http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimethyltryptamine#Legal_status quote:
Legal status International Law DMT is classified as a Schedule I drug under the UN 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances, meaning that use of DMT is supposed to be restricted to scientific research and medical use and international trade in DMT is supposed to be closely monitored. Natural materials containing DMT, including ayahuasca, are explicitly not regulated under the 1971 Psychotropic Convention.[96] Canada
DMT is classified in Canada as a Schedule III drug. France
DMT, along with most of its plant sources, is classified in France as a stupéfiant (Narcotic). New Zealand
DMT is classified as a Class A drug in New Zealand. United Kingdom
DMT is classified in the United Kingdom as a Class A drug. United States
DMT is classified in the United States as a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970. In December 2004, the Supreme Court lifted a stay thereby allowing the Brazil-based União do Vegetal (UDV) church to use a decoction containing DMT in their Christmas services that year. This decoction is a "tea" made from boiled leaves and vines, known as hoasca within the UDV, and ayahuasca in different cultures. In Gonzales v. O Centro Espirita Beneficente Uniao do Vegetal, the Supreme Court heard arguments on November 1, 2005 and unanimously ruled in February 2006 that the U.S. federal government must allow the UDV to import and consume the tea for religious ceremonies under the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act. In September, 2008, the three Santo Daime churches filed suit in federal court to gain legal status to import DMT-containing ayahuasca tea. The case, Church of the Holy Light of the Queen v. Mukasey,[97] presided over by Judge Owen M. Panner, was ruled in favor of the Santo Daime church. As of March 21, 2009 a federal judge says members of the church in Ashland can import, distribute and brew ayahuasca. U.S. District Judge Owen Panner issued a permanent injunction barring the government from prohibiting or penalizing the sacramental use of "Daime tea." Panner's order said activities of The Church of the Holy Light of the Queen are legal and protected under freedom of religion. His order prohibits the federal government from interfering and prosecuting church members who follow a list of regulations set out in his order.[98]

I don't want to go to jail, so...------------------ "The stars which shone over Babylon and the stable in Bethlehem still shine as brightly over the Empire State Building and your front yard today. I don't think anyone would go to jail for using it. Well, not here anyway. Would they in the US? If so that's pretty rough. In Aus, using things like marijuana would never send anyone to jail and they would most likely be let off (unless they had several priors) and they only way that would happen is if they did it in public. They don't really care about the personal use of anything at all. In the US they would they arrest you if someone dobbed you in? I have seen that on reality TV shows. Joe, the UFC commentator and comedian openly admits to smoking DMT and marijuana. He's a bit of a cowboy! ------------------ “It’s an interesting thing. Haha, yeah, they send people to jail in the US for using Marijuana. At my university, most of the Police Reports they print in the newspaper are about people being caught with Marijuana and being sent to the city jail. I don't know how long they put people in for, but I know they clutter the jails with petty criminals (which doesn't help the economy).Anyway, Marijuana is misunderstood as a "drug." I used to despise it in high school because the pot heads did NOTHING -- and a lot of people were stupid. I don't think mind-altering substances are good for developing minds. There are numerous medical benefits, though... I would rather smoke herb than have a pill cocktail. It's a pretty safe "drug." IP: Logged |

Decriminalizing would free up the overclogged jail systems, but I don't see it happening.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

Methinks the yays have it.------------------ "All deaths are suicides, do you realize that? Every single one. The only distinction is that, with some people, suicide is a subconscious choice, and with others it's a conscious choice. Otherwise, those who commit suicide and those who succumb to accident, illness or "old age," die for exactly the same reason: belief in the inevitability of death." Linda Goodman IP: Logged |

Well I support it, and don't think it should be criminal at all -- alcohol is worse and 16 year olds can lose more brain cells that way (LEGALLY, in some places) than with Marijuana. Also I support domestic hemp growing for products other than recreational substances. IP: Logged |

Never tried it but I'm not gonna lie I have been tempted to try it.I don't think that it's 'bad'. The reason why I decide not to do it is because I know that once I start ,I will become addicted to it [I have a pisces moon=escapism].Doing my best not to touch alcohol too. IP: Logged |
