Endorsing a mentally deranged racist and calling him an excellent writer is enough to make even the most leftest liberal want to vomit.

Hey being "deranged" doesn't take away from his writing skills.........

Van Gogh was deranged and was still an excellent painter....

Van Gogh was mentally ill - degranged is different.

Van Gogh suffered from depression.

To be deranged is to be insane -
de·range (d-rnj) Pronunciation Key
tr.v. de·ranged, de·rang·ing, de·rang·es
To disturb the order or arrangement of.
To upset the normal condition or functioning of.
To disturb mentally; make insane.

Van Gogh had a life of sadness - ups and downs, with so many let downs. His grief over his choices made him depressed. He didn't eat properly and suffered tooth ailments and other physiological issues. He just love his work, people - life but on a darker level. He did not seem to act out until later years and I wonder if the fact that he was suffering such physical illness-he fell victim to the paranoia and hallucinations.

There are several debates on what was wrong with Van Gogh. Theories ranged from bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, malnutrition, use of absinthe (that has wormwood) and even lead poisoning from his paint.

Van Gogh struck me more as a victim of environment and substance abuse versus being a degranged Anti-semite.

I also ADORE Van Gogh painting "White Roses".

"Various symptoms are described in Van Gogh's letters and other documents such as the asylum register at Saint-Rémy. The symptoms include: poor digestion and a bad stomach, hallucinations, nightmares, stupor, absent mindedness, impotence, insomnia, and anxiety. Van Gogh suffered from some sort of seizures or crises, and in one of these attacks cut off a part of his ear.

One of the most frequent complaints in Van Gogh's letters is the problems he endured with his stomach and digestion.[1] Van Gogh suffered from hallucinations [2] and nightmares at times.[3] He often reported that he was suffering from fever.[4]

At various times he reported bouts of insomnia. He was unable to sleep for three weeks prior to his diagnosis of gonorrhea in The Hague[5] On occasions he sunk into a kind of stupor.[6]

Van Gogh reported his impotence to Theo in the summer after he arrived in Arles.[7] and a month later when he wrote to Bernard it seemed to still be very much on his mind.[8]

Towards the end of Van Gogh's life he had thoughts of suicide.[9]"

"Van Gogh indulged to an abnormal degree in a number of behaviors, among them malnutrition/fasting, alcohol abuse, smoking, drinking coffee, and nibbling at his paints.

He was never without his pipe and smoked it even on his death bed, and he admitted on several occasions that he smoked too much.[10] He also frequently drank alcohol to excess, in particluar he often drank absinthe."

OMG!

It was a joke, Pid....

No need to go to all that trouble attempting to "educate" me on Van Gogh.....

I was aware of the man, his works, and his life, before you were even a gleam in your daddy's eye....

Rainbow,

Why do you always have to take things to an ugly nasty next step? I have already told you that I refuse to argue with you.

No, I didn't "need" to tell you about Van Gogh, but maybe other people enjoyed the read? Maybe someone else said "wow, that man seems to have had an interesting life and I'd like to follow up on those links".

Although you may not feel you need education in various areas, please don't take that right from others.

And for the record, I am ABSOLUTELY sure you knew about Van Gogh before I was a gleam in my father's eye, heck you probably knew about VG before my father was a gleam in my grandfathers eye.

What accusations have I made? I think you need to spend some time "learning" the meaning of words before you try to use them in sentences.

Pid asks....

quote:
What accusations have I made?

Okay, you accused me of "existing" before your grandfather impregnated your grandmother with your father.....

....and you don't have the facts to back that up!

LMAO... that is too funny... Holy Cow.. I am cracking up- you call that an accusation?

Whoa... I needed that joke after missing LL for a few days.

And for the record, Rainbow if you turn 61 before January 16, 2007 then you did exist before my dad

I would like to straighten one thing out for you Rainbow.

An accusation is the following;

A charge of wrongdoing that is made against a person or other party.

I provided a "probable" suggestion:

likely to occur or prove true: He foresaw a probable business loss. He is the probable writer of the article.
2. having more evidence for than against, or evidence that inclines the mind to belief but leaves some room for doubt.
3. affording ground for belief.

Mine was based on your suggestion to which I answered:

"heck you probably knew about VG before my father was a gleam in my grandfathers eye."

The keyword is "probably"

In any case, it was not an accusation as there is no wrong doing in the probability of being born before my father. Since he turns 61 on Jan 16th 2007, if you turn before him or are older than him, you then actually proved a point for me. You said I accused you of existing before my father-if you are older - then yes you did.

I joked that you PROBABLY knew about Van Gogh BEFORE my father was a gleam in my eye. I have no idea but I can make asserations based on conversations with you. Therefore you may have had that knowledge.

Any questions about the meaning of accusation?

BTW...

I do have the facts that you did exist before my father. Remember I have read the profiles on Conscious Evolution. You share the same b-day as my father- but you were 9 years old when he was born.

So, depending on your education you MAY HAVE known about Van Gogh before my daddy was a gleam in my abuelo's eye!

LMAO....

PS.. there is NOTHING wrong with being here before my dad or having knowledge of Van Gogh. That is something to be proud of.
