movie - 'Astral City: A spiritual Journey' ?Brazilian medium Chico Xavier channeled the story of Dr. Andre Luiz who experienced an enlightening spiritual awakening after his death. He wrote it in a book called "Our home" and it was made into a film. The movie is a journey of one man named Andre Luiz from death, through purgatory, to the heaven like place and the work that waits for us there. A beautiful story of discovery, and an interesting perception of what life after death looks like with amazing imagery of world beyond. A good movie for a quiet rainy night. I have a long list of movies to recommend, I've been watching a lot of small budgets independents lately that are far more interesting and well scripted than big budgets. Most deal with time travel, consciousness and alternate realities. Most of them have won stuff at places like Sundance.1. "Convergence" I rate this 10/10 Wow talk about multiple realities, this one is a mind bender! I can't say much without plot spoilers, but the movie centers around four couples having conversation over dinner at a house of one of the couples. Starts slowly and everything looks pretty normal, but give it 15 minutes and you will begin to understand seemingly unimportant conversation that happens at the start of the movie. Mind the dialogues as every single word and detail is important to follow the events. You'll be thinking about this movie plot for days and months:-) 2. "ARQ" ....low budget gem 10/10 This movie proves you don't need a big budget to make an excellent film that makes sense. Keeps you on the edge of the seat all the way. This is a Groundhog Day sci fi lol. People stuck in a time loop, fighting thugs to save free energy for the world. 3. "Time lapse" ... 9/10 Time travel concept from an unexpected perspective. This one is almost an art piece. And it shows the consequences of meddling with time. So well done, so interesting, so worthy of watching. From movie description - "Three friends discover a photo machine that shows pictures a day into the future. After they use it for personal gain, disturbing and dangerous photos begin to develop." 4. "Parallels" .. 8/10 The movie is about slipping into different versions of reality via a building in the middle of a city. The building seems to be a portal, or is it? I got confused at the beginning of the movie, only to realise that my confusion matches the confusion of the main character as he doesn't know what's happening and tries to unravel what's going on. 5. "Synchronicity" ... 8/10 Time travel done extremely well. Usually they are gaps or inconsistencies, but this plot works very well. There are twists that you cannot see coming. This received low rating on iMdb, perhaps because its not for people who like watching big budget special effects bonanza. No extravagant special effects here, the movie doesn't need any. 6. "Primer" - 9/10 Mindbender. A SciFi with no extravagant special effects. Many twists that draw you into the story. When the movie ended I wanted to watch it again, to find what have I missed that I did not see it coming. From movie description - Four friends/fledgling entrepreneurs, knowing that there's something bigger and more innovative than the different error-checking devices they've built, wrestle over their new invention. ...to be ctnd IP: Logged |
