Thanks Cat,
I hope to be!

Hi Mercy,
You haven't spread any chaos

Like I said, I'm fairly easily confused in the Astrology department but thankfully Cat has some faith in me being an expert one day.

Now, that I'd love to see! I wish!

Till next time

hmm. lessee.

Water: Sun (Pisces), Moon(Cancer), Asc (Cancer), Neptune (Scorpio)

Fire: Venus(Aries), Saturn(Aries), Mars (Sag.), Chiron (Aries)

Air: Jupier (Libra), Uranus (Libra), Mercury (Aquarius)

Earth: Pluto (Virgo)

Even people with the most basic understanding of Astrology peg me for a water sign right away. (I wonder why?)

It's funny, the men I'm attracted to are almost always Earth (and almost always Taurus). I've known the makeup of my chart for forever, but I never made that connection why until just now -- I have almost no Earth in my chart.

My best friend is a Cappy and she just does not understand me at all. She's VERY organized and takes care of her day to day business like clock work, has schedules and budgets and sticks to them. I do things when I think about it - like paying bills. It has nothing really to do with not having the money - I just forget. When I get home and there's no dial tone it reminds me it's time to pay the phone bill (it's funny, but not too much of an exaggeration -- it's happened more than once ). We have a very hard time communicating at times. I find her very judgemental and she has a very cutting way of putting things (she's got a Sag moon and she's very much "my way is the only way and everyone else is stupid" attitude). We always say that she thinks inside the box and I don't realize there is a box . But, she's into astrology, too. So we've come to an unspoken understanding - when she says something hurtful, I take a step back and try to understand that that's not how she really means it and when I say something flaky and off the wall she tries to understand me as well. Even though I don't understand how she lives such a regimented life and she doesn't understand how I just flow along and not really feel too much urgency for the day-to-day necessities, we do realize how well we compliment each other. She brings me back down to earth and tries to help me get myself organized and I bring to her a sense of whimsy and spontaneousness (is that a word?) that she wouldn't have otherwise. (A few weeks ago we were bored and I suggested we go to Mystic and she went - I was proud of her, a year ago she would not have taken a spur of the moment trip like that (she just admitted to me that when she went upstairs to "freshen up and go potty" that she really went and printed off a map and some tourist info as a security blanket ) but it was still a great big step for her. --

I'm not sure why I'm boring you all with this story -- I'll hush up now

I can't wait until we talk about houses. Half my houses are empty -- that can't be good And half of everyone is squished up in my 10th house like they're having a little frat party.

Sham, on the contrary. Empty houses mean that you are not here to focus on those things in this life. Everything in the 10th? You came to focus on career.

i am a taurus and i feel the earth element very interestingly. When i was younger, esp. my teenage years, and even now, i had a compulsion to be original, expressive, moving, social and just plain weird (perhaps this comes from uranus in my 1st houst, certainly not from my scorp asc or virgo moon) by taurus pulls me down, demands that i not be too flashy and that i move slow, especially socially- i can feel gravity's heavy pull forcing me down towards the earth. sometimes i fancy if i were an aquarius my last time around, and now am taurus as a way to put some patience and stability into those lessons.

What element is your Sun Sign? How do you feel this element expresses it’s self in your daily life?

In terms of compatibility, signs are considered compatible if they belong to the same element. Do you agree or disagree? Have you seen this in your own life?

i'm an aries and i find that it comes in bursts in the things i do everyday, i find that when i work (my volunteer work), i take it very seriously and try to see that every thing runs smoothly.

i have had problems with every scorpio ive ever met, the first fatal attraction then bam!friendship fizzes away, the signs that are always around me and i tend to get on the bset with are: water signs and fire

I am air element mostly. Sun - Libra, Asc - Libra, Moon - Gemini. I am totally stuck in the intellect.
I have lot's of planets in earth sign. I make good friends with Earth Signs and Water signs. I dont get along with Aries, Leo, Saggi and Libra.

Hi all -- just wanted to let everyone know that I talked to Terri, who is still working to rebuild lesson one from scratch since her computer crashed. I mentioned this on my Part 2 class forum, but I thought I'd repeat it here.

Since it might be a while before Terri gets all of Lesson 1 rebuilt, I am adding a little bit of material to Part 2 ... specifically the basic meanings of the signs and planets considered by themselves. That will put everyone into shape to move directly into Part 3, which will introduce each planet in each sign and house!

Then when Terri's lesson one gets finished it will go up here and the course can get back to its original design!

Anyway, I'll have that extra material added to my lessons later today or in the morning at the latest.

Love,
Greg

Well heres the breakdown
Earth : Mercury, Sun, Mars in Cappy, Moon in Virgo, Chiron in Taurus,
Air : Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto, and MC in Libra,
Fire : Venus and Neptune in Sag, 'True' North node in Leo.
Water : Uranus in Scorpio.

Re :In terms of compatibility, signs are considered compatible if they belong to the same element. Do you agree or disagree? Have you seen this in your own life?

I've found I tend to be most compatible with people who have squares, or oppositions with my major placements. I think my Mars Pluto gives me a need for challenges, and I know my jupiter Saturn placement in the ninth gives me the urge to expand.

My best friend was water, air, water, Cancer sun, Libra Rising, and Scorpio moon. My current boyfriend whom I've known two years, is Libra sun, Cancer Rising, and Virgo moon.

The only person at work I don't get along with very well is Taurus sun, scorpio moon, and Aries rising (her planets are divided entirely between taurus and scorpio, with more in taurus).

I find that people with water and air fill spaces in my chart and lend me a bit more empathy.

I don't think my lack of water makes me less sensitive, neptune is cnj my ascendant and mercury from the twelfth and I am very good at picking up peoples attitudes and moods from their behavior. I constantly surprise Mark with my ability to tell him what people are like after brief experiences with them.

I definitly feel torn between my earth and fire natures. I tend to react 'instinctively' to most situations, and then question them relentlessly for hte next two three weeks. Depending on how the situation goes I either think I should have taken more iniative, or been more conservative; the classic earth fire dichtomy.

I hope I'm making sense.

I'm right here!

Okay time to add my two cents I suppose. FIRE. Aries Sun, Aries Moon, and Leo asc w/ 1st house Mars CON the ASC. If you want you can call me a triple Aries.

Now, here's the deal, I do NOT have the enthusiasm that fire signs normally have, I am actually quite pessemistic. Although I believe I have found valid reasons for this in my natal chart which I won't get into here. Also, I am not very physically active.

Now, even though that may sound strange, it is not to say I am nothing like fire element. When it comes anger... well, it's accurate. When it comes to love, yes, my passions do go WAY out of control all the time, and I usually end up scaring away the one I like because I pursue them with TOO much passion. Indeed my need for love is great, and even though I have been single for years now, all this fire still allows me to put a smile on my face in the end.

1. What element is your Sun Sign?

Fire

2. How do you feel this element expresses it’s self in your daily life?

Vibrant energy, enthusiasm, optimism, lots of laughter, self-healing warmth and generousity

3. In terms of compatibility, signs are considered compatible if they belong to the same element. Do you agree or disagree?

I disagree. "Compatible" is subjective and open to interpretation by the individual. Same elemental influences are not enough of a basis to suggest mutual cohesion.

4. Have you seen this in your own life?

Yes

Finally got in! This post sounds great so far. I'm Aries/f-Sag rising and pisces in Merc, Venus and Mars. I sometimes think my zodiac print was labeled,'Tough times-got awhile to figure it out'. Oh well, anyway 1 divorce-from a virgo currently 12 years and hanging by a thread with a double Libra/m(am I right meaning libra sun and libra rising?.
I am emotional to the extreme. Especially when I get excited about somethingI scare myself sometimes! When I'm excited or something lights my passion...take off like a rocket. But soon as the thrill is gone ..bored out of my wits! Best buddies are Leos. Give me a headache sometimes with the ego but we meld like butter in thought. I have Leo moon too. Well, I've saturated this post enough being late and all. Thanks for the great start Terri!

Hello!

I'm Pisces sun and Scorpio rising but can't say I get along with other water signs.I know a lot of Cancers and we just don't click.Scorpios are scarce ,though I was always curious about the men not one ever approached me.My parents are Virgos,my two daughters are Virgos and my son a Taurus. My husband is an Aquarius ...goes with my Aquarius moon sitting on top of his sun.And I've always gotten along well with Capricorns.I've just noticed I don't have any fire or many air signs in my Life.I'm like a fish out of water though.People keep thinking I'm adopted or come from a different planet.

Water:Sun in Pisces 15,Scorpio rising 29,Neptune in Scorpio 6.
Air:Moon in Aquarius 16,Mars in Gemini 11
Fire:Jupiter in Sagittarius 2,Uranus in Leo 13,Venus in Aries 11,Mercury in Aries 1
Earth:Pluto in Virgo 2,Saturn in Capricorn 4

Personally I think that being spread out all over the place is confusing.People who are more concentrated in one area of the chart have an easier time of figuring out what they should do,they already know.I'm just figuring out who I am and my kids whose charts are more focused don't understand my hesitation, they are much more assured but then they are all earth signs.

