What would cause someone to keep talking over another person in conversation? It's a trait I've noticed with *edited to add* three fire sign people I know (Leo, Sag and Aries are the people in my life that do it to the point of extremity). Don't know whether this has significance. Aspects to Mercury I'm guessing but any ideas? It drives me round the bend listening to this Sag have a so-called "conversation". He talks over people like they haven't even spoken and I'm sitting here seething listening to him talking over someone else and it is so, so, so annoying. Mercury's my uber-personal planet so I guess that's why I find it so draining. I call this trio "the energy vampires" and I try to avoid them. I even turned down a great job with the Leo EV as the boss because I can't get a word in edgeways and I'm constantly getting cut-off mid-flow. It is so unbearably rude. I knew it was impossible for me to cope with it. Any ideas?

I have a problem with timing often and I get excited about things and burst in but then I will not talk over another person, I will stop and let the other go first. Only exception is my mum.I have merc squ ura/opp saturn. Aries AC, jup on asc. I think my backing down is caused by libra moon.

Oh I should add that my mum frequently talks over me. I think she is sag rising; merc conj sun (both sco) squ moon/pluto (leo). She would have a mars-jup conj in the 1st as well. This all revolves around control, attention and expanse I guessIP: Logged |

My son has Sag Moon CNJ MC. He is very LOUD, never stops talking and yes, he does the talking over people thing a lot. He's young though, so he will learn to tone it down. I hope. My ears need a rest. "Let me finish" ~ my Leo Sun/Mercury/Pluto mother says to just about anybody who disagrees with her or offers an alternate viewpoint. A charming trio, bang opposite my Aqua Mars. Do we argue a lot? Do bears poop in the woods? Does Benedict XVI pray? IP: Logged |

I'm an Aries and Have a Sag moon, I have my mercury in Pisces though and have often been told that I'm a great listener. I tend to remain a bit quieter when I'm around a talkative person, but when I'm with a shy person, I try to keep the conversation flowing by asking them about their likes. I have an Aries sister In-law that does talk over others, she is also very child like and has no idea that she does this. I truly think it is wrong to lump all fire signs in a category like that. Fire is Energy, it brings sunshine, it doesn't take it away. I have a great deal of energy that I bring to a room and often people have told me they feel happier in my presence. Maybe I'm not your typical fire sign, but to avoid them all together is sad indeed, you just might miss a really great friend that way.Linda after all was an Aries, I'm sure that she listened when others spoke.

I do that sometimes. I try to temper it. It's not out of being rude, it's just suddenly I get an idea or opinion and I just can't WAIT to share it. If I don't get it out, I literally forget it in an instant (Mercury in 12th) So, it just blurts out. Now that I'm older, I control it better. Sag Rising, Jupiter in 3rd. Aquarius on 3rd house cusp, Uranus in 1st conj. AC ..Jupiter square Uranus. Mars (fast) sextile Uranus (communicator, 3rd ruler)(Basically, I'm a talker!)
In my natal, Mercury only makes one aspect, and it's a conjunction to Venus. So that influence alone wouldn't have much of an affect on this issue. However, if I look at midpoints... Mercury opposite Moon/Jupiter Mercury conjunct Sun/Uranus Mercury sextile Jupiter/AC Mercury square Mars/Jupiter Neptune conjunct Mercury/Mars AC conjunct Mercury/Uranus Moon trine Mercury/Uranus Mars sextile Mercury/Uranus Jupiter square Mercury/Uranus I'm banking on a Jupiter/Uranus/Mars theme with aspects to Mercury. ------------------ Sagittarius AC, Sun in Scorpio, Moon in Leo IP: Logged |

Hi Charlotte, I wasn't pigeonholing fire signs, honestly. Just three people that do this a lot. I have many many fire sign friends, more than any other element. I just happened to notice that the trio were fire, and also said 'Don't know whether that is significant'. The title read "Aspects to Mercury?" rather than All Fire Signs are Loudmouthed and Rude, or that I was "avoiding them all". IP: Logged |

Although reading back over my first post I can see why you may have thought that. Sorry. I should clarify, the three people are each Aries, Sag and Leo. Not the whole element and everyone in it. IP: Logged |

Ok, she plays Frau Hansen. She's called Nina Petri. Here's a link but the image is a bit grainy. http://www.sonypictures.com/classics/runlolarun/runlolarun.html IP: Logged |

I am sooo guilty of talking over people. It's absolutely terrible but I try to give them a chance and before I know it I'm blurting out something. I also have a problem with sticking to a subject. When they reply I'm already thinking about something else I want to say. This is a real bad trait.I have Mercury in Sag as well as Venus and Neptune all in the 7th house. Moon quincunx Mercury Mercury Square Pluto Mercury Quincunx Ascendant

I tend to put it to the masculine signs in general. The loudest person I currently know is a female Libra. As far as planets, I wouldn't necessarily start with Mercury. I would be inclined to look at Mars first. Seems like an aggressive action to me. IP: Logged |

Oh Plutomaki that's very annoying. I know a little Libra does that. 'Phone relay drives me insane too ~ if I don't answer the land line they call the mobile, then if that doesn't get answered back to the line. My husband and MIL both do that, but he stopped when I told him who he was like. Anyway I'm not a call centre ~ what's wrong with leaving a message? I think AG has a point. It is a bit of an impatient, demanding thing, Mars on overdrive. It's not necessarily badly menat, just, well, impatient. IP: Logged |
