Well, I probably have 200-300 books I certainly am in no hurry to get rid of, but if we're talking about those that are too meaningful to me to yet part with, I'd have to second someone who voted forAutobiography of a Yogi, by Paramahansa Yogananda. Haven't read it in years, but it was very important to me. Someone mentioned childhood books, and I'd have to say James and the Giant Peach, by Roald Dahl! Astrology-wise, I've continued to get insight over the years from Jan Spiller's Astrology for the Soul, which focuses on past-life lessons to be gleaned from studying the moon's nodes. IP: Logged |

For more than a decade I read the blue books written by Jozef Rulof. A few titles: A View into the Hereafter, The Cycle of the Soul, The Origin of the universe. For me this is what I always wanted to know. http://www.rulof.org/

Why are they called the blue books?------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

Very good question. I thought it refers to sky blue (cover). This kind of blue has been chosen cause of it's positiveness.

Edgar Cayce's books. Carlos Castaneda's books. Michael Newton's books. These are the one i can read several times, except for Castaneda - i haven't read them all yet, but somehow i know that when i am ready, they'll be with me. I read a bit, and it resonates with me very much. From literature - i don't know! I like reading different genres, but i never value them much. Only the ones that help me in some ways. That's why i love abovementioned ones. IP: Logged |

I love this thread, so many good suggestions on new books to read. Some of my favorites from childhood: The little house on the praire series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the babysitter's club series by Ann M. Martin, Sweet Valley High by Francince Pascual, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, James & the Giant Peach. Oh and I love loved the scary Fear Street books by R.L. Stine, and the suspense of CHristopher Pike's books. Christopher Pike and R. L. Stine's occult themes actually proded me further onto my spiritual path. Adult books: A tale of two cities (Dickens), Anna Karennia, Wuthering Heights, Les Misreables, Pride & Prejudice, The Alchemist, The house of the spirits (Isabel Allende), the boy in the striped pajamas, night, Carlos castaneda's books on don Juan. I know there are more I'm not thinking of, but these are the ones that have stayed with me most. I especially love A tale of two cities. IP: Logged |

Fwah, sand is such a strangeling for a Phil boy. I have gotten used to borrowing by now. Books are just paper I'd keep all the books I have now but who knows? How do you book keepers keep out silverfish and yellowed pages? thats the only concern for book keepers. IP: Logged |

From childhood: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG- Roald Dahl (so many good Dahl books...) Strandia- Susan Lynn Reynolds - (this book needs to be read by more people, so much truth... I actually ended up "stealing" this book from my Gr. 7 classroom library, naughty me I know, but it was so worth it, I think I must have read it 20+ times by now, including as an adult) Holes- Louis Sachar Island of the Blue Dolphins- Scott O'DellAdult: Fiction: Thus Spoke Zarathustra- Friedrich Neitchze The Bell Jar- Sylvia Plath Oryx and Crake- Margaret Atwood Wuthering Heights- Emily Bronte Fight Club- Chuck Palahniuk White Oleander- Janet Finch The Shining- Stephen King All Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings books (suppose Harry Potter could go under childhood) Non-Fiction: Astrology: A Cosmic Science- Isabel Hickey Secrets of Shamanism: Tapping the Spirit Power Within You- Jose and Lena Stevens The Kybalion: A Study of Hermetic Philosophy- Three Initiates Her Perspective: Gaia Speaks About Her True Story- Alloya Huckfield Back to Eden- Jethro Kloss Borrowed and returned but should own one day: Animal Farm- George Orwell The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge- Carlos Castenada Go Ask Alice- Anonymous My Ishmael- Daniel Quinn (Ishmael too but My Ishmael is far superior in my opinion.) Celestine Prophecy Series- James Redfield Whew! There wasn't supposed to be a limit was there? Too many reasons to list for each book. And still it must be stated that Gooberz may very well be the best book of all time. And so many more to read/get, where will I ever find the non-existent time? IP: Logged |
