I usually don't read high fantasy work. I was recommended the series after many months of complaining how I rarely get to read anything exciting/moving,for every 1 good book I read,I end up with 4 bad.(I can read up to 3 books per week, depending on the quality) My friend said I would really like this, since it has everything I need + it is immensely addictive and thrilling. I was impressed The setting is fantastical (actually,it is medieval, with measured amounts of supernatural) and many say *gritty* but the story is very real, the motivations and character building and the writing philosophy of the writer.(George is a Virgo, btw with Libra Mercury, but really, his work can be summed up by his Scorpio Mars squaring Leo Venus/Pluto conj) You read,so absorbed, and you actually enjoy the every bit, because it is SO challenging. A reading rollercoaster And Arya, goddammit!!! ♥♥♥

I love GoT! I've read only the first novel so far, but I'm planning on reading at least the next two over holiday break, so please no spoilers, lol Initially, I thought the length would be daunting, since it is definitely along the lines of an epic, but I like how GRRM splits the story into individual narratives. It makes it much more manageable. I can't wait to have some free time, so I can breeze through them. The whole series definitely has a Scorpio feel to it! IP: Logged |

You need to read novella before you head onto 2nd book The Hedge Knight - same world, only 80 yrs prior to AGoT - You'll love it!So,any idea as to who is Jon's mother? IP: Logged |

Thanks for the recommendation! I did a quick Google search and it looks like I'll be reading that before moving on, lol.As to Jon Snow's mother... I honestly have no idea, but I don't think he is Eddard's real son. Maybe Lyanna? I imagine a pregnancy from her would've been very secretive and Ned would've helped in keeping it that way. A part of me just roots for Jon Snow IP: Logged |

Is this the same as the tv show?------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

Who watched the last episode? It was sooooo sad! I love Khaleesi, though. ------------------ quote: You will find the Treasure. The Map is within you.

The show, honestly, is stronger than the books in some respects.Martin's verbosity is toned down. As a warning (or not): The show is very HBO rated. They seem to use conversations during coitous to take care of necessary exposition. ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. I disagree with, Randall. Well the last episode of the season is coming up. Jeepers, don't know how it can top last week's one.. ------------------ quote: You will find the Treasure. The Map is within you.

Although I don't like Jaime for several reasons, I liked the episode where he save Brienne from being raped. I bet he didn't expect to lose his hand..but it shows he has a heart.------------------ quote: You will find the Treasure. The Map is within you.
