Many people know about the lunar nodes only, but the moon is not the only object that have nodes. other heavenly bodies do too.The node refers to the point at which a heavenly body crosses the extended plane of another planet's orbit. All the physical heavenly bodies have nodes. Not only do the Moon and planets have nodes,so do the minor planets that include asteroids, centaurs, and kuiper belt objects. The Node Book, written by Zipporah Dobyns in 1973, has information about the nodes of the Moon, planets, and the 4 major asteroids. Jeffrey Wolf Green believes that the planetary nodes are insightful into evolutionary astrology and that the south planetary nodes can give insights into pastlives. It is thought that aspects to a planetary node is like an aspect to that planet itself. I have Sun conj South Eris Node in Scorpio in 2nd/oppose North Eris Node in Taurus in 8th with 9 and 10 minutes of arc respectively. It is possible to get both geocentric and heliocentric nodes for the planets. Planetary nodes are regularly used in Heliocentric Astrology. Philip Sedgwick wrote a book about heliocentric astrology called. The heliocentric north and south nodes of heavenly bodies are always opposite each other. That is not the case for the geocentric nodes except for the lunar nodes. The more distant, the object, the more likely they will be closely opposite of each other. here is more information on planetary nodes http://www.astrologysoftware.com/resources/articles/getarticle.asp?ID=174 http://www.astrologyhoroscopes.info/planetnodes.htm http://www.heliocentric-astrology.com/Heliocentric_Planetary_Nodes.html http://www.astrologycosmobiology.com.au/planetary_nodes.html Uranus was conjunct its North Node in Gemini when the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki occured. Mars was oppose its South Node exact when 9-11 attacks started. Neptune was conjunct its south node and oppose its north node when Baghdad was invaded. I will post some things about them later. you can calculate planetary nodes with Solar Fire and Kepler also Jonathan Dunn's ephemeris calculates node of heavenly bodies. I definitely use it to find nodes of minor planets. I have been checking out personal name asteroid nodes in charts..especially in evolutionary astrology to check out insights into karmic, evolutionary lessons with certain people. I will post some things later. http://www.megadelfi.com/~jonathan/pos/ the geocentric planetary nodes can be used in synastry. I read that south geocentric planetary nodes of personal planets can be indicators of karmic pastlife connections. My girlfriend's South Venus Node conjuncts my Mars with 20 minutes of arc,and my South Mars Node oppose her Venus with 29 minutes of arc. That could indicate karmic pastlife as lovers. http://www.synastry.us/soulmate_indicators.asp Here is something from Zipporah Dobyn's book, The Node Book.
The geocentric north and south nodes of the inner planets, Mercury and Venus, may appear in any zodiacal sign. The nodes of Mercury can range from a conjunction when they are lined up with the Sun twice a year at 17 degrees of Taurus and Scorpio, on the north and south heliocentric nodes, to a maximum separation of about 45 degrees. The Venus Nodes similarly line up with the Sun at 16 degrees of Gemini and Sagittarius,on the heliocentric positions, and their maximum separation is about a quintile of 72 degrees. The geocentric nodes of Mars range from about 7 Aries to 2 Cancer for the north node and about 8 Libra to 29 Sagittarius for the south node. As the distance from the Sun increases, the viewpoints of Sun and Earth converge so that the geocentric nodes remain within smaller arcs until with Pluto, there is little difference between the geocentric and the heliocentric positions. I found Zipporah Dobyns Node Book very informative and insightful http://www.astrology-books.com/store/dobyns_zipporah.html the same with Jeffrey Wolf Green's Planetary Node Workshop DVD http://astrologybykimmarie.com/Merchant2/merchant.m vc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=JWG&Product_Code=JWGW-07DVD&Category_Code=JWGW

Welcome back, Raymond. It`s great to read from you again. On the topic: If I understand the link right (the one about the soulmats), then we look at conjunctions, oppositions and squares to the planetary nodes, right?
Well, I checked my nodal contacts with a certain guy and I got these: my Mercury NN conjunct his Venus (0°09) my MErcury SN conjunct his MErcury (1°17) his Mercury NN opposite my Saturn (1°03) my Venus SN square his Saturn (1°36) my Venus SN square his Pluto (1°18) his Venus NN square my Uranus (0°01) his Venus SN conjunct my Sun (1°37) his Venus SN conjunct my Mercury (0°44) my Mars NN opposite his Mars (0°58) his Mars SN conjunct my Mars (0°12) My Mars NN square his Venus (2°06) his Mars NN square my Venus (1°42) his Mars NN opposite my Pluto (1°15) his Mars SN conjunct my ASC (2°03) So, now that I have calculated these, how do I interprete them?
Also, how can I get Solarfire to calculate the heliocentric planetary nodes for me? Do you know?

