What are your 20 reasons for not getting angry?

1
It puts you in an unresourceful state.
2
It blocks your thinking.
3
It doesn't make you reason. Instead, it makes you unreason.
4
It gives your opponent power over you.
5
It makes you look like a fool.
6
Because ORANGE contains NO RAGE and NO AGE.
7
It makes you feel good.
8
It shows you have command over yours-elf.
9
It improves your intelligence (Scientific reports say those with very high IQ usually get angry very rarely, though high IQ isn't the reason for less anger, it is the other way round).
10
It improves sexual potency (again according to scientific evidence).
11
It makes you stronger and stronger.
12
God never gets angry. You can try and imitate Him (Her). No better role models.
13
You become the cool guy.
14
After all, it is a matter of Time and Time is an illusion.
15
Those who never get angry, never die.
16
Those who never die, won't get angry no matter how hard you try.
17
It is better to be less angry than more angry (logic).
18
Anger is a long term withdrawal (sometimes infinite withdrawal).
19
You needn't forgive anybody. Simply forgive yours-elf.
20
God would never forgive you, because he isn't angry on you (Original Sin is a mis-nomer).

Anger gives you wrinkles.

That's why I still look 25.

Come take my hand ..You should know me ..I've always been in your mind ..You know that I'll be kind ..I'll be guiding you ..You have to believe we are magic ..Nothin' can stand in our way ..You have to believe we are magic ..Don't let your aim ever stray ..And if all your hopes survive ..Your destiny will arrive ..I'll bring all your dreams alive ..For you

Hello raj. My name is Freedom and I am pretty new to the board. I thought your post looked interesting so read it, and would like to address some of your speculations about why one should't get anrgy. Good topic, by the way.

1. Puts you in an unresourceful state.

How do you figure? I don't think the Japanese thought of the United States as "unresourceful" when it dropped it's two atomic bombs on two of their cities. I think that is the ultimate resource, of someone who got ticked off/angry.

2. It blocks your thinking.

You might have something there. That is why I try very hard not to get angry. Nothing can be resolved, until anger subsides.

3. It doesn't make you reason. Instead it makes you unreason.

Sort of reiterating number two.

4. It gives your opponent power over you.

Not necessarily so. The opponent could be just as angry as I am. Where does he get his power then?

5. It makes you look like a fool.

That is why everyone thought Jesus looked so foolish when in his anger he knocked over the gambling tables of those who were gambling in his father's house.

6. Because Orange contains no rage and no age

raj. How did Orange get into this? Me thinks you are putting us on.

7. It makes you feel good.

When someone has reached the evolutionary spiritual stage where they no longer get angry, they are ready to move on to the next plane moving toward something akin to sainthood. That excludes those with of any type of mental illness, that blocks or doesn't allow rational or normal thinking. It would also exclude those who have had labotomies and are always in a "happy" state.

8. It shows you have command over yourself.

Yes. Better to count to 10 then explode in anger that blocks rational thinking...

9. I'm not goint to retype number nine. I'm just going to respond to it.

Are you saying that by not getting angry, one gets very smart?

raj. I'm not going to waste my time by going through all these reasons. Some I could question you about, but time, that elusive thing which does not exist, is calling me to get to other things.

It was nice meeting you.

Peace and love,
Freedom

not getting angry, can also be unhealthy. finding different/healthy outlets for anger is key.

I think what you mean is not keeping anger in. Not getting angry can never be unhealthy, but suppressing anger is a different matter. When a little child calls you a donkey or some other silly name you don't get angry at all as you know a little child is bound to say something silly from time to time and you don't take it as an insult. Thus there is no cause for anger. In the same way through meditation and yoga one can reach a state where one doesn't get angry. This is quite different from suppressing anger. This is something we should aim for- to be free from getting angry.

A little well-placed anger can be therapeutic.

Ah...a thinker-thread.

I'm inspired to respond...

quote:
7
It makes you feel good.

Why is this a reason to not get angry? If being angry makes me feel good, then I let it happen. Usually, it's the response to the feeling of anger that gets a person into perilously muddy waters.

quote:
15
Those who never get angry, never die.

I've got to disagree with this one here. Verily, verily,
I say unto you,
Those who never get angry have never lived.

quote:
19
You needn't forgive anybody. Simply forgive yours-elf.

I think sometimes it is imperative for one to forgive another. It is simply a contradiction of the loftiest ideas of Love to believe that one can simply live life without ever having to forgive another person while keeping in mind that all one has to do is forgive one's self.

"You needn't forgive anybody." That sentence rings so true. Forgiveness is never a necessity, is it? At least not in order for our lungs to keep breathing. And yet, there exists something that lies deeply within the thread of life. Something that, in order to observe, necessitates the experience of human forgiveness. The blessing of humanity is not that we live; it is the opportunities that unravel (either through nature or by our own doing) whilst being alive.
Forgiving one's self is essential to human growth. But simply forgiving one's self cannot ever replace the power and the life of life that is involved in forgiving, and being forgiven by, another person.

We are knowflakes, not I-cicles.
