Mine is a hard copy, Bhagavad-Gita 'As It Is' by A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupàda.Last year, I had taken a seminar that introduced components of the Bhagavad-Gita-- There was the back-story of the Gita, overarching themes, and the three hierarchical levels of reality in the Gita Presenter spoke of Transcendental Knowledge the Bhagavad-Gita addresses: individual consciousness, infinite consciousness, the material world, the natural law of action and reaction, and time; four systems of yoga -- universal principles of religion, and yoga as the technology of religious experience. I have a life-long deeply-studied and practiced Christian background. I love to explore other philosophies. Very much had enjoyed experiencing the mystical parallels, to and with this study of the 'Gita. Was also a fan of Yogananda. - http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Yogananda,_Paramahansa In college I thoroughly read and absorbed the book An Autobiography of A Yogi. Made a potent impression on my spiritual life. A handful of years afterwards, I had applied and was in the process of entering a contemplative monastic life (RC belief system). Yogananda's chant-songs were always a part of my soul and spiritual experience. There IS Something-Higher that we belong to and that Calls us. My Soul and Spirit Celebrates the unity of Seekers. This WHOLE life, for me, has been a journey weaving in and out of different kinds of spiritualities. For 64 years, have lived life travelling through corridors of other-worldly experiences and studies. Like the Flammarion, occasionally I poke my head in, and draw-out the experience of 'that' part and piece of life for a while; then, the journey moves further-down along the inter-between. The part of my journey through the veil, where I visited (and incorporated) parts of the philosophies of the eastern, had added value to my life, my soul. Kriyananda wrote some truly gorgeous pieces. He was a disciple of Yogananda. Learned some of their very inspirational musical chants in my early mid 20s. Used to sing them (so Fully-Devoted in my Soul with a Love for God) on those very-long walks to Mass; and during the postulant period inside an R.C.monastery in mid20s. (music) O Life Is Sweet (Yogananda Chant, perf by Marisa) [2:53] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiKwEDY4JT4 yrics O life is sweet and death a dream, O life is sweet and death a dream, When Thy song flows through me, My Lord, When Thy song flows through me. Then joy is sweet, sorrow a dream, Then joy is sweet, sorrow a dream, When Thy song flows through me, My Lord, When Thy song flows through me. Then health is sweet, sickness a dream, Then health is sweet, sickness a dream, When Thy song flows through me, My Lord, When Thy song flows through me. Then praise is sweet, and blame a dream, Then praise is sweet, and blame a dream, When Thy song flows through me, My Lord, When Thy song flows through me. These transits recently have provided a Life Review for me. SURELY!, I've had a very rich life full of varied and intense experiences. Bless God! I was thinking about this thread today.(music) When Thy Song Flows Through Me (Phil Jones sings Yogananda) [5:34] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLBh5OxEqQY The colorful art illustrations inserted into the version of B'Gita I mentioned above, have remained planted strong in my memory... after decades. They still teach.

I like Bhagavad gita Shankara Bhashya. The comments of Adi Shankaracharya are the most profound for me. IP: Logged |
