If you (or someone) gave someone 'good advice' 'for his own good', and changed him, please share the experience.IP: Logged |

THINK before one SPEAKS... or better yet, you can THINK it, but not always prudent to SAY it.IP: Logged |

My mom taught me if someone is rude not to sink down to there level. Another piece of good advice I give to people is to be happy for other people when good things happen. I am always surprised at how many people make snide or rude or jealous comments to their so-called friends when something good happens to others.

In such a case, the recipient often attacks thre messenger, I have found. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

I hate giving advice, to be honest. It assumes the advisor knows better than the listener - it could be actually false. Often if my listener attacks me, I know probably I know less or he or she is simply so defensive - that he or she doesn't listen at all. That is why it is important to understand first, then to be understood.IP: Logged |
