Gravy R. DafremenA chance to feel the breeze on my face, see the waves hit the shore. A chance to sneak with my friend into his dad's playboy collection and taste with my 12 year old eyes, the forbidden fruit of the tripanel foldout. To sit in the rain, listening to the pitapat of fat warm raindrops on the sidewalk around me. The smell of her hair and the glint in her eyes, if only for a fleeting moment, for one fleeting lifetime. The look of disappointment on my son's face, followed by profound joy having been tricked by his rascally ol' pa. The warmth of the sun on my face in the morning, of her arm around my waist at night. The feel of her skin under my hand and the cold sheets on my feet. The sounds of crickets chirping at night, a cool drink of night air. Crisp, clean, exhilarating as it melts in my mouth. These and all of the many things that I cannot show my neighbors, can't buy with my fat paycheck, can't drive to work, can't experience in the theatres in Amazing Dolby THX Sound. These are the building blocks of gratitude, the source of this inexhaustible sense of wonder that has left me dumbstruck and humbled. These are the little comforts, the irreplaceable luxuries in which necessity finds its reason for being. These are the stepping stones to look for, these are the reasons for existing. Everything else...is just gravy. Linda Goodman Fans Unite! IP: Logged |

I miss your voices. I'm not ashamed to say I miss the faces, the smileys and angels You used to send my way I miss your comments taj And yours Randall, too I miss you all so much Just had the urge to tell youThough we're strangers You all mean so much Though we don't know that much about each other It doesn't take a bunch To make a big impact To make a difference too You make a difference for me Just had the urge to tell you I'm here for you and if I don't answer and reply (which I should probably more) it's because that stunning stellium in Virgo I have tends toward critique and I don't want to hurt you with my analytics. Just so you know though, you folx are my fire that I take with me wherever I go on other sites or in real life, it is the comments that I receive here that mean the most to me, because you folks are the open hearted. You folks are Linda's children and that makes us family. Love, Daf P.S. And THAT's another blessing counted. IP: Logged |

Did you know that I print out your poems and keep them so that I can take them out and read them sometimes? I hope you don't mind. ------------------ Get some love in your groove, just get hip to forgive-Michael Franks IP: Logged |

I'm so glad to see you all decided to come out of hiding. Silverbells - I will make sure to put a copy of my first book aside dedicated to you. Randall - P.S. I'm still a little shaken up about that dream I had last night, so I'm being sort of brief. P.P.S. 100 knowpoints to the first one that successfully works the Non-Sequitor Sherbet story up a beanstalk or into a genie's bottle in the most natural way. Number of winners will be determined by taking the number of entries, adding 12, dividing by one and subtracting the square root of 144. IP: Logged |

quick note from another secret admirer Like Silverbells, I too have made a few copies of your lovely poems. My favorite is "A Smile to Sustain Me". I have printed it, folded it gently, and tucked it into my well-loved, well-worn, dog-eared copy of "Immortal Poems of the English Language". Which is, I think, right where it belongs. IP: Logged |
