Hi out there,in several threads I read about the 11th house as an indicator for "receiving love", how a person might receive love, probably. This thought was new to me - I always considered the 11th more as a "friendship house" and attached to matters such as high hopes and idealism. Did that theory verify in your lives? That the 11th house tells something about how you receive love? How love is given to you from other people? Or what could it mean? Mine is ruled by Venus (house cusp in Libra), and here are some of my planets/points there: - Jupiter - Cupido - Poseidon - Fascination - Toro - Aphrodite - Osiris - Union - Liebe - Happiness - Utopia All I can say is ... I tend to fall for the "wrong guys". Often the "Macho types" - although quarrels are forseeable. And I often feel disappointed, desillusioned. (I also have Venus square Neptune, though.) So, what's your 11th house like? IP: Logged |

On another thread CrimsonChyld has this poem, I hope she won't mind me including it here: quote: Make new friends But keep the old One is silver and the other's gold
A good friend is worth gold. Friends, it's a relationship you have because you like someone. I've been to funerals full of friends, no family present. Family, well, you don't pick them. Though if you are friends with a relative then that is a tight bond. What's in my 11th house? Uranus. It is Trine the Sun and Mars in Aqua. No other major aspects. It has happened several times that I lose touch with someone and years later we meet by chance and pick up where we left off. But I don't know, maybe this is quite common. Not necessarily a Uranus 11th thing. The ruler of my 11th is Venus, which on the chart is sitting on the Descendant in Taurus. Receiving love? I'd have to think about it.

HiMy 11th House is ruled by Leo. It's tenants are: 1. Virgo Sun 2. Virgo PoF 3. Virgo Venus 4. Virgo Amor I have never been emotionally involved with someone who was not my friend, which means that even after breakups, even after we do not speak to each other, on special days like Christmas or birthdays, we touch base to just say, "I am your friend." being careful to NOT effect the dynamics of our current relationships if we have any. Also - This is the house of LOVE and friendship because to me it determines how or where I meet my "lovers" so to speak and how they affect my life. Firstly, I always meet potential suitors via work, or through colleagues because I am not the type to take dating seriously enough to go on single's nights, or to go clubbing with the intention of finding a mate, or even blond dates. I have never been on a blind date. What usually happens is that a friend host a party and voila, I meet my Mr Right Now; and obviously, I meet them at work, in meetings, at work related events etc. I can't think of one person who I have loved who didn't have some sort of connection to my career or my friends. Also, all of my lovers have been good citizens. LOL. I mean, they were people who had they lives sorted or they found the inspiration to sort their lives out upon meeting me. This means, my life always improves materially with every guy I have been with. It is a coincidence because I never meet them made, but they usually become so after we get together due to a new found ambition. So, my station rises with every "lover" and my "lover" is always someone I trust, a friend or someone my friends trust. So, Pof, Venus and Sun in a Leo ruled house... you can imagine how good this placement has been to me. I hope I made sense. I am a little drugged. IP: Logged |

Very interesting... my 11th house has Libra on the cusp, and my Pluto in Libra, and Uranus and moon in Scorpio are in the 11th house. I'm not sure how this relates to how I receive love though. I'll have to think about what it means for me.IP: Logged |

I have found some helpful material on this in "Houses of the Horoscope" by Bill Herbst. When time allows I will type some of it up. I'll probably put it on my page as well as that is a handy filing cabinet. Uranus in 11th quote: some of your highest experiences are brief, little more than encounters, ships passing in the night

More from Bill Herbst on Uranus in 11th "Receiving Love": quote: Expect the unexpected in love. Courtships come out of the blue with astonishing suddeness, and they awaken you into a heightened state of being, as if you'd never been alive before. This represents an altered state of consciousnes, one so polarized that is can't possibly last. And it doesn't. The feelign of being loved can leave as quickly as it came, but that too is a valid part of the experience. Receiving love is on and off with equal impact, keeping you on your toes.

WEll, Uranus is technically in the 10th house but only 0°14 before the 11th house-cusp, and I count it more to the 11th house than to the 10th house. I can relate so much to what you wrote. "Courtships", infatuations, attractions, even falling in love really happens very sudden and unexpected in my life; it is like a shock that shakes me to the core of my being (the reason for that deep impact must be the fact that Uranus and cusp of 11th house is in Scorpio), and yes, it makes me feel as if I have never been alive before, it electrifies everything. And then it`s gone, that feeling. AS suddenly as it came, it`s gone, and I hate when that happens, it`s like crashing down like a stone, and the ground mostly is a very hard place to crash on ( and it only happens on the inside, the other person can stay the same, and yet my feelings change). And then when I somehow come to terms with the fact that that wonderful electrical feeling is gone, and that i just have fallen out of "attraction" yet once again, it`s there again, even more vehement than before. Like when I turn my back on that feeling, it`s sneaking on me and hitting me from behind. lol It`s a constant up and down. Also people come unexpectedly into my life and leave it just to reappear somewhen later. There are some people, though, who stayed in my life for a very long time and are with me even now. Mostly the people I would have thought to have disappeared quite quickly. That is Uranus - always doing the unexpected. And if you expect something to dissolve quickly, he can even make it last for a life time (or at least over 16 years) as it is with that friendship. But the important thing is both of us have profoundly changed over the years and accompanied each other in our growth, always knowing, that we are not the same, and that despite many common traits, we are very different in other respects, but we do respect that. But the ruler of my 11th house, Pluto, is in 10th house conjunct the MC, so I think I want to make my friendships lasting and significant. oh btw I have Union conjunct the 11th cusp (from 10th house) and Anteros and Siva in 11th house. These are interesting contributions you all made. I recognized that the ruler of my 11th house is the same as of my 7th: Venus. (Libra on 11th, Taurus on 7th). I really didn't get the meaning of the 11th completely, until. All I can say for sure is, that it definitely seems to be linked to my hopes/expectations and ideals regarding love ... I'll keep an eye on what else you folks post here. ;-) IP: Logged |

It can take a while to accept, but sometimes looking back you can see that some things stand as they are short though they may have been in time ~ if that makes any sense at all? As for Venus-ruled 11th housing Uranus, with Venus in the 7th, this doesn't mean you won't ever have a long-lived relationship. I have this placement and have had the same partner for 15 years.
quote: Also people come unexpectedly into my life and leave it just to reappear somewhen later.
This happens to me as well, I have come to expect it. There is a strong emphasis on LL on relationships that are romantic and sexual. But I don't think the subject of receiving love should be restricted to this sense, certainly it doesn't work like that in the larger world. IP: Logged |

Just another thought ~ people taking a strong liking to you suddenly could be part a way Uranus works out of the 11th house ~ because we are talking receiving love, not how we give love ~

So, Uranus would rather signify how OTHER people like me? Does that also imply I would be interesting to Uranian people, since Uranus is in my 11th house?IP: Logged |

Could be. My Uranus is Trine Mars in Aqua, and the Sun. Aquarians seem to like me ~ and I married one. He has Moon Trine Uranus. Maybe you will get attention of people you least expect. Unusual and quirky people. You might get suddenly 'swept off your feet'. It could work out many ways. I don't think it is going to limit itself to fleeting relationships. Maybe the aspects Uranus makes will give you some clues? p.s My husband has Mars in the 11th house. Mars rules my 5th house. IP: Logged |

My 11th cusp is in Aries, with Jupiter situated there. Jupiter is in mutual reception with Mars in Sag in my 6th house (loosely conjunct my DSC).IP: Logged |

Blue Moon,I would like that. Unusual, quirky people. Unexpected attention. I would like that very much actually. Well, my Uranus doesn`t have any very exact aspects (except for being exactly conjunct asteroid Union), it only has sextiles to Sun (5°), Mercury (4°) and Venus (5°), all in 1st house. Interestingly enough, onto the exact midpoint of Uranus (Scorpio / 11th house) and Jupiter (Pisces / 3rd house) falls my Venus (Capriocrn / 1st house). Oh yes, and I forgot, Uranus is conjunct the antiscion of my True Lilith. IP: Logged |

Thanks so much for posting the info, blue moon. Mine is downright spooky: quote: Moon in the 11th ~> You want tenderness, to be held and feel secure. Feeling love is so important it could be called an emotional hunger. Sometimes you might eat when you're not hungry, which is the pitfall of this placement.
And it's a full moon, in Scorpio. quote: Pluto in the 11th ~> You may wonder if love will ever find you, despair of it. When it does find you, it will shake you to the core of your being. Love consumes you, destroys you, rebirths you, and finally, alters you for ever.
And it trines my Venus. IP: Logged |

I have been trying to understand my Neptune in the eleventh house at 2 Scorpio. Any thoughts about what it means to have Neptune in the eleventh?Looking at it as the house of friends, I haven't had that many friends in my life. Just one or two really close friends. But they never stay. Something always happens...they move away, or I move, and we lose contact. Whenever I do develop a close friendship with someone, it feels to me like they are "taken away". Or maybe because Neptune "blurs", I don't see that I have friends? I know lots of people at work, but no one that I really consider a close friend. No one that is there for you when you need someone to lean on. I have been struggling with this for years, this sense of not having any friends. But I could deal with it because I still had my family, my husband and my daughter living with me. I think my relationship, my partnership was always more important to me than the friendships were. I guess that's my Venus in the seventh house at 25 Gemini. I read somewhere that being in a relationship/partnership was like breathing to us, that it was paramount to feeling complete. Or at least I felt like that is where I was at my best. So with the husband now an ex, and my daughter off to live her own life, there is no one in my life. So I guess that is why not having friends has hit me hard...like having someone throw bricks at you. Anyone else with Neptune in the eleventh? I would be interested in how it has played out for you. What is the asteroid number for "Happiness"? I used to know it and it used to be on the Harvard asteroid list, but I don't see it there now. If someone has the number, can you please post it? Thanks.Geocosmic Valentine ------------------ "Everybody is a star!" Sly & The Family Stone IP: Logged | |
