By the numbers, which list is right? E.G. the Dane Rudhyar list has: 1 Libra as IN A COLLECTION OF PERFECT SPECIMENS OF MANY BIOLOGICAL FORMS, A BUTTERFLY DISPLAYS THE BEAUTY OF ITS WINGS, ITS BODY IMPALED BY A FINE DART but Cafe Astrology lists this symbol as 0 - 1 Libra, so if you have a planet on say 0 Libra, would you read Dane's 1 Libra or Cafe's 0 - 1 Libra or Dane's 30 Virgo?Confused... 1 Libra Sabian symbol is referring to points/planets that are in 0 to 1 degrees Libra. So its the same thing. IP: Logged |

Oh wow guys - this question has been bothering me for a long time and I got responses so quickly - thank you So for dummies then, just to get it clear in my head - So if I had a point at 26' 24" Taurus is that read as 26 or 25 - 26 Taurus? - am I just making this harder for myself I have ordered Lynda Hill's 360 degrees of Wisdom, waiting patiently for that to come. Thanks for the other book suggestions and links How accurate do you find the symbols in terms of relating to your natal charts and transits? IP: Logged |

look, if you've got a planet at 0 degree 25 minutes, then you have to check degree 1 cause there's no degree 0. the first site you talk about is confusing indeed. but that's how it works.an exemple. i've got mercury at 0 degree 25 pisces so i check the first degree of pisces to know about mercury.

I have Lynda Hill's book, and it's excellent. I like the keywords that it gives. She explains the Sabian Symbols well....I found Edmund's book too abstract....for a Dyslexic, that's very difficult for me to understand. this is how Sabian Symbols go
0-1 Aries is 1 Aries Sabian Symbol 1-2 Aries is 2 Aries Sabian Symbol 2-3 Aries is 3 Aries Sabian Symbol now when you get
29 to the end of Aries...30 Aries Sabian Symbol then it goes 0-1 Taurus which is 1 Aries Sabian Symbol remember...there is no 0 Sabian Symbol and there is no 0 Sabian Symbol but there is a 30 Sabian Symbol
examples for mine
my Sun in 5'20 Scorpio...so 6 Scorpio Sabian Symbol my Moon in 3'11 Pisces.....so 4 Pisces Sabian Symbol my Ascendant in 13'27 Virgo...so 14 Vigo Sabian Symbol IP: Logged |

Ok - I edited my question, but your replies make sense now, so thanx Sorry to be such a dummy here, but I did find it confusing with the different number lists - hence my questions. But you've made this easier for me to work out now - thanx again IP: Logged |

i think it's very useful, it gives another perspective. but it's funny sometimes to read one book's explanation of one symbol which has nothing to do with another one. one thing to remember it's that it's a channeled information so it's accuracy is necessarily subjective ( i mean subjective because of the medium perception about it and his capacity to transmit his perception.) i don't think we should take them like written in stone but it probably can give a new insight into astrology.in my chart, i found them very useful to unerstand better MY particularities. cause a thing that i find really interesting about it is that there's no more one version of libra or aries but 30, and i guess if you do a thorough work on it you can probably manage to extract a common sense to each different interpretation for one degree on one hand and the unfolding of each sign's energy but that's almost a lifelong task... "...if you do a thorough work on it you can probably manage to extract a common sense to each different interpretation for one degree on one hand and the unfolding of each sign's energy but that's almost a lifelong task..." Praecipua - more and more I am finding this with nearly every aspect of astrology I look at I have been reading and studying and experimenting now for about 20 years, and still there is new and fascinating stuff every day, adding pieces to the puzzle! "phew!" But it all adds to the whole understanding and the quest for knowledge of oneself and universal meaning - I just love learning it all, even though it can sometimes be confusing and exhausting IP: Logged |
