Way to go Mercury Here's a copy of the latest news here. Retro Mercy is really doing it's job NEW SNOWFALL CAUSES TRANSPORT CHAOS Winter White Out A BAND of snow has hit London and eastern parts of the UK and is heading west, causing snow showers across the country. Residents in London, the North East, East Anglia and the South East woke up to a covering of snow - which was particularly heavy around Basildon in Essex. Forecasters say temperatures will struggle to rise above freezing in England and Wales today, but the extreme cold temperatures should ease over the next couple of days. Temperatures will drop to minus 1C rather than the harsh minus 8C to minus 15C seen in recent days. Traffic heading to the South West has been paralysed by an accident in Wiltshire, caused by the icy conditions. An accident caused by weather conditions on the M27 in Hampshire between junctions five and eight also caused major delays. In Scotland, traffic on the A90 in Aberdeenshire was forced to slow to a crawl due to the ice. "People are taking it a bit more easy on the motorways - at the moment people seem to taking a safely, safely approach which seems to be working," a PA WeatherCentre spokesman said. On mainline railways, a combination of the severe weather and signalling problems has led to delays for many travellers. Snow caused the line between Hexham and Newcastle in the North East to be closed, leading to cancellations and delays on Arriva Trains Northern services. IP: Logged |

Hi Cat! Winter is setting in here, in Northern Michigan too...I drove home tonight (on about 10 miles of country roads), on very icy roads...and like you said...the snow made the woods look like a winter wonderland.... Can be pretty...but treacherous...sometimes... ..................... IP: Logged |

Hi Rainbow It's really excellent to see you here I do hope your health is much improved and that your Mum's doing well. I love that cottage - can just imagine snuggling up in front of a roaring fire inside it The snow's all gone now - that was a really unusual for central London to see snow. I know what you mean about Charles Dickens Hopefully one day soon you'll come over for a visit. Sue

Amber I miss LA...I suppose the grass is always greener you know? I have lived in Florida now since I was 15, and everyone I know has such a negative image is Calif and all I remember is people on the same wave length as me, all sorts of different people, people were open, the beach, the life everything was , over there I remember people smiling, people searching for a higher ground, then I came here to Florida and was a little turned off by the people here..I have friends but they are hard to make..funny alot that I make lately are in Calif...I mean don't get me wrong Florida is a great place..but I'll never denounce Calif the way some people do..but I do wish it wasn't so expensive I suppose I grew up mainly there and loved it.. ------------------ Food is the only art that nourishes! I don't know about the rest of California.. but Los Angeles seems to be full of a lot of fake people to me. You know what I mean... the fake body parts, perfect hair, perfect bodies, perfect tans, etc. NYC had its share of that but NYC was more in your face and honest even with the icky stuff than Los Angeles. It's like... someone in Los Angeles will smile at you with disdain and then turn around and mumble "I hate that girl" In NYC... someone will just say "F*ck off!" to your face. LOL! But I do LOVE Santa Monica here. The beaches and the vibe of Venice Beach. And really I do enjoy that I don't need a big coat anymore. But I do miss being cold and hopping into bed with 2 big blankets and being cozy there in the warm bed. I miss seeing my breath on the air or walking briskly when it was cold outside. IP: Logged |

Hey sounds alot like Boca Raton! I mean there are cool people you just have to look. I know I know here there is a huge emphasis placed on materialistic things and boob jobs many people are fake, from their personality to their skin..------------------ Food is the only art that nourishes! Odd how a few sunny summer dazes can make one forget the blizzards, wind and ice. I`ve got my Imbolc seeds planted and am thinking spring Wheres Cat> Wonder if she found the fireplace of her dreams. juniperb ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |
