read a book or watch a movie), I don't really enjoy it when the story is about myself lol.. :P IP: Logged |

I've read a lot of old school language in astrology. I don't know when the Fixed Star text was originally written....but it reads like an astrologer from back in Pharohs time. Kinda funny actually. But it is language of this kind; tossed around, and taken seriously that helps foster the image that Astrology is a load of ****. I guess I get defensive because there are a lot of people out there that think astrology is what they read in the newspaper. And closed minds are, well... you knowIP: Logged |

there are astrologers who use fixed stars in natal charts.Reinhold Ebertin did. Diana Rosenberg does. Anne Wright does. Philip Sedwgick does. There are astrologers who have done fixed star natal reports. I had one done...it used the alignments. Diana Rosenberg has fixed star natal report which uses modern, psychological interpretations for fixed stars. Bernadette Brady uses fixed star parans.
"you ppl like sensationalistic stuff even when it burns your ears! words like 'unfortunate' or 'doomed' attract you like the flame attracts the flys.
fascinating. and so very sad. " There is no need to be judgmental ok. Just because we are interested in fixed stars or degrees doesn't necessarily mean that we like sensationalist stuff including stuff like unfortunate or doomed. Don't try to loop us all into one group. You don't know what we like. I keep an open mind that certain methods could work. Heck..I believe that my mom's moon near the accursed degree has something to do with never knowing her mother, being in 13 foster homes, and her volatile emotions. I believe that my mercury near the accursed degree has something to do with my learning disabilities, communication problems, and my being misunderstood as well as my volatile speech at times.
It's pretty much all about
to each his,or her own.

Taurus/Gemini, the mentioned degrees are considered destructive regardless of which planet or angle is placed there. There are also degrees of murderer, suicide, violent death, psychic, welth, poverty, talent, sorcerer, malefic and royal degrees and some other. These degree interpretations are widely used in the Avestan School of Astrology and have nothing to do with fixed stars. They are used in natal, medical and horary charts. But of course it is up to a person whether to use them or not.IP: Logged |

Glaucus - once again you come up trumps!!! Thanks for the link!Peri - Thanks for your reply. It's for my sister that I asked the question. I've just started to get her interested in astrology, and she's fascinated by the scorpio placements in her chart. The last few years have been absolute hell for her and I figure that if she knows about the challenging aspects in her chart, she can then work through them. I hope this thread has not offended anybody. I admit I can be a bit of morbid sensationalist at times - but this question was asked with the best of intentions. IP: Logged |
