What books are recommended for learning Tarot?

I am contemplating 'The Instant Tarot Reader' by Farber and Zerner. Would anyone recommend that as a good beginner book?

Greetings...

I'm sorry I can't comment on that book as I have never read it.

I like: Tarot Unveiled: The Method to Its Magic by Laura A. Clarson

Tarot Plain and Simple by Anthony Louis

The The Everything Tarot Book: Reveal Your Past, Inform Your Present, And Predict Your Future by Skye Alexander

The Tarot: A handbook for the Aprentice by Eileen Connolly

Those are a few that I liked and have on my shlf. I am sure there are many more good books out there, but these are the ones that I know and use when I want another opinion.

Hope that helps.

In the Light...

A

I have been searching for a good beginners book. How cool that minutes ago I was on Amazon and Tarot Plain & Simple is one of the highly recommended books. I put it on my wish list. I also looked up Tarot Made Easy which seems great. Now I am torn and don't know which one to get!

Reggie, you might want to consider taking a look on Amazon if you haven't already - the books have customer reviews and you can take a peek inside them.

I will let you know which one I decided to go for. Now to go about getting a proper deck...

Love,

I think the best readers learn the basics (which you can go ahead and do online or with a very basic book) and then just get a feel for each card, regardless of meaning.

Tarot books messed me up for a while and I had to make myself forget what I learned. Honestly, too much information can sometimes overwhelm you with what each and every card. There's a way to 'program' your cards so that they become personalized and give you their message. It's good to remember that the tarot is mainly a collection of both universal and personal archetypes.

Yeah, what MVM said.
I spent so much money in the beginning only to find myself more confused than before.
I found this little tiny paperback book called 'The Tarot Reader' by Nancy Shavick. It is handwritten, I dig that, seems like she is talking to you.
Then I got, 'Following Your Path - Using Myths, Symbols, and Images to Explore Your Inner Life' by Alexandra Collins Dickerman.
It goes through the whole tarot, weaving in other symbology, and guided meditation. The pics are black and white, and I color in them, doodle whatever. By the time you finish the exercises, you will have discovered what each card means to YOU, and then your on your way. If your a visual type person, this book can be invaluable.
errr...sorry to but in!
