Forgive my ignorance BUTHow do you calculate parallels and contras? The way it is explained in articles makes no sense at all. Are you using declinations for planets and decendants etc? If someone could give me one example i would be eternally grateful. IP: Logged |

go to www.astro.com > extended chart selection > upper left corner "view the additional PDF charts" > declinations > planets at the same degree of North or South lattitude are in parallel aspect (planets having equal distance in declination on the same side of the equator: Sun 19 N, Uranus 19 N or Moon 15 S, Venus 15 S); planets that have the equal distance in declination on opposite sides (e.g. Sun is 19 N, Uranus 19 S) are in conra-parallel aspect. The orb for this aspect is 1 degree.I only use this aspect for planets. P.S. Here is some info on parallels: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/011320.html IP: Logged |

Thankyou- but i am still confused- Does this include any planets? They don't have to be in aspect to be parallel?THANKS IP: Logged |

parallels and contraparallels ARE aspects. they are declinational aspects rather than longitudinal (as are the conjunctions, trines, etc etc -- the ones most people know about). please read this website -- http://www.skyviewzone.com/astrology/parallels.htm -- before proceeding with analyzing your chart via declinations. then come back and ask all the questions your heart desires. IMO, it's easier to understand something holistically if you have a bit of the basics. cheers, tara. IP: Logged |

Go to your chart declinations.... It's easier if I give you examples: for example I have Mercury at 20°44'46" S declination and Neptune at 20°54'28" S declination They're both at a South declination and (using a 1'30 degree orb) subtract Mercury from Neptune since Neptune is larger, there's only a 0°10'difference between them so they're Parallel. They would be Contra-Parallel if one was North declination and one was south declination, but because they're both South declination and within the orb requirements they're Parallel, they would be Parallel if they were both North declination as well. I hope this helps. ------------------ "The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart” `Helen Keller quotes IP: Logged |

You can also go to http://www.astrowin.org/astrology_software.php and download the free software "vocation" or "astrowin" and you can find your parallels/contraparallels through either one of those. IP: Logged |
