I wonder. Do you agree? Should we give up trying to control our lives? Why study something like Astrology, then? Or the esoteric sciences?

Yes Ayelet, I do agree personally with the quote. As far as control, if one feels comfortable and sturdy in the world perceiving they have control- then so be it. However could be fine weather today and a tornado tomorrow, as an example- you never really know. Astrology/Esoteric studies are wonderful enhancing tools, I feel they can also coexist beautifully with God's novel, and provide a wealth of insight- turning oneself inside out so to speak, learning about yourself and others, and our unique intertwining life road maps. eta: You may find this Seneca essay interesting.. http://sites.google.com/site/thestoiclife/the_teachers/seneca/essays/12/08 IP: Logged |

Thank you, Pearlty, for a great read. I agree. Though that doesn't say that we cannot rule our destiny. It implies nothing in this world can harm our spirit, take away from us that which is worthy. It serves, perhaps, as a consolation. But I believe we can truly rule our destiny. Who was it that said: "The wise is ruling his stars, while the fool is ruled by them"? I am a fool for that matter. But it is our purpose (at least my ultimate purpose) to rise above planetary influence and achieve, at some far away day, enlightenment. Perhaps we cannot rule nature. But we may rule our own natures, and isn't that the same? And why did Linda's twin self tried so hard to stop the rain?IP: Logged |

Gooberz spoilerAt the end they both make it (stop the rain), no matter what happened in "real-life"... If Linda said: "I believe in words", may I say: "I believe in fiction"? IP: Logged |

Ayelet, I love your inquisitive mind! I think you are well on your way toward what you deem as enlightened and where you want to be and see yourself.

What is fiction here is reality in an alternate Uni-verse. Perhaps, it was enough for Linda to know that.IP: Logged |

In this moment Do not wait to be beautiful. Be your beautiful, authentic self right now. If the world offers up negativity and despair, surprise the world by giving back love and kindness. Send out the energy that you wish to experience, and you are certain to experience it. Happiness and fulfillment are alive in this moment. Allow them to flow freely and creatively through your life. Fall in love all over again with the miracle of being. Your imagination is great and magnificent, yet it cannot hold even a fraction of the possibilities. You'll do, say and act your best when you feel your best. Feel the limitless wonder of this very moment. Be beautiful, alive, aware and filled with the energy of the possible. In this moment, is every dream made and fulfilled ~Ralph S. Marston Jr. His Daily Motivator link http://greatday.com/nmot/index.html IP: Logged |

Just for Today These words are just for today. Just for this moment, this slow inhale. . . this soft exhale They are bits of green sunlight filtered through leaves Small shadows moving across the grass They are not for posterity They do not promise prosperity They do not pretend to be other than what they are: The way I get through The way I taste joy, bear sorrow, and feed hope The way I remember that each moment is holy These words are just for today ~Oriah "Mountain Dreamer" House (c) 2017 11 Jul 2017 IP: Logged |

"I wonder why I write about these things. As if I didn't know them! Why do I tell myself in writing what I already so well know? Don't I know about the mountain, and the brimming cup of blue light? It is because, I suppose, it's lonely to stay inside oneself. One has to come out and talk. And if there is no one to talk to one imagines someone, as though one were writing a letter to somebody who loves one, and who will want to know, with the sweet eagerness and solicitude of love, what one does and what the place one is in looks like. It makes one feel less lonely to think like this,—to write it down, as if to one's friend who cares. For I'm afraid of loneliness; shiveringly, terribly afraid."* "It is beautiful, beautiful to give; one of the very most beautiful things in life." * "Humility, and the most patient perseverance, seem almost as necessary in gardening as rain and sunshine, and every failure must be used as a stepping-stone to something better." ~Elizabeth von Arnim

What we do see depends mainly on what we look for. ... In the same field the farmer will notice the crop, the geologists the fossils, botanists the flowers, artists the colouring, sportmen the cover for the game. Though we may all look at the same things, it does not all follow that we should see them. ~John LubbockIP: Logged |

I love seeing this thread and look forward to reading through it. Here is a small contribution because you said, "beauty" up there and it's All Poetry, right? "It was one of those days when it's a minute away from snowing and there's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was, like, dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. And that's the day I knew there was this entire life behind things, and... this incredibly benevolent force, that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... and I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in." ~from American Beauty (but you all knew that) IP: Logged |
