This website was a great read. The story is beautifully written, informative, and makes a great introduction after reading Linda's take on Isis and Osiris in Star Signs. Please share any insight, if you have any. The reason I am looking up Isis is because of a little jar of magick bath salts in honor of Isis purchased a week ago. (It is wonderful, by the way. The oils and herbs infused in the sea salts smells of pure love). http://www.angelfire.com/realm/shades/egypt/storyofisisandosiris.htm IP: Logged |

An interesting link Aphrodite. Thank you. As usual I have no insight but I do have a few thoughts and questions that sprang to mind ~"the evil Queen of Ethiopia". I've never heard of her playing a part in this story. I wonder who she was. I've never come across the part where Isis blesses the children. Charming. Also, I've never heard that Horus' eyes had that power. Gives new meaning to The Eye of Horus. The image of Osiris' coffin floating down the Nile was sad and lovely. Reminiscent of Arthur. Do you think Anubis (scared the bejesus out of me when I was a kid ) was really the son of Set and Nephthys? Was he part jackal or did he just temporarily take the form of a jackal? I've read elsewhere that Nephthys actually mated with a jackal. So was Anubis the product of that? This also makes me think of the "monstrosities" - half man/half animal beings. Edgar Cayce spoke of them often and the ancient races seem to have been a bit obsessed with the idea. Connection? I feel certain there must be some truth to it. And I've always felt that Nephthys was somehow worse than Set. In a quiet, devious Scorpio sort of way. Exactly which sort of fish were these "impious fish"? The spirit of Osiris visiting Horus always gives me pause. I assume this is where Shakespeare got the idea for Hamlet. Anyways, was it really Osiris? Or Set in disguise tempting and troubling poor grieving Horus? Or did Osiris really take advantage of his son and call for vengence? Maybe this is part of the reason the reincarnated souls of Osisris and Isis are so often childless? Maybe Will left us a hint. I'll have to reread. In the meantime, I'm going to put my money on the latter. On a lighter note, the product junkie in me needs to know where you purchased those bath salts. IP: Logged |

Hi Tink I am a bit surprised that I came across a lot of the very same questions you did while reading the story. Osiris visiting Horus in seeking vengeance against Set struck me as a bit odd. How about the 5 extra days of light with no designated year? Interesting. I am wondering about Isis' power in magick, and her usage of voice and words. Without a doubt, she is a powerful goddess who has my respect. Oh, about the jar of salts I bought them from a little hide-away shop called The Sword and Rose by a Scorpio man named, Randy. He works with magick, qabalah, and all things I have yet to probe from him Love, A.

Yes, the 5 extra days of light. This sounds familiar but I can't place it. Something in the Bhagavad Gita maybe? There is a mysterious truth in there somewhere. Clues leading to clues leading to clues. Such fun!I don't suppose there is anything more powerful than the spoken/chanted word. And God said let there be Light. And there was Light. Who's better than Isis? Nobody. Yes, it is sad Starlover. But beautiful too. And I think it has a Happy Ending. tink IP: Logged |

The Ancients have better love stories sometimes though, you have to admit that . . . IP: Logged |

Hey Aphrodite How strange you brought this link up, it was the exact same one I read after a beautiful, silver Isis and Osiris necklace found me the other week. I'm facinated by the story and used to love tales of Ancient Egypt when I was a kiddo! The way I came to know their story was through Jean Houstons book The Passion of Isis and Osiris. She also includes several meditation excercises to live a life of love and reverence. One of my favourite books to date! IP: Logged |

I have never known in my entire life a couple having this once in a lifetime conjuction.I have read about several famous couples sharing an aspect between these two, mentioned in the thread ISIS and OSIRIS, but nothing else besides this. Even my parents who had been together for almost 40 years and they would still be if my father didn't have cancer, I'm absolutely sure that they didn't have this aspect. I believe it is something that just shows. Crystal clear. Like the powerful flares of the Sun, like the blue boundless sky. I would be really honored to meet such a couple. IP: Logged |
