jwhop ~ honestly, politics aside, the interview with Katie Couric was terrible. Even if you give Sarah Palin an allowance for nerves and some compassion for being so criticized under such a bright light, her responses were not very comforting...especially given the fact that if McCain were elected and died before the end of his term, this woman would be running the US. And I don't even live in the US! I would take a look at the interview if you haven't. Even for a Canadian, the thought of her as VP makes me nervous. On another note, considering this was about the SNL skit, I have to say I love Tina Fey. She's filarious. IP: Logged |

From what I can gather (I haven't bothered to check the links provided in the first post) has NO astrological content at all. I'm not happy about this. A bit of p*ssfarting is ok every now and then but this post and others turn into constant mudslinging on NON-ASTROLOGICAL issues. PS I'd add more emoticons but I'm restricted max 8 IP: Logged |

As a matter of fact I didn't know Tina Fey is a Taurus until I've watched the video and looked it up, which made me like Tauruses more... besides the fact that it's already one of my favorite signs.IP: Logged |

I agree 23 but there have been several political threads permitted here in the past. The point now is - if you are going to allow political threads here - you must allow posters to submit their opinions without censorship or abuse. It's tough also when some of the mods have divulged their political views on several subjects, and this weighs the forum heavily in one direction.IP: Logged |

I've got no problems with expression of politics, its just that it's turned a bit rampant in a non-astrological way with the last few threads and it shouldn't be here. There are other forums on this site where it can be published. This is an astrological forum. I come here for the astrology not for the latest political news/jokes/opinions. Now I think I better go because everyone will start accusing me of being a despot and interfering with moderator's roles.

dragoon ~23 is right: it probably would have been better to post this thread in Lindaland Central or Global Unity, unless you could redeem those clips by asking astrological questions or putting forth astrological opinions bvanzy ~ quote: It's tough also when some of the mods have divulged their political views on several subjects, and this weighs the forum heavily in one direction.
As far as I know, there's nothing in Randall's Moderator Responsibilities saying "Do not divulge your opinion nor political views upon pain of death or dismemberment!" And why should our opinions "weigh" the forum more heavily than anyone else's?? As for the content of the clips, 'tis my opinion (lightly weighted ) that public figures are fair game for satire. Senators McCain, Obama and Biden have gotten their fair share too, yes?? So why is anyone outraged that Governor Palin is caricatured on SNL?? IP: Logged |

I'm actually interested in the astrology involved in the elections; not only in terms of the candidates, but also considering the fact that the debates are all going on during a Mercury retro period. But if the other threads are just political, sans astrology then I guess I'll skip it. IP: Logged |

Funny. Because it looks like policy, ie. it looks like what political position is considered to be acceptable around these parts. It could also mean unfairness in moderation, ie. threats of censorship against people who are non-friendly to your favoured position versus tolerance for bad behaviour from those who you agree with. It's an old story really. Love – I am also very interested in political astrology, so hopefully as we get nearer the time we can get into it. And no, the other political threads are not about astrology that I've seen. 23 – Posting political threads while expecting and demanding agreement with your position is not an honourable thing to do in a public forum, certainly not one to do with astrology anyway. I will interpret "your" that you stated above as meaning "others". I haven't expressed a political opinion in reference to what I think of the candidates on this website, just philosophised about what politics is and that we are all entitled to have interest in what is happening. Here is what I wrote on another thread: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/019145-3.html quote: Politics is a dirty game, whether you approve of the particular dirtiness of politicians depends on what side of politics you come from. All I will say is from the basic skim I have done, this thread kind of annoys me and I wonder what it is even doing on this forum, given that there is no astrological content. I certainly have a point of view on some candidates in the election but I don't wish to make them public, so don't ask. However, I will say that I do agree with Lara, insomuch as saying the whole world has a vested interested in the American elections, given that America is and so wants to place itself as a superpower.
I've made my point clear. One does not cook with a stove in a bedroom and one does not wear black to weddings. While your point is legitimate and correct, my thoughts stop much shorter than that IMHO as stated above. I can't add anymore than that.

Yes, in saying "your" I am meaning the old-fashioned: "one's" political opinions.. etc...

quote: David Letterman poked fun at Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin during Wendesday night’s episode of The Late Show With David Letterman. (Last week, he bashed presidential hopeful John McCain for skipping his show.)Last night, the 61-year-old late night talk show host rattled off the “Top Ten Things Overheard at Sarah Palin’s Debate Camp”. Of course, the audience reaction was huge. Check them out for yourself: 10 — “Let’s practice your bewildered silence” 9 — “Can you try saying ‘Yes’ instead of ‘You betcha’?” 8 –” Hey, I can see Mexico from here!” 7 — “Maybe we’ll get lucky and there won’t be any questions about Iraq, taxes, or health care” 6 — “We’re screwed!” 5 — “Can I just use that lipstick-pit bull thing again?” 4 — “We have to wrap it up for the day — McCain eats dinner at 4:30″ 3 — “Can we get Congress to bail us out of this debate?” 2 — “John Edwards wants to know if you’d like some private tutoring in his van” 1 — “Any way we can just get Tina Fey to do it?” To watch Letterman deliver this Top Ten list, visit CBS.com.

Jwhop, I really want to know, what is your Mercury sign? Your posts are always well-structured, and that emphasis in bold thing creeps in every now and then. Unmoved does that and swears she isn't Virgoan at all. But she has Libran Mercury. Or maybe this is all a red herring and just reflects your professional background. I don't know. IP: Logged |

Yeah, I don't care for it either. Speaking of Aquarians, I have seen a number of them have issues with spelling (my little sister included). IP: Logged |

Gemini Sun/Gemini Mercury tend to be bad for spelling and punctuation. My brother is an example. "His mind works too fast" says our mother. Good old Golden Bollocks. Too bloody lazy, more like, and he will be the first to admit it. There is another culprit of this ilk on the boards. IP: Logged |
