I've had interesting experience with King of Cups… the books usually describe him as a very caring person, but that hasn't been my experience at all. I think the King of Cups understands emotions and is an emotional person, but he's not objective. He doesn't care about fairness, he cares about his feelings. When I think of King of Cups, the Rider-Waite version comes to mind of a King floating in the ocean and similarly… King of Cups people keep people at a distance because of their emotional fluctuation. People need to walk on eggshells. However, when he's calm, he's very calm and very nice, but everything touches him at a heart level which can be stressful to others. IP: Logged |

I like what Hanna wrote I see him in many different shapes & forms. Often as the 'enjoying my life while I order another beer' (alcoholics) till artists & compassionate life coaches/psychologists. IP: Logged |

He's a fishy one (pun sort of intended). In one of my decks he's sitting looking into an empty cup with this sad look on his face. In another deck he's just sitting looking thoughtful. So clearly he's thinking a lot lol. I always thought that because this was a cups card that he would be aware and open with his emotions, ready to be that father, boyfriend etc. Recently I read this: http://www.priania.com/2013/07/king-of-cups-in-love-and-relationship.html and it got me thinking, I wanted to post this same question but you beat me to it Jessica2407. I had done a reading for my sister about her and a guy, she wants to date him and he has told her that it's just a friends with benefits (but exclusive, no sleeping with other people, at least from what I understood). So she asked if he would be her boyfriend, King of Cups came up as the last card in a 3 card spread (can't remember the first 2) and I told her her answer was yes. Now I'm wondering if that was a mistake. She brought up the relationship thing with him again and he told her to disregard anything he says during or right after sex. He's also a Cancer. This fits the theme of him just being in his emotional moment, but that is something I would expect from the Knight of Cups. Moral of the story, I'm still confused about this guy. IP: Logged |

I think the King of Cups tends to be confused in general because they live in a world of emotion! They see, do, hear the emotion in everything. There's no logic behind where they go.IP: Logged |

Thanks Hanna I think the KoC is a very interesting man too. This is definitely someone who is very emotional or is rendered emotional by someone specific. How comfortable he is in expressing these emotions is the tricky part. I don't think this guy is the type that is necessarily good at romance!or may be he has very unique ways that he expresses his romantic interest. I was curious to read how you guys view the KoC.
