Greetings...Banshee or 13anshee.... I hear what you are saying, but don't let's throw out the baby with the bath water, eh? You have every reason to be critical of what Organized religions in general and Catholicism in particular have become... but The Bible is a great metaphysical text, even in its edited form. Generally I use the King James version in my studies for it's beautiful use of the language... I suggest you try looking at the metaphysical/New Thought writings of Emmet Fox for more elaboration on this matter. The Bible, like any spiritual book, may have been Inspired by God/dess, but it came through human vehicles with all their inherent filters and foibles. Despite the various editings, I think the Truth is still to be found within its pages, and has been lovingly protected (for the most part) by a certain group of Angels. Hope that helps somewhat. Blessed Be... A ------------------ "The ALL is MIND; the Universe is Mental." *** The Kybalion IP: Logged |

Wise words, Aselzion. But I do understand where you are coming from also, 13anshee. ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." Has anyone read "The Mark of the Beast" by Ravenscroft? It goes quite a bit into Revelations and is the follow-up book to "The Spear of Destiny" on the Pilgrims Progress list in Star Signs. Also, anyone familiar with the "Lamsa" Bible? quote: This handsome new edition of the authoritative English translation of the Aramaic (Syriac) Old and New Testaments--the language of Jesus--clarifies difficult passages and offers fresh insight on the Bible's message.

The Lamsa Bible is my Holy Text of choice The root words (Aramaic) are very easily referenced for clarity. ------------------ ~ What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world is immortal"~ - George Eliot IP: Logged | |