Thanks for the nice words. You get the solar fire to calculate the heliocentric nodes by choosing heliocentric chart option.

all the Ptolemaic aspects can be used but also the quincunx and semisextile which are 12th harmonic whole sign aspects according to Zipporah Dobyns in her Node Book.for natal: I use an orb of 2 degrees for conjunction, opposition, trine, sextile I use an orb of 1 degree for quincunx, semisextile. Zipporah Dobyns used the semisquare and sesquiquadrate, and she gives a 1 degree for those. I don't use them myself...they are hard to see any way if you're using Jonathan Dunn's ephemeral or Kepler program. Solar Fire can show them though for synastry: only using the Moon and the heavenly bodies before Jupiter I use 1/2 the orb of the natal

Theory & Practice of Geocentric Planetary Nodes by Theodor Landscheidt The moon’s nodes and their interpretations are only a special case. General interpretational analogies of the geocentric nodes may be derived from the cosmic phenomenon that the orbital planes of two cosmic bodies intersect each other. In astrology this is a legitimate analogy operation. It yields the interpretational principles: intersection, interface, interchange, junction, contact; connection; union, nexus, convergence, coalescence. In psychological terminology, we get: meeting, relation, connectedness. Biological terms that reflect the nodal phenomenon are cell fusion, sense organ, synapse. As to practical realizations, we may think of society, club, conference, association, cooperation, traffic-junction, crossroads, network, switch aggregates, social contact, union with a partner.
It is easy to see that the nodes cover just that wide field of human relations that generates problems astrologers meet with in their consultations. She or he who does not take into account the planetary nodes does not take advantage of this special information that amounts to about 40% of the total information embodied in a horoscope. This implication is highlighted in detail when we look at the interpretation of the special nodes. They emerge when we combine the general interpretational principles of nodes with the well-known principles of the planets: Mercury’s Nodes: Principles: Network; symbiosis; association; purposeful union. Biology: Nerve tissue; nerve axons; impulse conveyed by nervous system. Psychology, sociology, & technology: Association of ideas; intellectual community; formal relation; verbal exchange; dialogue; brain trust; pooling agreement; economic cooperation; contract; correspondence; marriage of convenience; youth group; mathematical matrix; computer interface.
Venus’ Nodes: Principles: Sensual contact; copulation; amalgamation Biology: Conception; maintenance of organic balance by interaction of hormones. Psychology, sociology, & technology: Emotional connection: love union; sexual act; erotic-aesthetic tie; artistic cooperation; social bond; settlement of differences; harmonic union; coalescence of form elements; engagement; marriage; group of dancers; ensemble of actors; art union; cultural exchange.
Mars’s Nodes: Principles: Power transmission; joint activity; conflict. Biology: Copulation; transfer of energy; interplay of muscles. Psychology, sociology, & technology: Cooperation; joint fight; concerted undertaking; team work; controversy; panic action; sports meeting; team of surgeon; military units; war alliance; battle; network for transmission of energy; short-circuit; conduction of heat; heat exchange; interaction of forces. Jupiter’s Nodes: Principles: Organic compound; organic interaction; productive cooperation. Biology: Healing tissue; transplantation of an organ; organic macromolecules; blood transfusion; metabolic process; arteries and veins. Psychology, sociology, & technology: Joint happiness; creative collaboration; positive social contact; religious group; legal or moral bond; joint development; blood brotherhood; community; fraternity; religious order; guild; syndicate; state; parliamentary group; political party; trade union; agreement; contract; treaty; lawsuit; bank connection.
Saturn’s Nodes: Principles: Rigid connection; permanent union; cohesion of structures. Biology: Joints; wrists; ankles; sinews; connective tissue. Psychology, sociology, & technology: Exchange of experience; stable partnership; restrained or interrupted relationship; separation; partition; chronological or historical connection; transgression of thresholds; community of seniors; line of ancestors; genealogical tree; historical, philosophical or scientific societies; chain of cause and effect; anorganic molecules; striking the ground after fall; cement.
Uranus’ Nodes: Principles: Creative union; cyclic nexus; circulation. Biology: Stimulating sensual contact; oscillations of cell aggregates; irritation of nervous system; orgasm. Psychology, sociology, & technology: Sudden acquaintanceship; eccentric liaison; new partner; psychic resonance; grasp a connection intuitively; stimulating companion; excited family; technological team-work; revolutionary community; clash; vehement controversy; union of revolters; team of technicians; astrological association; orchestra; symphony; electromagnetic interaction; electric power line; resonance of oscillators; wireless transmission; television network; telecast interview; sudden incidents in community life.
Neptune’s Nodes: Principles: Immaterial connection; freedom of association; platonic relationship. Biology: Mental disorder; psychotic disorganization; contact with allergens; dissolution of cellular tissue; assimilate homeopathic doses of medicine or poison. Psychology, sociology, & technology: Subtle perception; supra-sensuous contact; platonic love; ethereal union; subconscious bond; dream associations; mystical union; samdhi; fraternization of mankind; homosexual relationship; secret criminal organizations; community with sick or drug addicted persons; circle of occultists; sectarian community; idealistic communism; dissolution of ties; mixture of colors; traffic jam.
Pluto’s Nodes: Principles: Exchange of vital information; nuclear fusion; existential connection. Biology: Information conveyed by regulation centers; karyogamy; schizophrenia. Psychology, sociology, & technology: Fateful relationship; karmic link; exert pressure on a partner; meeting one‘s inner life center (Self); “loss of soul”; mass meeting; nuclear fusion; nuclear fission; political influence exerted by mass media; interaction of nuclear force; wield demagogic oratory power.
Moon’s Nodes:
More special interpretative analogies had to be assigned to these nodes than the hitherto usual symbolical correspondences. Principles: Subconscious connection; instinctive association; relation subjected to change; contacts with the female sex. Biology: Exchange of fluid; sweating; sweat duct; beginning and ending of menstruation; penetration of spermatozoon into egg; delivery; cutting of umbilical cord. Psychology, sociology, & technology: Psychic bond; community with women or children; kinship; family contact: mother fixation; emotional relationship; conjugal union; public relations; marry and settle down; national community; feminist group; children in class. It should be noted that such interpretations that accentuate special qualities represented by terms like link, connection, association, union, junction, etc., cannot be derived from the planets alone.

