He is my ex and we haven't seen each other in awhile so we exchanged pics. Afterwords I did a reading and got 3 of swords for how he sees me and 5 of cups as how he feels about me. I'm thinking I didn't meet his expectations now

I think it's just expressing the anguish if the breaks up that he's feeling right now. Seeing your pic brought it all up again.

Just 2 say I agree with littlecloud

Before opening the thread and reading he was yr ex I thought the photo might trigger off painful memories/associations, somehow cause pain.

5 of cups stands for regrets re: how unpatchable and irreparable and definitive it is, perhaps at this moment he's just in a less comfy place than he used to be with you, so resentment is defs there. Not sure if it's because he's unhappy/has nothing to hold onto, so he's naturally turned to longing for the past.

The other thing that came in, is he may be *kicking* himself as the 5 cups can sometimes be regretting actions from the past?
