what orb do you allow for conjunctions and oppositions in Draconic synastry?
I use 3°, do you think itīs too wide?

Why so strict orbs?
Just to see the real important aspects.
If you look at tropical - tropical, draco - draco, draco - tropical and tropical - draco you will get A LOT of connections.

The tropical synastry of course is the one in the here and now. But I wouldn`t undersestimate the strength of DRaco`s. However, those aspects have to be really really close to show their effect.

There are NO firm rules on orbs in tropical synastry (or natal); it seems every astrologer has his own preferences.

Mine are pretty tight orbs; 3°, I feel comfortable with that orb, because I KNOW it works and shows a strong effect.
Over 3° I am not so sure; I sometimes accept 5° with conjunctions, but not very happy about it.

Actually I think even wider orbs MAY have influence, but I am not sure about it. Maybe they donīt.

To me it is about finding out the SPECIAL and UNIQUE connections between two people. And aspects with 2° will be pretty rare and therefore signify a closer bond than you wold have to some stranger.
EVent hough of course if the Venus is in Scorpio and the Mars of the other person, too, there still would be some similiarities.

However, I remember that IQ listed 2 rules to see if a relationship has soulmate-potential. I hope I quote it right:

Rule 1:
ASC of one person has to be a close (0° - 2°) conjunction or trine to the other person`s Sun, Moon, Venus, (Mars), Saturn, Pluto, True Node, Karma, Valentine, Amor and ASC.

Rule 2:
close (0° - 2°) conjunctions or trines between Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, Saturn, Pluto, True Node, Karma, Valentine and Amor (am not so sure about the inclusion of Mars though).

I looked at some synastry of an actor who recently had a strong emotional influence on me (I seem to be emotionally affected by actors pretty easily though)

Rule 1:
my ASC conjuncts his Mars
my ASC trines his Karma

Rule 2:
his Venus conjuncts my Moon
his Venus trines my Karma
his Mars conjuncts my NN
his Valentine trine my Sun

I guess that`s it. I like to apply these rules (with the adding of my own) to synastries, to see the "ground" of an attracton / or relationship.
AFter that I look at the other connections, too.
But as a first step this is pretty interesting.
In this particular synastry we even have a DW of Venus-Karma, as his Karma squares my Venus. Oh well...

Also interesting the placement of his Juno in my Chart. With an 2° orb his Juno is:

conjunct my DSC
conjunct my SN
trine my Pluto

Well, I see there is an ASC-Moon-DW AND an ASC-Venus-DW.
We still have to wait for IQ`s word, as he is the expert, but I think that could be a good chance of very very close soulmates.
IF your ASC is correct that is.

Interesting, that you have so many connections under rule 1 and so little under rule 2. Hmm.
I usually find the reversed case.

And Lara,
yes, Jude`s and my synastry is highly "suspicious".
With this mutual exact ASC-Neptune-conjunction and some others.

Actually it would look like this:

his ASC conjunct my ASC
his ASC conjunct my NN

(his ASC conjunct my Neptune
my ASC Conjunct his Neptune)
(his ASC trine my Pluto)

Rule 2:
his Sun conjunct my Venus (Isis and Osiris)
his Mars conjunct my Valentine
his Saturn trine my Moon
his Saturn conjunct my Karma
(his SN conjunct my Saturn)

and some other connections like
Juno conjunct Amor
Amor conjunct Psyche
ASC conjunct Lust
Cupido conjunct ASC

and some others. Pretty interesting.
But looking at the rules above, it looks pretty heavy.
And one sided. Did you see how all my loving planets are triggered? Especially by his stern Saturn?
And of course by his masculine planets?
It`s almost like I OWE him admiration (Venus) and unconditional love (Valentine). Bahhh...

Ah just look at all that nasty Saturn-Karma-stuff. On top of that his Pluto squares my Venus, while my Pluto squares his Sun.
So, it`s not really all that amazing.

And the fact that we have all that romantic aspects like Sun conjunct Venus, Venus conjunct Neptune and NN, Neptune conjunct ASC, the conjuncted trine of Venus, Neptune and Chiron, it doesn`t make it any better.

OH well, I will just go, see him on stage next year, and after that you won`t hear any more word on him from me. Promise.

Oookay, you know you can`t take me too serious now, don`t you?

*sighs* I do not want to talk about him. Heck I do not even like him all that much, but he has got something, I don`t know what it is...
