The Sox played well, way over their heads in fact. And though they were overmatched in talent on the field, on the coaching staff and in tradition, they still managed to make a series of it. Too bad the manager left Pedro Martinez in when Yankee hitters were putting flat spots all over those balls or the outcome might have been different. Well, that's what I'd tell your Sox fan---starting with congratulations! Who can resist a sincere compliment? IP: Logged |

I hadn't seen that New York Post story and it's hysterical Wonder how many calls they've had to field today from angry Yankee fans? IP: Logged |

D'oh! I forgot to get the paper yesteday. Nah, I went out with my Aries buddy-she and I always have a good time. Those Aries girls! Tons of fun! (psst..Trillian...where'd you run off to? )Hmm..I certainly hope the Scorp. is not plotting revenge. Although when I suggested getting an extra Yankee jersey for him, he did sort of snicker. And yes, I'm still standing. IP: Logged |

Well, Pettitte pitched a great game and would have had a 6-0 shutout if not for an error by Boone in the 9th inning. Anyway congratulations to you and Yankee fans everywhere. Aries women---sure, what's not to like? Amigos in Fire jwhop IP: Logged |

Yeah, and Andy Pettitte is a free agent after the season is over! I remember the flap when the Yankees GM Cashman ripped Pettitte for his son wearing a Mets cap in the dugout during a spring training game. IP: Logged |

Once upon a time I was a dovoted baseball fan. Could name every Detroit Tiger, their stats ect.. Then along came the great baseball strike & free agency. When it went from a national passtime and became all about s-elf importance and , I was in disbelief. Baseball is as greedy of a game as football, basketball et al. What a shame. How can a pitcher, for any team, make more than an earnest devoted teacher or countrys leader? Those who perpetuate the myth of the players worth and greatness, well, just saddens me. How many in the population of an average city can afford to attend a game now? An unsolicited onion juniperb IP: Logged |

Agreed, the baseball strike almost finished off Major League baseball. People were deeply ticked at the owners and the players too. It's difficult to relate how much someone makes for their services to the job they do. It's more related to rarity than worth in the society. Difficult to relate the relative worth of the janitors job to what the CEO job is worth in the market place. Both jobs need to be done but lots of people can do the one and not so many can do the other successfully. My views on most teachers and all teacher unions is pretty well known so I'll take a pass with regard to relating the salaries of athletes to teachers. Except to say that every time legislation is proposed at the state level to reward outstanding teachers with larger paychecks, it's the teachers and their unions who object the loudest. The coven of mediocrity at work. jwhop IP: Logged |

Yer right jwhop, I woke up on the wrong side of my Monday morning bed. The old the rich just keep getting richer & the poor keep getting .... The entire wealth of the whole ball team could support the hungry here. Just one of them rumbling thoughts us ol Aquas get. I know everything is as it should be & I`ll hop off my lilypad now. (still can`t root for the Yanks tho Oxy, too much rivalry flowing in my blood from the glory days ) juniperb ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |

Lord! Not another incredibly long thread - in JWhops'honor? Just something about you and your charisma, JWhop. You get people talking! These baseball games keep me up too late. I wanted the Cubs and Red Sox. Oh well. Now, I fluctuate. When the Yankees have a "God Bless America" singer in the 7th inning stretch, I remember 9/11 and all that NY has been through. I'm a Yankees fan. I admire the Marlins. They have a great team, with not nearly as much $ to work with. IP: Logged |
