Cusps are largely debated among astrologers. Some say anything within 5 (or even more) degrees of the cusp manifests a blending of the two signs. Some say there's no cusp blending at all.I think it's a case by case deal, although normally, unless it's within 1.5 degrees of the cusp and/or there's apparent signs of sign blending that can't be explain easily otherwise, I'd probably say "not really." I tend to be a little conservative with cusps, however. Someone else might give you a completely different answer.

a 27 deg cancer sun, would often have other leo planets.. merc, mars, venus..so look there for influence first.i'm a late-ish degree virgo sun and have a libra packed chart. but yes. i do believe the closer we are to a particular sign, the more we are influenced by it. it's evolution really. just a big astrological wheel evolving. kinda like the moon in a way, how it waxes & wanes...at some point it peaks *full moon*..peaking in astrology could be 15 degrees I suppose??? anyone share this theory? I'm a mixture of both GN's response and lovely's...I do believe the closer you get to the end of a sign, the more potentially "evolved" you are in those traits and so you probably incorporated not only the traits of your sign but some of the most conspicuous traits of the next... however, I think 27 degrees and 3 degrees, (specifically because you asked) is too wide... I usually consider possible cuspage at like 28.5 through 1.5... I have a 2 degree Scorpio Sun, for the longest time I thought my Libran traits were attributed to my Ascendant (which I thought was Libra)...turns out I was wrong about the Ascendant but Venus is strong in my chart..so who knows..maybe it comes from being close to the Libra/Scorpio cusp...or maybe it comes from Venusian influence... I guess it's up to however you wanna look at it IP: Logged |

the theory about cusps and degrees around them refers to HOUSES, not signs (a planet within 3 degrees of the next house cusp is considered in the enxt house). i don't believe anyone on earth can pinpoint sun personality traits and differentiate them from traits that come from other planets (venus traits, mercury, etc). like someone said, it stands to reason that when a sun is at the begining or end of a sign, other planets (most likely venus and mercury) will be in the near by signs - so both signs will be apparent in one's personality makeup. there was a theory that a sign is stronger as it begins and weakens as it gets to its 30th degree... and another one stating the vice-versa - the 29th degree being the fullest of a sign, etc. either way... how would you know? what difference would it make - to you, personally? I say... go with the theory that provides you with the most benefits. the one you preffer... we will never know *for sure*, so why not indulge yourself... IP: Logged |

this is interesting topic. i think that the closer an aspect is to the next sign that you take on those characteristics somewhat.IP: Logged |
