The Third Stage Taurean

The third-stage Taurean may be placid and serene, yet like a steaming locomotive, she is potent and unstoppable as she heads in the direction of her chosen destination. The third-stage Arian is almost invariably a specialist. He is an expert and an innovator. No one knows his subject like he does. (Except perhaps another third-stage Aries with a similar purpose - who is certain to become a lifelong friend). Aries is ruled by the planet Mars, the God of War, and in third stage the Arian goes to war for whatever goal or cause he may have chosen to serve. Always the noble warrior, he will almost certainly be ethical as possible in all his undertakings. Nor will his purpose likely entail any forms of destructive activity, unless the need to go to battle is deemed to be truly necessary. The older soul in third stage will know that there are truly no enemies, and so will use disciplined ingenuity to fulfill his purpose and triumph over any apparent opposition.

In third-stage, Aries loses much, though perhaps not all, of his inherent impatience. As long as he knows that he is doing the sort of work that fulfills him and is giving it his best effort, he is content to take the long view. The child genius becomes the wise eternal youth. Playfulness is an aspect of universal being. It is therefore also an aspect of all third-stage individuals, yet none more so than Gemini. He was the shy child waiting at the fringes of life, hoping to find that which would entrance his fellows enough to gain him admittance. Or has was the alienated child, misbehaving in his certainty that he would never receive their welcome. Now he has learned that the key is to include himself, merely to play. Being his own best friend, he need no longer fear or expect rejection and so can now be free to accept himself as the child he is, capable of enjoying the sunshine long after others have grown too old and serious to do so.

In second stage, he was often completely at the mercy of his own subconscious forces. Now he has accepted and befriended the irrational aspects of his being, and allows himself to be guided by his own personal bond with the natural rhythms of life. He is always in the right place at the right time, as he effortlessly follows the life path that is in harmony with the inner law of his being. Deep inner peace and an enduring sense of personal security characterize an individual at this stage of development. Sheltered by the infinite world, which she knows to be the home of all, this individual is gracefully detached, yet warm and compassionate. The older soul in this stage is in constant contact with the life force that surrounds her. A younger soul in third stage may be less consciously aware of her contact with the whole of life. Now in third stage, this individual can finally get on with her ultimate purpose of healing the Earth and its people in her chosen manner. She has learned never to judge for, in the process of resurrecting herself, she has come to realize that love is the only key. Judgement and all negative forms of criticism are the direct antithesis of love. Therefore to judge or condemn merely freezes all things in their tracks. She has come through the long dark tunnel in graceful and perfect form, and though she may be the living embodiment of some higher ideal, because of her past experience, she still retains her full humanity.

The traditional symbol for the third stage of Scorpio is the eagle. The eagle flies above the Earth, her wings supported by the air currents she has mastered. One symbolic meaning of air is an image is that of the Life Breath - the Spiritual matter which permeates all things. Air is invisible, yet omnipresent in our environment. The Scorpion is the symbol of the first stage of Scorpio, and represents the soul's belief that she exists in a hostile desert-like world where she may be required to use her venom in order to survive. There she believes she is alone, without any spiritual protection or assistance. By third stage she has learned to trust in the invisible, to learn to master it, so that it is able to lift her, moving her beyond the earthly limitations to which most of us seem to be subject.

The eagle is also a ruthless hunter, and when it is necessary, the third-stage Scorpio can be uncompromisingly ruthless as well. However, she is never destructive.
