I found that the best way for me was to practice. My cousin and I have always been into the mysterious side of life, so she would always be a willing practice partner. We would make up games and play around with sending each other messages. It does get tiring, though, and I guess I was a little surprised at how much energy it can take to concentrate for long periods.

Also, tarot and divination are good ways to hone in on your own inner voice, and plus you can do it alone anytime you want. (keep a journal too, to check accuracy and patterns)