welcome back RAY ur insights are always so sharp.about perigree/apogee and perihelion/aphelion i went to that ephemeris link u provided but u can only calculate perihelion/aphelion for planets not perigee/apogee. how do u calculate that ? also in synastry can u consider aspects between perihelion/aphelion and natal longitudinal points and perihelion/aphelion ?once again thanx for coming back, make no mistake u werer missed

the perihelion/aphelion for geocentric chart is the perigree/apogeeif you look at osculating lunar apogee and the aphelion for the moon, you will see that they they are identical. That is because the moon's aphelion is the osculating lunar apogee. I never saw anything on synastry with perigree/apogee except for with the lunar apogee which is aka black moon lilith. if you use synastry with perigree/apogee axis, then it would have to be the perigree/apogee axis of the Moon and the heavenly bodies before Jupiter. the perihelion/aphelion in heliocentric chart are very slow moving, and so is related to the collective IP: Logged |

glaucus, i m confused, the astro.com site has option inthe main list where objects are given to be highlighted, the lilith in that list is blackmoon lilith. but then what do h21, h13 int apogee and osc apogee mean. what is mre imp, the black moon lilith or the true/mean lilith can u clarify this , there is much confusion on this. i have BML, True and Mean all on 29.5 sag so i m ok but all others have very diff points. I answered your question on the other post. I use the osculating lunar apogee which is also known as true black moon lilith. I don't even like to refer to it as lilith. after all,it has to do with the orbit of the moon, and so it has to do with lunar symbolism the other heavenly bodies have apogee/perigree axises too, we don't label them either. The aspects to those axis are like aspects to those heavenly themselves. The same thing with aspects to the nodes of heavenly bodies. Understanding the Astronomy behind it helped me understand that.
