I say this to the parts of me
that cling to negativity
like a burnished sign
I align over and over to your soothing presence
Yes I am
I say to those heart murmurs
Those peace burners I make
When life puts me up on a stake
I will not be crucified inside
I will not hide
Yes I am
I say to you,
When you say to me ‘You are not’
I am strong and weak
I am rough and sleek
I bend like an arrow and am just as sharp
Yes I am
When I can feel my pulse ballooning in my wrist
I will take this conquest like a bull
A victor in a victim’s shell
It’s all just shades of doing well…..
I do well with defeat (when I define it neat)
Yes I am
So when you see me cry a little
Or burst a little at the seams
(That I had just mended)
And you ask me where things got so upended…
Are you so easily suspended?
Yes I am.
But I am, also
Capable of starting at a higher level from whence I came
So if my face falls down in sheets of rain….
And you ask if I will start again…
Yes,
I am.

Damn!

You know, it has always saddened me a little by the fact that even though I write poetry, and it certainly comes from my heart, I've never been much interested in or moved by others' poetry. But yours definitely moves me; it must be some high-test sh*t by anyone's standards! Leave it to an impassioned Scorp...

I don't know how to describe it...this poem really amazes me I find it powerful, and to me it is like talking about how strong, how survival a human being can be

And sorry about not having answering your question in your reply to my poem a while back- I'm not sure whether I didn't fully understand what you were asking or I simply forgot to answer it- you were right, I had been here at LL before, and I had used a couple of pseudonyms/identities...I wouldn't feel uncomfortable to admit that, although back in those days I was really bad-mannered and confused, and I argued a lot, which I am not proud of. My then tendency made me notorious, and I regret it. I was never ready for being honest about my own personal issues, but now that's no longer, or hardly a problem.

Anyway, I just figured I'd best give you this belated answer here, so it would be more likely that you get my reply, sorry about not focusing on the main topic here...again, this poem is great, I like it. Thanks for the positive energy you've sent out I still need to learn how to be humble without being over-self-effacing or self-critical, as well as how to be self-assured without being arrogant, prejudiced, and complacent.

At first I thought you had posted something new, then saw this was from a while back. But after reading it I realized that I hadn't seen it before, so it was new to me!

Your words pack so much punch. I love it. My writing is often wishy-washy.

But thanks! You know, I haven't been writing lately. The last thing I wrote I put here..it was about rumours and strife. I'll find it and post it....but it was inspired by a situation, and no, nothing else has inspired me. Which sucks, because I have some perfume reviews due, and writing is not happening.
