I don't usually read reversed, but when a card falls out of happens to be turned reversed I will honor it and read it that way. Reversals aren't always a bad thing. I just look at it like the upright card's energy manifesting in a different way. I don't like to look at it like the whole "shadow side" just because its reversed. Upright cards have shadow sides as it is. IP: Logged |

Greetings...Very much in agreement with Randall and the others about cards falling out of the deck while being shuffled. Here is another tidbit that I find useful, that I haven't seen in most of the books on the Tarot: I always look at the bottom card of the deck, after it has been shuffled. Quite often the bottom card will add a bit of information to the entire spread. It may tie things together, or verify the reading in some way. Or it might be a caution to look at things in a different way. Depending on what card it is, and of course the tone of the reading. That, of course, only works if the querent shuffles the cards. It would not be applicable if you fanned the cards out on the table and asked the Querent to pick a certain number of cards. I will often do that if the person has small hands and does not feel comfortable shuffling the cards. Some decks are large, certainly larger than regular playing cards, and sometimes people find them hard to manipulate. And I never allow anyone to riffle shuffle my cards! Damages their little psyche's! I will only riffle shuffle the deck if I want to clear the energy for some reason. Also the cards stay in better condition if they are not constantly being bent and riffled! In the Light... A ------------------ www.Day4Astrology.com IP: Logged |

I don't use the reversed cards because I use the entire 78-card deck. If I was doing a special spread with few cards, I would be doing reversals as well. IP: Logged |

Yes, riffling the cards is damaging--physically and to the Energy.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

I read reversed cards. I find reversals give an additional element to the information, especially for the court cards. For instance, the queen of cups upright may give information about the querent, but in a revered position may represent these qualities being directed toward the querent from someone else. That's how it seems to work for me, anyway.IP: Logged |

Greetings...Randall.. that's a good deck. The first one I started reading with in fact. I like that each card had a symbolic picture rather than just a number of Cups or Swords etc. I like the Morgan-Greer deck because of the beauty/richness of the colors and the more Renaissance-y flair. And I like the Hanson Roberts deck, cuz it's cute and not terribly intimidating for people that aren't familiar with the Tarot. How could you not love a Tarot deck where the Sun card is basically a Cabbage Patch kid riding a My Little Pony in front of the happy-faced Sun? Have Fun... I agree with the bottom card tidbit. I did read about that somewhere and found that it always seems to work. IP: Logged |

I read reversals too, but as some others have said it's pretty much only when a card falls out of the deck reversed, or if I'm shuffling and some cards get reversed i just leave them that way. My method of reading cards is i shuffle & i only read "Jumping" cards that fall out of the deck, i don't do the cut the deck thing - i have no idea why i started reading this way but i always have and it seems to work for me. There is no right and wrong way really, reversals add an extra dimension to a reading if they pop out - well that's my feeling on it anyway IP: Logged |
