"GEMS OF WISDOM, GEMS OF POWER
A practicle guide to how gemstones, minerals & crystals enhance your life."

By Teresa Kennedy

I'm lovin it. So who else reads books like these?
I'm a beginer...I probably was aware about stones enhancing life since I was 17. I got diamond earings around that time. And I use to say in a goofy/dorky voice "oh yes, diamonds ward of the plague!"

And this book makes me want to go jewel shopping so bad! So gives me an exuse to have nice jewelry.

Anyway another cool thing about the book is that it explains how to tell is a stone is fake. From the way it is labeled, putting nail polish remover on it, and lighting a needle and then poking the stone, ect.

Please share your knowledge, lindalanders!

Cool. My book says

"When crushed, hematite will turn water red"

No way, my book also says that they come The great Lake Superior region where I'm from(kind of! I'm in the same state but I'm in the LP closer to Detroit Rock City.
) I bet if I went in one those up North tourist type stores, they might have some.
((I have a few Great Lake agates I bought in the UP if anyone has info on that please share, my book doesn't really say anything about great lake agates, and I even tried looking online for info. Cause there are different types of agates))

Here are some other quotes from my book on hematite
"Ancient Egyptians used hematite in the creation of magical amulets to protect them against madness."
"For more modern spiritual warriors hematite retains its powers of protection. Its energy works specifically to absorb negativity and protect one against darker forces."
"Some sources say that hematite is a lawyer's stone that brings positive judgments in legal matters. While it may not make you invincible, it is a mineral that nevertheless will help you remain true to yourself, even in times of great turmoil."

I really like goldstone. It's a man made stone combined with copper and gold. It says it can work as a mood stabliser. And from my experiences wearing my goldstone earings, it so does.

My book doesn't talk about this stone, but I found info on goldstone online.

Nice, my mom ended up buying Amethyst jewelry to help out her blood pressure.

Oh yeah, there is another part in my book that says Hematite is associated with healing the blood.

Here is another fun fact about Hematite. "The Romans associated the stone with Mars, the Roman god of war, and believed that carrying the stone into battle would make them invincible. Considering the Roman military history of conquest, apparently worked pretty well too."

Me and my mom seriously need to get some Dumortierite stones. And we need to like put them allover the house! haha

Cause organization doesn't come naturally to us for some reason. (even with her mars in Virgo and my 6th house in Pluto and moon)
The stone is said to enhance organization.

Me and my mom are pack rats, my mom has it worse. My dad quit his job today (due to the crap economy and not getting payed on time ever). And my dad knows how to organize and clean. My mom told me today "I'm worried about your dad cleaning the house." wtf??? My mom is seriously a boarder line hoarder. I was trying to talk sense into her like "why is this place not being so cluttered a bad thing?"

I wonder if it's cause she had 3 bros and two sisters?...and isn't use to having so much stuff...therefore having a hard time letting go of useless junk that no one wants or uses?

And me...lack of discipline? My 6th house Pluto is retro? I feel I don't have it as bad as my mom though I can eventually get rid of some things.

Here is what the book says "It's definitely the stone to use when it's time to get organized. After all thinking you need to be better organized or wishing you where better organized is one thing; settling down to do it is what ultimate what gets the job done."

Also a good stone to improve finances. (Not like I need really need it for that...but there is always room for improvement when it come to finances cause people could always have more money, ya know)

the site I got this pic from also says
"Learning Stone

Dumortierite promotes mental discipline especially in regard to learning new things. Students find it useful when they are required to take in large amounts of data over short periods of time, because it aids memory. "

And my book says "Dumortierite is an alumninium silicate mineral, belonging to the orthorhombic crystal system. Usually denim-colored, there are rarer examples of violet and pink as well as browns.

Pretty much any stone that has location of a state, country, county on the label such as 'England Ruby'...means it's a phony.

Nothing wrong with knowing where your stone came from...but having it a part of the name/label is not legit.

I bought a Phosphosiderite necklace and earrings yesterday on my trip. The woman was great! She was able to tell me the history of how the guy started mining them. And where (I think she said Argentina) And even what the guy's personality is like. And since the stone is so rare she only sells one ounce a year. She also told me that rare doesn't always mean more expensive. My set was 50 something bucks.

My favorite shade of purple and my favorite color.

Not in my book, but is said to be a 3rd eye chakra stone, even recalling past life experiences. Also said to assist with finding balance and stability.

I've noticed my turquoise stone (which is worn against my skin around my neck) has a yellow tinge to it whenever I'm ill. Anyone else experience this?
