Do you read reverse? It seems like a lot of people no longer do. Do you or don't you, and why or why not?------------------ "Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all." Harriet Van Horne IP: Logged |

I never have read the cards reversed - I think each card contains messages that are both positive and negative, and also, you've gotta look to the cards nearby for a full picture. IP: Logged |

Did the ancients read them reversed?------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

Greetings...I went through various phases in the time I have studied Tarot. I began by trying to learn upright and reversed meanings for each card. Then I went thru the "I don't need reversals, the cards will tell me what I need to know all upright!" phase. Now I have come full circle. I respect everyone's opinion, but my feeling now is that the cards can come up Upright and/or Reversed, and that means something. So I read with reversal and recommend this to people to whom I teach Tarot. Like everything else, it is a Choice, and one must do what is in one's heart to do. "In my Father's House there are many Mansions"... and "All roads lead to Rome". I think you should try it all, and see what works for you. Blessings... Because I use elements I feel no need for reversals. For example the Magician is ruled by Air, so if he were surrounded by Earth cards he would be effectively 'reversed' and read that way.------------------ www.tarot-advice.co.uk IP: Logged |

i read reverse for majors only. i usually interpret the reverse as weakened, or not a full-culmination of the cards' meanings. minors i just read them as they are.IP: Logged |

Never read them reversed and it works perfect for me; the reason for this is because it changes meaning next to any card-I read them like a book, and the more I use them, there's no need for one beside the other... but whatever works for people- I always like to hear new ideas, or what works for people.Tarot is a tool to help the mind expand. The cards are coded with the true spiritual ideas of God-Mind

I find it a little bit confusing. If i were to shuffle the cards would i shuffle them all while they were in an upright position? or should i spread them out all over the table than swoop them together and than shuffle? I find whenever i shuffle after swooping a majority of the cards come out reversed and I wonder how much of that is predetermined by the way i shuffle.whats random? and whats not? I tend to read upright. IP: Logged |

I'm careful with shuffling, so when a card falls out, it's a big deal, and a reverse card would be rare. ------------------ "All deaths are suicides, do you realize that? Every single one. You should be clear in your mind about whether or not you are using the reverse meanings before you do a reading.------------------ "All deaths are suicides, do you realize that? Every single one. Keep in mind that depending how it feels, you may have dropped that card, as that's your answer! IP: Logged |

Sometimes, the best thing to do is just close your eyes and keep cutting the deck until a card falls.IP: Logged |

I don't use them either, for the reason Leichen said. And I don't shuffle anymore. I just hold my cards, think of the issue, and cut them 27 times. Yes, that's alot but it's my favorite number and it works for me. IP: Logged |

what i do for my oracle cards ad now doing same with tarot cards is i divide the deck into that many number of piles and then take one off each pile for each positione.g if i'm using 5 cards, i will divide into 5 piles and take one off each pile for each position. lifting 5 top cards off the top of a shuffled deck, or from same point in deck, doesn't feel right. it makes me feel like i'm going to take out same one again and again.. but where the number is large, e.g 9, then divide into three piles, and pick one off 1st, two off 2nd, 3 off 3rd, 4th off 1st , 5th off 2nd and go on till i get nine IP: Logged |