Hope I didn't run on too long.

The Elements: Fire, Earth, Air & Water by Rose Glavas

First Published at www.suite101.com

One method of getting a broad feel for an individual's psychological make up is to look at the composition of the chart in relation to the elements. Basically each zodiac sign has a element assigned to it as follows: Aries - Fire; Taurus - Earth; Gemini - Air; Cancer - Water; Leo - Fire; Virgo - Earth; Libra - Air; Scorpio - Water; Sagittarius - Fire; Capricorn - Earth; Aquarius - Air; and Pisces - Water.

There are various methods used to work out the strength of the elements in a natal chart. From my experience where there is a strong emphasis on one element, there is another one that is not represented very strongly. This can indicate that either the person has difficulty in expressing the attributes associated with that element or becomes very proficient at them over time due to overcompensation. In other words, the individual may feel that they have difficulty in expressing certain traits and work hard at developing them. Because they could be sensitive of this difficulty, they may develop the qualities associated with the particular element more than the average person.

Anyway, let's have a look at some key words for the elements, what they can mean, and how they can be utilised.

Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) = vital

People with an emphasis on the fire element tend to be outgoing, inspirational and 'fiery'. When expressed well these people often are an inspiration to others, are quite moral and can be very creative. If the person has difficulty expressing or experiencing the more enjoyable aspects of the fire element they may become selfish, risk-takers and/or inclined to give in to their passions too easily. A lack of representation of this element can indicate a lack of initiative, inspiration and difficulty in becoming inspired.

Key Words

 enthusiastic * optimistic * confident * naïve * self-centred * open * egotistical * idealist * confronting * loyal * tactless * overbearing * intuitive * has to feel free * high spirited * impatient * physically active * ingenious * honest * trusting * impersonal * independent * warm * exaggerate * insensitive * extroverted * inspirational * has to feel important *

Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) = physical

An emphasis on this element indicate a practical, cautious, and pragmatic approach to life. In the majority of cases there is the need to build solid, 'real' material success, ie, car, home, career success. Earthy people may benefit from connecting to the earth element via gardening, pottery, facial mud packs, etc. Long range planning and the determination to succeed are strong traits for this element, as is melancholy, greed and fear if taken too far. A person with a lack of earth may find it difficult to live in the 'real' world and to keep themselves grounded. Their expectations in general may be a little unrealistic.

Key Words

 cautious * conservative * materialistic * safe/secure * skeptics * suspicious * sensual * solid * purposeful * feel control over physical/material * grounded * practical * organised * dependable * controlled * realistic * introvert * appreciation of food, touch, etc. * efficient * strong survival instinct *

Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) = mental

Airy people are usually natural communicators. On a positive note they are great and conceptual tasks and often tend to 'have their head in the clouds'! I usually find that people with this element emphasised are extroverted and enjoy being exposed to different ideas, knowledge is quite important to them. On the down side though, they may be so busy living in their head that they lose touch with reality. The lack of air in a birth chart can indicate difficulty in the expression of that person. Communication of ideas and the ability to conceptualise may prove difficult.

Key Words

 intellectual * rational * curious * idealistic * unemotional * animated * uninvolved * conceptual * devoid of feeling * very sensitive * needs to communicate * social * objective * impersonal * distant * opinionated * air has least obvious bad qualities * theoretical * abstract * needs to socialise * needs to share ideas *

Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) emotional

When the water element is emphasised in a person's natal chart they are usually quite emotional - even if they don't show it (still waters run deep). Confinement is not something these people deal well with, they are usually quite resourceful. On a positive level watery people are caring, emotional and artistic, but can also tend to exaggerate feelings out of proportion and live in a fantasy world. When a person's chart lacks water, there is the tendency for them to find it difficult to understand the feeling side of life and to show compassion to those around them.

Key Words

 feeling * impressionable * moody * private * soulful * compassionate * subconscious * irrational * introverted * soothing * fragile, but strong/powerful * sensitive * cautious * vulnerable to hurt * intimate * defensive * psychic * past * suffering * suspicious initially * self-contained * picks up impressions * associated with healing *

Cat,

I have 4 planets in air signs, plus my Asc. and MC; 3 planets in fire signs; 2 in earth; and 1 in water. People are always telling me I'm unemotional (other airy people tell me I'm too sensitive lol).
