Linda Goodman always advocated the Equal house system in her books. Nowadays most use Placidus ,Koch, regiomonatus and other house systems. This confusion about house systems has kept me from going in deeper into astrology for a long time. I'd like to know if there are any long time astrologers here who use the equal house system.IP: Logged |

i really identify with how my chart is in equal.. and then i discovered that where i moved to, my chart is virtually the same in placidus as my birth chart is with equal. so i'm confused too! i think placidus may be more valid, but astrocartography is very important too and changes your house postitions.IP: Logged |

I am one of those whose placements change quite a bit from Placidus to Equal. I have started to use Equal lately due to some placements that I feel are more correct about me (such as Mars in the 3rd Equal house as opposed to Mars in the 4th Placidus house).However... I have started to wonder if this is one of those things in astrology that will never be clear cut. Maybe all systems work overlapping with one another and there is not one single right system at all... For practical reasons I'm sticking to one system, as it wouldn't make sense to for example draw a natal chart in one system and then synastry in another just because the synastry looks better like that ;-) IP: Logged |

The time I will use equal house chart is when I get a birthdate with no time then I put the sun on the ascendant and go from there. I also use it in my impromptu readings with others and apparently I have been told that I am accurate so far - despite the lack of detailed info that most astrologers use.BUT with all given info that I am given I will use Plac and sometimes Koch to to readings but most of the time it's Plac. Plac is what I was introduced to and what I'm used to using. Though the equal house chart is intruging because there are no intercepted signs and it's easier to go around the wheel with it. Thanks everyone for your inputs! This topic can be quite frustrating so much so that an atrologer who has written a how to astrology book has done away with house systems alltogether. He just uses the planetary aspects and signs. I think i shall stick to the equal hose system as i too have found that i have a large number of planets in one house in the equal house system that are shifted to the previous house in other systems. The equal house system describes me best. Also the bit of unequal houses doesn't sit well with me. For now i shall start with the equal house system and stop putting off my learning astrology. In Quinnie's link Bucketrider's reply makes good sense to me too. Thanks Quinnie for the link!Once again, thanks everyone! IP: Logged |

I like equal house but the difference between equal and placidus is vast for me. With equal I have sun, moon, mercury, Venus, Saturn, NN, Chiron in 8th. With placidus it is all in 9th!!!!!!!Very different interpretTion of my character overall IP: Logged |
