My favorite Tarot deck at this time is the Aliester Crowely deck a.k.a the Thoth deck. I just feel that it is the most accurate of them all.

Multiable decks for different purposes- YES !

A deck for every need.

As far as the over 100 year old Crowley controversy-

Same reason why Ozzy Osbourne and MAryln Mansion still have peaple creeped out them selves-

controversy sells. Crowley milked it for all it was worth during his career. And since only half the peaple that have read his works or researched him have found the truth of him beyond all the "hocus pocus" and "Master 666 Beast talk"... Only those who looked into hinm with open eyes and ears have found the truth- all others only found of him what they were wanting to see-

wich is exactly how Crowley wanted things to be... I realy think he enjoyed peaple hating him- even if it made him lonely, and a little to hated by the time he was on his death bed.

My favourite deck is the one I own, being the only one I own. I don't know if it has a name or not, but I got it with the book 'The Art Of Tarot'.

The colors are bright and pretty to look at, I don't like the dark colors on some other cards.

I don't mind how accurate the symbols are, as long as they speak to me I have no problem with it.

Here's a pic:

I just got a reading at a little wiccan shop downtown with the Thoth deck. Had never seen it before. I agree, it's a beautiful deck.

I don't own a proper tarot deck yet.. I'm really attracted to the Druidcraft deck though, along with several others whose names I can't remember right now. Here are some links for the DruidCraft:
http://druidcraft-tarot.druidry.org/minorarcana.html
http://druidcraft-tarot.druidry.org/majorarcana.html
http://www.tarotpassages.com/Pages2/druidcraft-sj.htm
http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/druidcraft/

I do own three Oracle decks:
Harmony Angel Cards, by Angela McGerr
Faerie Wisdom, by Gillian Kemp
The Oracle Tarot, by Lucy Cavendish (my newest ~ I've had some good readings with it already )

I feel the least connected to the angel cards, for some reason. While the pictures are pretty/interesting, they just don't have the same warmth that the other two decks do. That said, I've had some spot-on readings with them, the few times I've used them.
Oh, and I have to say that I love Aeclectic.net! So many helpful pictures and reviews, as well as new spreads to try (the same goes for tarot passages).

Angela

*edited to add ~ I realized after I posted how rude of me it was to gush over another site, and say nothing about this one. I just figured it was clear how much I enjoy this place ~ I tend to spend more time here than anywhere else.

I use Haindl. I think it's very beautiful. Some people are a little bit scared of it because it has this strange and somewhat frightening eye on the back of all the cards. When I first lay them out it's like a 9-eyed monster looking up at the person I kind of like that. Here's a sampling:

Hope i'm not interrupting....

Hanson-Roberts tarot is my favourite. i've had the deck for about ten years and have recently started using it again after a loooong break. its the only deck i own.

And i swear that some of the cards look uncanily like people i've known - or still know.

I also have many cards for many purposes. My favorite 'standard' type deck is the Dragon Tarot by Peter Pracownik. I got this deck for 2 reasons. 1 because I love dragons, and 2 I love Pracownik's art!!

`Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'

The first deck i ever received was a Thoth, with the black and red backside, I found it hard to read, and had no book to relate with, I wound up giving it to a friend who did read cards, and someone stole it from him.

My aunt bought me a Hanson deck, and could read better with it than i could, so I gave it back to her.

Years later, a friend of mine decided to stop any kinda 'activity' by her husbands wishes, and loaded up 3 boxes of 'witchy stuff', and gave them to me.

the Waite Rider deck was amoung them.

I've used the WR for nearly 3 years now.
And even though I've traded for many other's, I could understand it better than any of the others.

So, i like it.
I've just recently received the Gilded Tarot in an exchange, and totally love it!
